Title: Re: Opinion of illeism Post by: Gustaf on February 26, 2012, 04:39:45 AM I love it, especially when praising.
When doing some research work I ran across this gem: "Bronwyn Hall was the main driving force behind the matching process, and it is only thanks to her monumental efforts that this task was accomplished." This was a footnote from a paper written by Bronwyn Hall herself. I also once received an e-mail from someone in the student association at my university, which began "[insert name] is writing to you with regards to" and ended with "[insert name] through [insert name]" And that was a guy devoid of humour so it was pretty strange. Title: Re: Opinion of illeism Post by: angus on February 27, 2012, 11:25:24 AM I had a girlfriend who used to do that all the time. It was creepy, but she was hot so I didn't let it bother me. Then Bob Dole popularized it and now it doesn't seem as strange.
Even I do from time to time, but only when I'm talking to my son. "Give Daddy a kiss." "What did Daddy say about standing too close to the TV?" |
