The congressional GOP did some serious whip-cracking with regards to the wars, and not supporting/ceasing to support them would result in not getting any aid from the RNC or NRCC. He's not well known statewide, and he did lose in 2008 in his District. He'll have minimal impact, assuming he's even on the ballot.
