Title: Prayers, sympathies, kind words et al
Post by: Hash on May 01, 2012, 05:39:19 PM
Hi guys

I received some bad news at the office today: my last remaining grandmother died, in France. I hadn't seen her since 2008 or so, and since 2009 or so she had been in a bad shape as she could no longer speak and she was losing her mind, but probably still somewhat conscious. She apparently died this evening, and was informed by a dreary phone call from my parents at work today :S I kinda expected it in the last few days, and I know full well that it's way better this way than living like a vegetable in some crappy world. I was saddened, but less than when my other grandma died in 2009, but death still sucks.

Not as much for me or for her, but I'd still appreciate your random prayers, sympathies, kind words and so forth.

My condolences and prayers, Hash.  I have one remaining Grandmother who just turned 86 last Tuesday.  When she leaves this world, I don't know what I will do, yet.  She has given me my morals and my spiritual faith.  Thankfully, she is still in great health, a survivor of breast cancer in 1994 and bladder cancer in 2007, and her mind is still sharp.  I can see her living well into her 90's.

I will be praying for you and your family, Hash.

Random kind word. :(
I wonder how much longer I'll have my grandmother. She'll be 89 in june and is not, I think, actually happy about being still alive. (And not in good health either.)

I'm really sorry to hear that. :( I think I have some idea of what it means to have grandparents in these conditions, as both my grandmothers were very ill at the end of their life. I hope it is not too painful to you, but it probably always is. Even if it might also come as a relief if she was really suffering.

My deepest condolences.
