Title: Mother's Day
Post by: Grumpier Than Thou on May 13, 2012, 08:54:16 AM
Today marks the one day out of the year that mothers actually get a thank you for their hard work throughout the other 364 days.

How will you be celebrating Mother's Day this year?

I made breakfast for my old lady.

My son gave her a nice card.  Actually, last week at his piano studio, there was a photographer there and all students were invited to sit at a grand piano while they were photographed.  Then, later in the week, we could pick up the Mother's Day card that they made from them.  As it turns out, on the day of his piano lesson, it was Pajama Day at his school, so he had his Diary of a Wimpy Kid pajamas on in the photo.  It's all good.

Now, we're going to Wal-Mart to get some stuff for the garden.  Later we'll go to the public library, and then to the pool.  Probably I'll make dinner, but I haven't decided what to make yet.

Took my parents (including my mother) to brunch at the rooftop Lafayette Restaurant at the Hay Adams Hotel in downtown DC.  Besides the topnotch food and service that you would expect (I made sure that the flowers I bought for my mother were there when we arrived, and the centerpiece at our table), you couldn't have asked for a better day -mostly sunny, warm, and breezy with highs around 80.

I had to work today 8-7, and while I would rather be with my mother, I also know that I am honoring her by going to work today.  That's what she wants for me to do.  I can spend other days with her, but she wants me to work today.

I work every Saturday and 2 Sundays each month, May, June, and July.  It will change again in August.

It is a sin.  Ask jmfcst.  Unless of course your corporate owner wants you to flip the lord off, in that case, Republicans support Sunday toils.

Perhaps he meant the Apple store?

The App Store is Apple's alternative to actually having stores to sell software. It's like the iTunes store, but instead of selling little iTunes apps, it sells the full computer apps (you can buy the next OS on it, Victoria 2, all the Mac apps (iPhoto, GarageBand, etc), and stuff like that). It comes with all Macs now.

Sorta yeah, except it's a computer application, not a website.  (http://www.apple.com/macosx/whats-new/app-store.html Here.[/url)
