Title: America's Enemies (Political Realignments)
Post by: Indy Prez on June 03, 2012, 08:09:25 AM
I've been considering the definition of political realignment in terms of the wider international enmities America has fostered ever since it's inception e.g. US-Axis Triumvirate, US-Soviets, US-Islamic jihadists. When will America encounter it's next major enemy? who will it be? and how will it affect the electoral map (if it still exists)?

Here are a few examples:

Tell me which threats to the Nation Security these maps signifythen post the next logical electoral maps in the sequence. This will hopefully grease the wheels of debate.

1. 1992, post-Bush/Post-communism, arguably beginning of terrorist threat
2. 1948, post-WW2/Nazi threat, beginning of communist threat
3. 1940, beginning of Nazi threat
4. (mine) = 1916: beginning of Central Power threat/WW1:

I considered 1916 to be the loose beginning of the Nazi threat in that it would eventually lead to the creation of the Weimar Republic, out of whose ashes Hitler would rise.

Before that, anyone? Spanish-American War?

Not so much, but it did mark the emergence of the United States as a Superpower, and marked the death of the Spanish Colonial Empire

Bin Laden wished he had done the economic damage to this country that Bush did.

I'm the first to criticize bush, but come on.
