Don't know, but it's definitely the last job I would want to have.

What would I do with my power? I can imagine it going two ways...

1. I'd go mad with it. You puny humans would have little choice but to obey my absurd edicts - you will wear silly hats on Tuesdays because it amuses me, and woe upon you if your hat isn't silly enough. For decades, even centuries I will laugh maniacally every Sunday morning to keep you from sleeping in, only to stop one week to confuse all of you and incite panic that God isn't behaving normally and the end times must be upon you. Dogs and cats will not only live together, but you'll actually be able to hear them plotting against you in the next room. Marmalade shall rain from the sky and the moon will literally be made of cheese! MWAHAHAHAHA! It shall be glorious.

2. I'll not go mad and actually try to do some good. However, I fully expect that I'll give up trying to unf**k this reality and leave to create a new one that's far more interesting instead.

Abuse omnipotence to monitor entire universe, relax, and follow the drama.  Though I expect I'd focus on Earth: I have a feeling Earth is the Breaking Bad of the universe when it comes to drama.

I would start fiddling with things and probably end up completely screwing up the laws of physics.

I honestly cannot know what I'd do with omnipotence until achieving omniscience!

I'd stop making lame excuses for myself through scripture writers and theologians, and abolish evil.

Stupid question. We're defined by our environment, while God is someone whose environment is completely defined by Him. Thus, our perception would be completely screwed up and we wouldn't have what it takes to handle the power. Needless to say, none of us will ever become God (hopefully), so no worries.

I would lie low like the great seas, letting all streams which wish to flow, flow into me.

I'd resign.

Spend a brief moment contemplating the greatness of my universe and then realize that in that brief moment there is this bunch of idiots that went from being pastoral nomads to being able to make use of nuclear weapons.  Ah well, time to pluck up the few that can go back to living life the way it is supposed to be and let the rest kill each other off so I can have a blank canvas to put the survivors on.  As a reward, I'd give the survivors a chocolate-covered manhole cover.

Install myself as the absolute, immortal-but-in-a-human-body dictator but not omniscient ruler of the entirety of the Earth, after changing the cultures around to make it as close as possible to what I perceive as utopia. Create a new God, tell him not to interfere with me and my Earth, then resign. God is a little too much power for me. Absolute immortal world ruler with ability to invoke God to do whatever I want is better.

I know this may sound odd, but why would humanity be of any particular interest to God? There are almost certainly plenty of other interesting critters out there to take interest in and from among their number does anyone here really think our species would seem at all exceptional or worthy of holding the most attention?

Normally a valid question but the question we're answering here is if one of us were God, and since we happen to be human we have an interest in humanity and our answers reflect that.

Nothing. Eschewing being an officious intermeddler is the Lord's work.

What is Man, that Thou art mindful of him?

To all those idiots saying they'd eschew power: shouldn't you at least determine if their are any blackholes/meteors/super-volcano eruptions headed our way, and stop them, before you resign?

I would create a race of beings in my image. Which is a truly scary thought.

The question is predicated on a false premise, but I'm enjoying the progression of this thread into inevitable drama.
