A while ago there was a county annexation game that had plenty of interested plays but a non agreeable map...... I was actually rather interested in this idea so I decided why not use the standard county map for he U.S. I invite you all to join and hope this takes off. One per turn if this takes off. I hope no one minds......

I'd say we could start round 2 anytime..... as for Virginia we could just ignore the impossible tiny counties but if anyone has other suggestion's i'd be happy to hear them :)

Emperor Gasstavinius the MMMCCLXVIII decided that it would be in the best interest of the Imperial Empire to expand to the north of Imperial City to take Bronx County. The Bronx will be added to Imperial City and and renamed Yankeepolis. This expansion was implemented using Battle Elephants.

OCC: Are the rules that you can make another claim only after one other person does or do you have to wait until everyone takes a turn?

I'd suggest a random roll, with the first selected getting 5 picks, 2nd 4, 3rd and 4th 3, 5th and 6th 2 picks, and the rest 1 pick.

As for Virginia, maybe we just count it as one county?

Okay. I found a great high resolution map that could work well. I've taken the liberty of hosting it at IMGNOOK.com. If we all use the same image and same hosting site, things should go swimmingly. The map is big enough to see the smaller Virginia counties, as well as those smaller counties near Manhattan.

The map only contains each of our first choices (a big sorry to the Imperial Empire on this one... If we do rolled turns, it will be best to start from one county each).

I think it'd should be after everyone takes a turn just to keep it  balanced but if someone drops off the face of the Earth we'll obviously make exceptions, anyways I'll go next.

I certainly would. There are a lot of counties in the Mississippi Valley.

I wouldn't, soon enough we'll all have shared borders, and it gives too much advantage to whoever posts first unless we're very strict on the rule that whoever come lower on the roll list gets first choice of counties.

I think the main thing is we just need all of our participants to pay attention to when we have new rounds in the game. We should normally be able to have 2-3 rounds a day if everyone checks this thread once in a while.

I agree. It's taking pretty long. If you want my blunt opinion, I don't think we should be accepting to many more new participants now.

Though I wouldn't be against upping the number of counties we get to annex each turn...

I'd be cool with new people if they choose places where there is a ton of open space like Texas, South Carolina, Kentucky, Colorado, etc.

I actually had to change that rue because it made me realize it would be impossible for some to get defeated as they would always have at least 1 county..... I'm still looking for revision suggestions though

Wait... what?

I put a rule up earlier which said that if 2 "country's" wanted the same county the one with the lesser total amounts of counties to annex that turn gets the state while the opponent chooses a new county to annex.

However, for example say Person A (who has 1 county) and Person B are at war and person A gets 2 counties in 1 turn and person B gets 5.  Then Person A would chose their 2 counties and person B could only take 1 of A's when they could actually wipe them out........ but like I stated above other advice/ suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If we're allowed to steal counties, this game will go on forever. I was enjoying it the way it was (or at least the way I thought it was :P). It was very straightforward. Now I'm not so sure... Sorry to be so negative.

But to me, the draw of the game was about seeing how far you can go, seeing what cities you can take, and seeing what the map will look like in the end. I didn't think it was going to be a game of Risk.

I will wait for the official word on this one. I wasn't going to do it, but I've noticed that the rule hasn't really been followed by anyone else seeking to expand into contested territories...
