Title: The RogueBeaver Institute for Paul Ryan: Where does Ryan 2016 stand now?
Post by: Mr. Morden on October 06, 2012, 02:46:53 AM
We're two months into the Romney/Ryan ticket now.  Perhaps this discussion would be better held after the VP debate, but I'll start the ball rolling now: If Ryan's interested in running for president himself in 2016 (should Obama win this year), has he helped himself by agreeing to be Romney's running mate?  Is he now the frontrunner for the 2016 GOP nomination (again, assuming an Obama victory this year), or just one of the pack?  Where do things stand with him both on his chances for the '16 GOP nomination and the '16 general election?

I think quite a lot depends on how he does in the VP debates.

*bump*

OK, with the debate now out of the way, what do Ryan's chances of winning the 2016 GOP presidential nomination (assuming Obama wins next month) look like?

He's the frontrunner because he's the "next guy in line" and he's the intellectual leader of the party.  All he would have to do is jump ahead in fundraising, which wouldn't be very hard because of the first point.  He's pretty likely to win the party nomination at some point given how young he is.
