Title: McCaskill brings down the hammer
Post by: Lief 🗽 on October 10, 2012, 07:48:24 PM
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/wp/2012/10/10/the-ads-senate-republicans-have-dreaded-in-missouri-are-here/

Three new ads, each one a rape survivor speaking directly to the camera and attacking Akin. Brutal doesn't even begin to describe it.

I think brutal is the proper way to go in this case.

Diana is the one they need to go with.  It's far and away the best of the three.

Damn. Great ads, and I tend to agree the first is the best.

Ouch. So Akin would have to be the worst Senate candidate since....who exactly? (Let's restrict it to people who were serious and at one point had a chance of winning unlike Alan Keyes 2004 or something like that.)

Ouch.

Could these ads backfire though?

Must be a close race if she feels the need to air these types of ads

Plain, Simple, and Effective.

Akin seems to be rigging the election in McCaskill's favor.

And surely it is a close race. But that's when you need to play your cards, and while they're still hot. All I can say is, after all of this, if Akin wins, McCaskill cannot be blamed. All shame and horror falls on the heads of Missouri's voters.

I'm not sure how I feel about this - they're certainly brutal and will be effective. I'm just not quite understanding the emphasis on the voters being pro-life.

Finally at home so I can watch them now. Damn those are brutal. I think the second is best.

Very powerful ads.  Brutal, but I agree brutal is the way to go and Akin certainly deserves it. Think the first is the most effective, but the second ad is powerful too.

Missouri's pretty conservative. Emphasizing that the ladies are pro-life is a way to appeal to the voters.

You know, I'm not quite sure which I find worse - the fact that Akin made the mind-numbingly ignorant comments that he did in the first place, or the fact that McCaskill's response is to use rape victims as political props. Or perhaps it's just the fact that, generally speaking, neither of these people have any dignity left to speak of.

This race quite officially sucks.

Wow.

The Micheal J. Fox not-on-his-Parkinsons-medication ad was for McCaskill, too, back in 2006, right?

Someone on her campaign team is a genius, who the Democrats should promote to do this stuff nationwide for the DCCC or something.

You must be joking!  Trying to turn this around on the good candidate, just because she tries to expose and emphasize just what a monster the Republican is.

Her ad consultant is indeed one of the best in the business - did ads for Obama in 2008, DSCC ads in 2010, does all the DGA ads this year, etc.
