Title: Gore and Kerry Post by: skybridge on February 02, 2005, 07:05:53 AM Both have been rumored to given the presidency another shot in 2008. How likely is it that either will run? How would they do in the primaries? And, although it's much too early to predict, in the general race?
Neither would have to run against Bush. Gore will always have the Clintonian support, as well as the benefit of having won the popular vote. Kerry is still in the news for his Senatorial work, though I believe his "anybody but Bush" support will have vanished by 2008. However, Democrats don't tend to run presidential losers twice, e.g. Mondale, Dukakis, etc and I think the candidates will end up being rather unknown figures today. After getting slammmed by Bush for having no legislative record for the past 20 years, he has decided to start introducing legislation like a murph. He also took the lead in opposing Condi Rice's nomination. So, he's running.
Gore, on the other hand, finally ecognizes that his Party no longer wants anythng to do with him. He'll throw a few bombs every now and them to keep the fringe energized, but he no longer has a future in politics/ Title: Re: Gore and Kerry Post by: MonkeyPooo4U on February 02, 2005, 09:08:04 PM I think if the Democrats want to win they should go for someone more moderate. A Bill Clinton figure, but not a Hillary. Though she is making an effort to make herself look more moderate than she really is, which could end up paying off politically. If Kerry could get his act together I guess he could be a good candidate, but if George Bush's second term goes well it really won't matter who Democrats put up.

I don't think Cheney will run, but since this is a point people make about 2008, it's validity might be undermined if someone from the current Bush administration gets the GOP nomination.
