Title: Breckenridge in 1860 Pennsylvania
Post by: jaichind on December 07, 2012, 12:55:03 AM
I just noticed that Breckenridge got 37.54% in Pennsylvania well ahead of Douglas's 3.52% and 20.51% Connecticut right behind Douglas.  I wonder if Breckenridge was the official Dem candidate in PA ergo such a large vote for him over Douglas.    Breckenridge was not on the ballot in many Northern States like NY, IL, MI, IW and RI.  I wonder how he got such large support in CT.

The PA results aren't too surprising considering that Breckenridge was supported by Buchanan and his allies.  (I think Buchanan and Douglas had some sort of falling out).
