Title: CNN national poll: Christie leads Clinton by 2….but she leads other Republicans
Post by: Mr. Morden on December 27, 2013, 12:47:28 AM
CNN national poll of registered voters:

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2013/12/26/2016-cnn-poll-clinton-deadlocked-with-christie-but-leads-other-gop-presidential-possibilities/

Christie 48%
Clinton 46%

The writeup indicates that in the other matchups….

Clinton beats Ryan by 8, Paul by 13, Huckabee by 15, Perry by 17, Cruz by 18, Rubio and Santorum by 19, and Bush by 21.

But they don't give the exact numbers for those matchups.

Wow what a difference. Surprised Ted Cruz isn't last in the field (and that Rubio is so far behind).

Christie will not survive the primaries.

Three things should scare the $#!+ out of the Republican Party:

• They could not win a single executive-branch race in Virginia last month
• The road to capturing the Senate looks difficult, and may flip back in 2016
• Hillary Clinton is the Democrat frontrunner

Clinton is beatable, yes. But the GOP appears to be much more beatable.

This is weird: PPP's poll from a few days ago had Bush only down by 5 points to Clinton.

Maybe CNN accidentally polled GWB against Hillary ?

:P

I think it's now safe to say Christie and probably Walker are the only two candidates that as of now could defeat Hillary. (Walker will first need to be re elected as governor though)

I don't think either one can. You could forget Walker to begin with, and Christie is being felled by the bridge traffic scandal.

Just as Clinton was felled by the Benghazi "scandal"...

I don't discount Scott Walker. By Republican standards he has taken courageous positions on Big Labor, government employees, and privatization. He does not back down, and that is what the Republicans will want. He provoked mass demonstrations and did not give in. He stuck to his principles.

Maybe that is not what Democrats want; he would be extremely polarizing. But Republicans want unions eviscerated, want government workers impoverished, want college students shown who is boss, and want sweetheart deals in privatizing public assets. They want tax cuts even if they come with mass hunger. Liberals, so far as he is concerned, can kiss some unglamorous part of his anatomy.

Paul Ryan may be more interested in a high-profile committee assignment or a cabinet post. He has never won a statewide election, and he couldn't swing Wisconsin.
