Title: NY-Siena: Christie favorables down, trails Clinton by 2:1, Cuomo too
Post by: Tender Branson on January 20, 2014, 07:28:15 AM
If the 2016 election for president was held today, who would you vote for if the candidates were:

60-32 Clinton/Christie (up from 56-40 in their Nov. poll)
55-35 Cuomo/Christie (Christie was ahead 47-42 in their Nov. poll)

Favorable Ratings:

68-29 Clinton
66-28 Cuomo
49-39 Christie (down from 63-25 in their Nov. poll)

A really big dip, with these numbers, Christie appears to be losing the electability argument. His crossover appeal is gone.

That's a gigantic swing in the Christie-Cuomo race. Wonderful news!

The most detrimental thing about this scandal is Christie's crossover appeal. The Democrats and left leaning Independents will move away from him seeing him as yet another generic Republican. Instead of polling 5-10 points higher than a generic Republican, he will poll like every other Republican. It's hard to recover from something like that.
