What's your theory?

I have three theories.

1. Mechanical failure forced them to turn around, only to crash later. I haven't been following the story, so I don't know if they passed over other airports or not. If they didn't pass over any suitable airfields, than I suspect that they crashed on return.

2. Suicidal pilot/hijacker intentionally turned it around and crashed it into the Ocean.

3. EB Cooper type deal; this one is a tad bit ignorant and absurd, but hey, I mentioned that the IRA could have been one of the Boston bombers and everyone laughed at me-until it turned out to be Chechens. I, for some reason keep having this thought in my head that some type of loosely organized gang or organized crime syndicate has hijacked the plane and landed it somewhere in Thailand/Vietnam/China. The hostages are still alive and onboard the plane and the hijackers are negotiating with a foreign government in utmost secrecy. I know this is the most ridiculous thing I will most likely post in 2014, but if it were a terrorist group that hijacked the plane, they would have claimed responsibility for the hijacking already.

My latest theory:

The older pilot said that he wanted to go to the toilet, then eat something. The younger pilot said: "OK, I'm looking for the plane".

When the older pilot was on the toilet, the younger pilot asked a hot stewardess into the cabin and sealed the door. While they had sex inside, the woman's butt accidentally knocked out the tracking transponders.

Then there are 2 different possible storylines:

A) The plane went on for a few hundred kilometers without the tracking systems and entered Vietnam airspace. The Vietnamese shot it down, because it didn't respond. Then they covered it up.

B) When the older pilot came back from lunch and saw that they had sex inside/door remained locked, the younger pilot knocked out the stewardess and thought: "Well, instead of going to prison, I might as well fly to Antarctica ..."

NFI.. NFI...

If pilots went to prison when they bang stewardesses, I reckon there wouldn't be many planes flying around the planet as of now...

Most obvious answer is that they they crashed on an island with special powers.

Suicidal pilot or co-pilot, or someone took it over and was suicidal.

Well, if they do it in the cockpit - it's a problem for them.

If they do it in some hotel etc. - then who cares ?

I'm pretty sure some are doing it in planes all the time. Probably not in the cockpit though.

Someone has told me they believe the plane was abducted by aliens, another that the plane flew through a vortex, kind of a Bermuda Triangle in the China Sea and flew into another dimension.

Others that it crashed into the China Sea or crashed into the jungles in Malaysia or Vietnam.

My personal view is that it was diverted to Kazakhstan.

Option 4 seems most likely followed distantly by option 5 (which might actually be the most alarming possibility).
