Title: HI-Civil Beat: Ige up 11
Post by: RogueBeaver on June 12, 2014, 07:17:08 PM
48/37 though they caution the lead is anti-Abercrombie, not pro-Ige. (http://www.civilbeat.com/2014/06/ige-holds-healthy-lead-over-abercrombie-in-hawaii-governors-race/) Ergo still fluid, for a guy who hasn't aired any TV ads.

RRH has different numbers; 51/34 looks like disapproval/approval for Abercombie.

Quote
Democratic Primary
Governor
Ige 48%
Abercrombie 37%

General Election
Aiona (R) 33%
Abercrombie (D) 27%
Hanneman (I) 18%

Aiona (R) 31%
Ige (D) 31%
Hanneman (I) 17%

I did a bit of math and for every statewide election since 2010 (except for 2010 Senator, the Civil Beat didn't poll that), the Civil Beat has averaged 11.7% more republican in their final poll than the actual results :P (It ranged from 9% more republican to 15% republican), so it doesn't seem like a reputable polling source.

What did Abercrombie do to piss off Hawaiians ?

This is something I've been wondering too. Is it just because of his nomination of Schatz, or is there something I'm missing?

He made a bad first impression during his first year as Governor (http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/oct/11/hawaii-is-no-paradise-for-abercrombie/?page=all) and the old Asian guard has never liked him.

I'm not certain, but the thought of Duke Aiona as a governor scares me. Surprisingly with as big a lead as Ige has over Abercrombie, Aiona has a 17-point lead over Ige, but an 8-point lead over Abercrombie. In all fairness, those polls were taken from January-February

Bumping. Has there ever been an election recently in Hawaii Hannerman HASN'T run for?

That being said, Civil Beat is very iffy in their polling. Aiona really doesn't have much of a chance. There'd have to be a major scandal with the Democrats for the race to become a toss-up.

If the Democrats lose the Hawaii Governor's Mansion in November to the GOP, I'm going to laugh .
