42% Fung (R) 42% Raimondo (D) Fung’s internal poll was conducted Sept. 10 through Sept. 11 by Virginia-based Public Opinion Strategies. The landline and cell phone survey included 500 likely voters and had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.38%. The head-to-head section was asked “before any issue questions.” The poll was conducted before Moderate Party candidate Robert Healey entered the race. This could be close, but I think Raimondo is deeply favored. It's pretty obvious you can get whatever result you want, if you pay them enough money.

Unless you want to triple the future cost of social security, there's no way around some kind of reform. Norway has already reformed its system a few years ago to make it more viable/cost-effective, and it seems most other industrialized countries are thinking about doing the same (or, I guess, have already done it). Either that or raising the retirement age. Or often both. The UK will increase its age of retirement in a few years from now. Nah, he's more conservative than Ken Block if that tells you anything. Raimondo is more conservative than some Democrats, but it's Rhode Island. I fear that had they nominated Clay Pell - who would have been a better Governor - he would loose. Fung is pretty fiscally conservative, but he's also a social moderate (pro-choice, I think he's pro-gay marriage) Ken Block would be receiving a lot of crossover support if he had the nomination, but he simply was not a good enough of a candidate for Republicans to really have confidence in him.
