Obama won this district by 16 in 2012 but Maffei is consistently a pretty weak candidate. If he loses this most likely Dems can recapture this one in 2016. This district has oddly always been competitive. If Maffei is throwing out a +5 internal, it must be somewhat close. You'd think he'd have the edge though. Even though this poll is obviously an outlier, he's underperformed for three election cycles in a row now. He's like the Democratic Jean Schmidt. If he does wind up losing, he better not try to run again in 2016. Anything somewhat marginal seems headed into the Pub column this time - up and down the ballot. That is my sense of it all anyway.
