Title: GA-Rasmussen: Deal breaking away

Deal 49
Carter 43

Looks like there's been a pretty clear trend toward Deal in the recent polls. Do the Georgia posters have any idea why?

Republicans coming back home would be the most likely answer. Despite the hype here, Georgia is still a Republican state.

For one, Deal hasn't made a huge gaffe like Perdue. I still think it will go to a runoff, but Deal is in decent shape compared to Perdue.

Deal's corrupt, but in terms of issues, I probably prefer Governor Deal to Senator Perdue anyway. At least Deal likes prison reform.

Of course he does, he'll need to be a beneficiary of that reform at some point.  The choices in Georgia are terrible. Corrupt Deal vs. a Carter.

Deal is destroying this state, bit-by-bit. The foundation of education is being utterly ripped apart these days, and that's before you even consider the ethical implications and economic malaise resulting from his actions. If I had to pick between a Republican-controlled Senate and a Democratic Governor at West Paces Ferry, then I'd choose the latter.

There seems to be some very inconsiderate assholes in certain states who wish to make election night less interesting. :P

Carter has run a surprisingly good race.  But Deal has also done well and the statewide GOP tilt and the overall trend gives him the edge.  If he doesn't win it outright next week, he will clearly be favored in the runoff.

I still think we are two years away from Georgia becoming a purple state.  2016 will be big here, and you have to think that if Johnny Isakson doesn't run for reelection (highly probable), Carter (or any Democrat) could be in a very strong position for the 2016 Senate race.

Or 2020, a presidential year when Perdue will have to run for re-election...

Isakson has said he is running again, but I don't buy it, either. He is sick, and has been for years. It's talked about here in inner political circles. He's always been a chain-smoker. I mean, take a look at how much he has aged since 2010. He's lost a noticeable amount of weight. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he has cancer and hasn't said anything yet.

There was nothing wrong with his post. Isaakson has aged horribly and looks even worse than he originally did.

Oh, boo-hoo. It wasn't made to be mean; it's a serious observation. He's been smoking like a chimney for 50 years and has had fairly acute health problems since not long after he was elected.
