Title: The Queens of the Soup Kingdom
Post by: Ban my account ffs! on April 16, 2015, 10:07:00 PM
I consider these two to be the essence of the broth soup or the essence of the cream soup.  Whether it comes in a crock with a crouton and bubbling Emmenthaler (Or gruyere) with a dry red wine, or in a crock with a side of popcorn and a cold light beer, these two are the culmination of the essence of soup.  Water is the essence of wetness.  [/zoolander]

Whats your favorite broth soup? Cream soup?

...so when I thought about QUeen Of The Soup Kingdom...I came up with Quotsk...which sounds like quatsch in German or Kvetsch in yiddish...who kvetsches the most?  The queens of the soup kingdom.  And before you call me sexist...just remember which queen you're talking to.

Wisconsin Beer Cheese crushes French Onion any day, but Clam Chowder tops 'em all.

Clam chowder is amazing...but I tried to keep the soup not chunky.  One could argue a bisque belongs in the poll too for being a soup of veggies pureed but Im racist against vegans so the thought didnt occur to me.

Cioppino is the essence of a good creamy soup.

For broth, Onion is pretty good.

But Cioppino wins it...but that's just the Bay Area in me speaking.

The only soup I bother with anymore is pumpkin soup. Which.. usually contains coconut milk and/or sour cream so, I'll go with the beer cheese because that sounds absolutely delicious and I want to try it where's a recipe?

(New England) Clam chowder, split pea, pumpkin/squash are the best.

Then French Onion is in fourth.

I recommend a good stout and a sharp cheddar cheese.

French onion with a layer of provolone or even mozzarella.

But otherwise, minestrone and also vegetarian chili come to mind as favorites.
