Given that a $7300 gratuity was included, you have to wonder if they left a tip.

The job creators require a lot of good food to create those jobs!

Of course this is maddening.  That meal should have come with a cyanide mint.

Makes me wish I was the owner of Nello's. (normal)

WE SHOULD KILL PEOPLE FOR BUYING FOOD!

Are you mentally ill?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that killing high paying customors is bad for business.

Yeah, I've heard about this place. They're actually kind of famous for having awful food at ludicrous prices, and more or less only stay in business by scamming starstruck tourists or something.

Nello is literally the worst restaurant in the world.

My dogs liked the truffles very much, but I shouldn't have bought the water; it was way too expensive. :(

Worst of all it's like a 2 star (out of five) restaurant.

In this case the restaurant owner deserves to be burned more than its customer. It's not just rich people they've scammed.

Well, most owners deserve that because they're capitalist swine, so I'm on board.

Far more outrageous here is that they would write 3 cappuccino in such an establishment... One would except that those prizes would at least include basic knowledge of Italian grammar.

Um... no one is going to buy food at this restaurant if its that expensive. Its supply/demand economics. They are losing customers with these prices (and therefore losing profit), just as people are losing money buying here. That said, it sounds like a typical snobby restaurant you would find in the upper east side of Manhattan.

We're freaking out about nothing.

Wonders of the free market. The stupid rich paying through the nose for mediocre food at what amounts to a private club for people with no taste buds. I see no problem here.

Horrible Image for just how sh**tty this place is, though.

Please see original post for proof that someone is dumb enough to buy food at this place.

At these prices they are not buying the food itself, they are buying the experience and prestige of paying a lot of money for food.

They were carried out by sedan chair, no doubt.

I was using no one in a figurative way. If someone wants to buy something at that price, that's on them, but they have every right not to, and considering the ratings as well as the price, they would be dumb to dine there.

These people spent more money on one meal than more than half of all households in the US make in a year.

Looking at the Yelp! reviews, it appears Nello's is one of those places you go to not for the food but for the very expensive privilege of "seeing and being seen." They also have a location in Southampton that I assume is frequented mainly by the sort of people whose families would not have been allowed in any Southampton establishment two generations ago.
