Title: If A Republican wins 2016...

Will the Tea Party hysteria about the national debt evaporate overnight?

Yes, because someone will balance the budget and pay debts eventually right?

There's still a Tea Party?

Nothing will change much.

Though, I wonder how congress would turn out and the dynamics between the two branches for the next 4 years.

There is a middle ground between the two choices.

I'd imagine it will exist, but slightly diminished.

Moderate Republicans have never been immune to Tea Party fanaticism, and in fact have actually been the biggest victims of it.  I don't think they'd have any problem going after a President Rubio or Bush.

No. The Tea Party really has its roots in opposition to President Bush's big spending. The only way the Tea Party will stop complaining about the deficit is if the deficit is eliminated without raising taxes.

Does anyone really think that they'd give Jeb! or someone like Kasich carte blanche to spend as he pleases just because of the (R) after his name? They're sure not cutting anyone any slack in the primary.

No just like they are furious at the Republicans in congress now for not doing what they want.

The worst thing for the GOP would be to win ion 2016. A close loss like 1-4 points is the best outcome. Hold the House (lose 10 seats) and Senate (lose 3 or so seats) but pick up 1-2 more GOP statehouses, NH and MO. Win the midterms, then win in 2020 after the 2018 recession and Dem wipeout.

There won't be a word said, because it is all about winning and being in control. Republicans would call anyone who criticized Bush unpatriotic and that practice would resume should a Republican be elected President in 2016.

If the Republicans win a pickup of the presidency in 2016, and especially if the party wins a second consecutive cycle in 2020, they will lose majority control of the U.S. House and U.S. Senate between the midterm elections of 2018 and 2022.

With that in mind…forget giving the manufactured, fake "Tea Party" any consideration.

Kasich has proven that he can do just that.

The name itself is obviously tainted, but the overall attitude has taken over the party.

The answer should have been clear back in 2015

Republicans didn't care about the debt, they just said anti-Obama things

If you told me in 2015 the Tea Party was going to be cheering for high tariffs and the Federal Reserve cutting interest rates after 10 recession-free years and sub-4% unemployment, I would have called you stark raving mad.
