With clear indications that they could not hope to represent the majority will of the people of South America, and obviously not being in command of parliament in any way, the Conservative government must be immediately dissolved and a government must be instituted that will do something.

The Parliament of South America reached new lows when only 2 MPs bothered to show up to vote on proposed government legislation - this government must be brought down before the situation can be improved.

I fully and wholeheartedly agree with the gentleman of the Worker's Party. This government is nothing but a disgrace to this nation - Potus, I call upon you to step aside and leave the place for a true government of the people.

People are kinda busy with real life right now (exams, etc). This lull should be expected.

That can't be excuse. Down with incompetent government!

Millions of working South American workers will be struggling and children will go to sleep hungry and cold. The fact that the Conservatives are only able to muster 2 votes for their legislation and that they are fine with the status quo enough to simply "call off" parliament is evidence of the fact they must leave government immediately!

Seems to me the only ways to resolve this would be to call for a vote of non-confidence at the earliest opportunity, or to win the next election.

Even if the government were able to turn out their entire caucus, they would still be short of a majority, as Simfan is Speaker and thus has no vote (per convention). I thought at the time that it was an... interesting strategy for the government to throw away their tenth vote for a largely ceremonial office, seeing as this would weaken their ability to pass legislation.

It would appear that the government was counting on the Soc Libs to 'be reasonable' and support the government, but if this were so, why were the Soc Libs not invited to continue the coalition government? So far, it seems that the LS are at best a "swing party," as they abstained on the Confidence vote but voted against the government's Tax Bill (the only piece of legislation proposed since the elections).

Is this a non-confidence motion?

I'm likely speaking out of turn here but I think we'd have been delighted if Barnes wished to continue as Speaker, but he didn't so here we are. In any event Simfan is doing a fine job and given the nature of our system and the rarity of free votes it hardly matters. We'd need support from other parties regardless.
