Title: Percentage of Libertarian Party vote per state in the 2012 presidential election
Post by: MisterElection2001 on August 17, 2016, 12:14:18 PM
I had some free time today, so I made this map of the percentage of votes that the Johnson/Gray ticket got per state. As you can see, they got the most votes in states that aren't considered battleground, which backs up the claims of this article (http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/08/third-party-candidates-2016-clinton-trump-johnson/493931/).

Very interesting. I wonder if Johnson's struggles in swing states is more regional since he did well in western swing states like Nevada and Colorado but poorly in others.

Thank you! I want to make some more, but I can't find any other presidential candidates to do maps for. Not all states reported the individual write-in votes for each official candidate, and in some states, the presidential ticket for third parties differed from each state (like the Constitution Party in Oregon). If you have any suggestions, I will gladly make more, even for elections from different years.
