Title: 1992 Election
Post by: Alcon on July 23, 2005, 08:38:35 PM
I'm curious to see how this turns out in such a libertarian-leaning forum.

My apologies if we've had this before.

EDIT: This would be if you were 18 at the time, and equally as politically knowledgable as you are today, not if you were, like me, still barely walking.

I would have voted for Bush, but I was only 10 years old.

Now I would have voted for Bush, but me back then (if I could vote) it would be for Clinton as I didn't convert to libertarianism until 2003.

Perot, though at that time I would have voted for Barney or my parents :)

Then again, if I was actually given a ballot it would look like this:

hmm, ilikeverin's diagonal line for president intrigues me.
Well, I was libertarian when I was eighteen, so write in: Andre Marrou.  When it actually happened I wanted Bill Clinton to win because my mom convinced me he was a good choice.

Perot.

That is a twist:

Well, I can first vote in 2008, who I would have supported:

YEAR/PRIMARY/ELECTION

1980/Reagan/Reagan
1984/Reagan/Reagan
1988/Bush/Bush
1992/Bush/Bush
1996/Alexander/Dole
2000/McCain/Bush
2004/Bush/Bush
2008? MCCAIN, GIULIANI, OWENS????

Mine is the same as him but i would have voted for Bush in 2000 for both.

Another leadership camp I guess.

It is pretty much well-known around this forum that I would have supported Perot for President had I been eligible to vote when I was 12.

I would have voted for Bush. I was 6 years old then, and I just started kindergarden 2 months before. I wish I could remember the early 90s better. :)

Clinton, but Perot if I lived in a Republican state and wanted to beat Bush.

I would have voted for Clinton when I was 13, if I'd been an American. I was quite enthusiastic about him, in fact. 4 years later I was quite fed up with him, and would have voted Nader.

I've said a million times in the past Perot, so I'll hold my word.

Oddly enough, I know more about Ronald Reagan's presidency as a ten year old than about G W H Bush's as a thirteen year old. My only memory of Bush's presidency, besides the first Gulf War, was that he was defeated by an Arkansas governor.

Frankly, 1992 was an election in which I would have stayed home.

Clinton

The only thing I remember about the 1992 election was bumper stickers saying Clinton/Gore, and I thought they meant gore as in sick violence. I was to young to know that was Al's name.

Also, my teacher brought us to the library TV when Clinton was inaugurated. Funny how I remember less about '92 than about '88. I have no memory of Reagan at all, thankfully.

Bush,  barely remember it, only remembering watching the states results come in and the map with red and blue.  My mom voted Perot and my dad Clinton, I didn't know much about the election or politics in general even though I was 12.

George H. W. Bush, seeing he was the only candidate who wasn't a kook. ;)

The best thing that el;ection produced was the SNL skit where Perot and Stockdale are driving in a car talking about the Veep Debate. That's a great skit. :)

Haha, those are my memories of 1996.

My memories of 1992 are extremely foggy.  As in, nothing.

'88 is even more blurry in my mind ;)

Since you are 14, then you shouldn't have any memory anything before 90 unless you were re-incarnated.
