Talks about Saudi imprisoning a female human rights leader for asking about women being allowed to drive !

Talks Saudi spreading radicalism & Wahhabism & are trying to radicalize & promote extremism in moderate Islamic countries like Indonesia !

Talks about Hillary Clinton as SoS writing that Saudi based groups are the biggest terror funders & are spreading extremism ideology all round the world

Asks for re-evaluation of US relationship with Saudi Arabia !

(Also mentions Yemen war, to stop arm sales etc !)

I wholeheartedly agree with Sanders on this point. The Saudi government arguably has one of the worlds worst human rights records, as they do not allow much political freedom, routinely execute and torture people who violate Islamic law, and have in place policies that discriminate against religious minorities such as Shi'a Muslims. Additionally, Saudi Arabia has been a strong promoter of Wahabbism (an extremist form of Islam that considers all non-Muslims to be heretics who deserve death) and covertly supports numerous violent extremist groups such as Al-Qaeda and ISIS. The US definitely needs to reconsider its relationship with Saudi Arabia.

Well, he's totally right. We should really think about our relationship with the Saudis.

Indonesia is not a "moderate" Muslim country. They are just not a culturally Arab country. This is a country that actually enforces blasphemy laws and outlaws open atheism... very moderate of them.

The same applies to Malaysia and Central Asia to lesser extents.

I mean, it's a Paul-Murphy-Franklin-Merkley bill, but sure let's make this about Bernie. ;)

I'm no Sandernista, but him taking this stance should hopefully end the comparisons between him and Corbyn by the US political press

Yes, but haven't more conservative mosques popped up in recent decades, encouraging the cultural shift to more reactionary Islam?
