They're not giving a Nazi salute. Ukrainian nationalism is unfourtunately still popular, and they had their own sort of Nazis lead by Stepan Bandera. They used to murder Germans, Jews, Polish and Russians indiscriminately- for them, everyone is inferior, and Ukrainians are superior. Minister Avakov nominated a lot of nationalists to be heads of different police departments, and he uses Nazi as his puppets to bash political opponents.

Kind of expected as the battleground between the only two superpowers to fight a brutal war while bordering each other. If they hadn’t, it’s probable that the Nazis and Soviets would have enslaved/interned/mass murdered even more. |
