Title: Who is the luckiest forum member?
Post by: Platypus on September 03, 2005, 08:35:19 PM
I'm going to get a list of every YaBB God, and seed them into one-on-one matches to be determined by the flip of a 20c Australian coin (although 50c if requested). Non YaBB gods may apply for entrance in this thread; the first head-to-heads (or should that be heads-to-tails?) will begin in about 8 hours, but some spots will be left unoccupied for a day or so.

This is pure chance. The placements are determined by chance; the top in each placement shall be heads, the lower name tails-this is unchangeable.

Note-if, somehow, the coin lands on its side, the two in that contest will automatically eliminate all others and progress to the final. If the final results in a second side-landing, a draw will be declared.

That's all the posters between 551-6500 who have been active in the last 3 months. The remainder will have a seperate draw, in which they will be given a second chance if they are fdefeted-this is because they're the people most likely to follow this, and I want interest to remain high, so there is a bit of a bias. It will only be in this round, though.

You'll have to get 128 participants if you want to have everyone play the same amount of rounds.  That's the route I'd think is easiest to go.

I request a 50c Australian coin, Hugh. Am I special? Can you send it to me?

depends on how many participants there are. It's also possible to have pools pof six, to be determined by dice rolls, or you can have a three-way playoff with a coin (A vs. B, B vs. C, A vs. C, whoever has the most progresses, if it's 1-1-1, go again).

They don't need to be 1-on-1 each round, but that is how I want to start off. It culls a lot, but not TOO many.

Casey-yes, but you have to pay me $6.00 US postage and handling, as well as US $18.00 for the coin. ;)

BTW, if they haven't posted within the last three months, they're discounted.

If he gets 6 heads (and there are no tails), then we can agree that it was statistically significant at the 95% confidence level.

Nah, I was kidding too.  I've actually had a pretty good couple days - I went down to Cincy to meet my gf's family for the first time (in a year!), and we got on like a house on fire.  I was worried I'd put Greg Focker to shame, but it was all good.  Plus, I'm in the middle of getting a raise, so things have really been looking up.

I'm in a damn good mood, and I'm not gonna let statistically insignificant coins or weird hicks from Virginia get me down.

Glad to hear things are going well for you, man.  It's a good thing a condom didn't slip out of your pocket just as you were meeting your gf's dad. :P  That might have put a damper on your meeting with them.

And congratulations on your raise.  I guess your bosses at work don't mind your hyper-partisanship.  :)

May the good luck continue, dude.  Have a great day.

LOL yeah.  We didn't actually do any 'funny business' the whole weekend, because I was so worried that her parents would hear.  They're both incredibly nice people, but I didn't want to overstep the line.

And congratulations on your raise.  I guess your bosses at work don't mind your hyper-partisanship.  :)

Thanks.  I told them that I'd only accept a raise from them if they voted for Kerry last year.  If they voted for Bush then I'd quit my job and boycott their products.

May the good luck continue, dude.  Have a great day.

Thanks buddy.  I sure will, and I hope you do too. :)

Hah, so you pulled the wool over their eyes. :)  Probably not actually, but it was probably noted that you showed them respect, which is all most parents really expect when it comes to that.  It's therefore no surprise that they liked you.  It's always nice to make a good impression in that type of situation.
