FREDERICK DELAURO DEAD AT 86

()

January 14, 2018, Regensburg - President of the United States Government in Exile, Frederick DeLauro, has reportedly died in his sleep in Pontevedra, Spain.

DeLauro has been the President of the U.S. Government in exile since 1999, when he assumed the post after the assassination of President-in-Exile Phillip Kirkweald. Under DeLauro's leadership, the government in exile has curried increasingly strong support for recognition amongst NATO countries, including Great Britain, Ireland, Sweden, France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, and Italy. From 2000, many countries, Spain especially, pumped funds into the exiled government with the one-day goal of overthrowing the Christian Republic of America.

Frederick DeLauro was born in Appleton, Wisconsin in 1932, amidst an increasingly unstable period in America. The Great Depression was ravaging the country, and an entry into World War II in 1941 divided the country fiercely along political, racial, and sectarian lines. When the Second Civil War broke out in 1947, DeLauro and his family, fearing persecution due to their Catholicism, fled to London that same year. After the United States collapsed in 1954 after a Pyrrhic victory in World War Two, DeLauro's father become a secretary in Margate, England, and his mother became an Italian language teacher in Canterbury.

In 1954, DeLauro dropped out of college and moved to Canada, against his parents' wishes, to live amongst American refugees in Toronto. By this time, the Second Civil War was won by far-rightists, and the new Christian Republic of America was being organized by a coalition of radical segregationists, nativists, Christian supremacists, and a minority of neo-Nazis. In 1955, American Refugees under former Senator Margaret Chase Smith organized into a government-in-exile, which DeLauro eagerly joined that Spring.

From 1955 to 1979, DeLauro climbed the ranks in the government-in-exile until he was nominated to be the Ambassador to Portugal, which he served from 1979 to 1988. He was credited with enhancing Portugal's ties with the government-in-exile as well as securing the government's presence in the city of Porto.

In 1997, The Christian American Republic invaded Canada with the pretense of quashing the government-in-exile. After the capture of Toronto in July of 1997, DeLauro and the rest of the government fled first to Iceland, then to Portugal. A quick succession of sanctions, air raids, and bombing campaigns crippled the CRA and halted any further expansion into Canada. However, to this day, the CRA controls many densely populated Canadian lands up to London, Ontario.

After President Kirkweald was assassinated by CRA agents in 1999, DeLauro became President and was successful in moving the capital to Lisboa, where it would be more exposed to international aid, better infrastructure, and money. DeLauro's tenure has been marked by growing the financial and military prowess of the government-in-exile, as well as establishing outposts and embassies across the world, including China, Japan, Hawaii, Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Brazil. The construction of new military bases in the Azores and Cuba have also been some of his successes.

Frederick DeLauro is survived by his wife, Marianna, his daughters Melissa and Janet, and his several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A leadership election will take place on May 24, 2018, to leave time for mourning and reflection, as well as time to prepare for a vote. Likely contenders include Suza Cameron, Acting President and former Vice President and Refugee who fled Kansas City in 1976; Jeremy Wilkinson, Chief of Staff who fled New York in 2001; and Anglo-American Ambassador to France, Veronica Crawford.

TERRORIST LEADER FREDERICK DELAURO DEAD. PRESIDENT HAWTHORNE SPEAKS.

January 14, 2018 -

"President" of the United States Government-in-Exile, Frederick Antonio DeLauro, has died in his sleep in northwestern Spain. He was 86. He served as the leader of the rebellious government since 1999, when the Christian Republic killed his predecessor in that same year.

DeLauro has been wanted by the CRA government and Bureau of Justice since 1980. He has been accused of heresy, anti-Christian activism, anti-American activism, treason, and murder after a terrorist attack in Philadelphia in 2003 was linked to insurgent groups. He has also been labelled as a degenerate and liar by several Presidents, including incumbent Michael James Hawthorne.

In 2007, an investigative report conducted by American News unearthed several criminal connections between DeLauro and numerous financiers and mobsters, including Jews and Papists. The report caused a significant outrage in America.

We now turn to the White House, where our President, Michael James Hawthorne, will speak on DeLauro's death.

()

"My Citizens, today is a day we can rejoice. It is a day we can celebrate and thank God for giving us.

As of 1:36 PM, Eastern Standard Time, the so-called leader of the rebel forces in Portugal, Frederick DeLauro, is dead.

Simply put, he was a menace on our society. He spread a strain of hatefulness, rebellion, and vitriol from his seat of pride and sin in Lisbon, and we will never forget what he or any other exiled rebel has said about our Nation and people.

However, let's take a minute to reflect on the kind of country we have without the likes of DeLauro. A country of peace. A country of laws. A country of order. A country of hierarchy. A country of respect. A country of purity. And most importantly, a country of God. All these traits are ones we worked for since the dawn of the War of Reclamation. Since the Inaugurations of the Great Presidents Smith and Rockwell. Since the Holy Light appeared to us after a long, dark, sad road of secularism, debauchery, and filth. We have been born anew, and we have stayed pure, but it is under threat by the likes of DeLauro and his co-conspirators.

Imagine an America run by DeLauro: Rampant crime. Disregard for holy and national laws. Chaos. Miscegenation. Rampant immorality and homosexuality. Atheism. Islam. Judaism. Anti-Christianity. This was the ruinous nature of America before our saviours fixed our path in the 1950s. This was the America that was seemingly destined to follow the Devil into Oblivion. This was the America we could not accept.

But, the America that came to be is our America, not anyone else's, and for that alone, I expect us to pray many thanks to our Lord for letting that be. I know I will be, joined by my Mary and by little Johnny and Greta.

Thank you, America, and may God Bless you all."

Interesting and mildly horrifying.

What's the state of average people who aren't white, male, straight, Christian, etc. in the CRA? Did the CRA go full Republic of Gilead, or are minorities severely oppressed culturally but not really in a systemic sense, like not actively persecuted by the government a la Nazi Germany? Or something else? This world is interesting and I can't wait to see it fleshed out more.

American GiE to vote on New Leader May 24, Expats from Several Countries able to vote

()

January 16, 2018 -

After the death of Frederick DeLauro on Sunday, the American Government-in-Exile will hold a leadership election to decide on the next candidate. The Departments of State and of Elections have announced that elections will be held at various embassies and consulates in allied countries and states with large refugee populations. These will be: Mexico, Canada, Hawaii, Alaska, Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Liberia, South Africa, Portugal, Spain, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Norway, Iceland, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Greece, Israel, India, China, Australia, New Zealand, Korea, and Japan.

Residents of these countries have been alerted via text, mail, phone, and internet of the upcoming election and the locations where they can vote (tending mostly to be large cities which house a consulate or embassy).

No speculated candidates have announced yet, due to the recency of DeLauro's death. Pundits expect a slew of candidates to announce in early February. Campaigning will be limited to American communities in Europe. Travel to Brazil, Mexico, and Canada is highly dangerous for GiE officials due to the threat of assassination or capture.

Likely candidates include:

- Suza Cameron, b. 1964, Acting President and former Vice President from 2013 to 2018. Born in St. Louis, Missouri and forced to flee her home in Kansas City, Missouri in the late 1970s. She is a left-wing hardliner in the GiE, frequently aligning with policy geared toward sanctions, military action, and economic deprivation against the CRA, as well as stripping it of nuclear weaponry. She has openly spoken of alliances with Hawaii, Brazil, and France. Is said to be personally in favor of militarily retaking the CRA and restoring the United States.

- Jeremy Wilkinson, b. 1970, Current Chief of Staff for Acting President Cameron as well as DeLauro since 2014. Former Secretary of Family Reunification from 2009 to 2014. A centrist who focuses more on evacuation of those who wish to leave the CRA but can't due to the totalitarian government. He is on record as being very anti-war, seeing such a war with the CRA as being devastating to the world.

- Veronica Crawford, b. 1959, current Ambassador to France since 2003 and former CEO of the American Resettlement Fund. A conservative and center-rightist. Raised mostly in London since her family fled North Carolina in 1960. Crawford believes in a total segmentation of the CRA into several regional capitalist secular republics, as well as a deposition of the entirety of the CRA government.

- Rodrigo Garcia Richards, b. 1972, former Mayor of New Princeton, Spain and current Deputy Director of the CIA. Center-leftist who believes in creating a new American state in whatever land is consensually given. Believes that warring with the CRA would be a bloody humanitarian failure, and the best approach would be to starve it of money, resources, and power, as well as instigating revolutions to compel oppressed peoples to overthrow religious governance.

Your question is very good. A White Straight Male is a very privileged member of society, so long as he is a Protestant as well. Catholics, Jews, Mormons, Muslims, and other adherents to other faiths are treated very poorly and are either second-class citizens or amongst the bottom of the class hierarchy. Women are incredibly oppressed, being barred from owning property once married, as well as barred from several professional jobs outside medical assistant, teacher, nun, housewife and the like. Despite this, there have been a few female politicians and notable celebrities, but they have all been right-wing subordinates who enforce the ideal of Christian womanhood. White women of course are leagues ahead of women of color.

There has yet to be a massive genocide, but African-Americans, Latinos, Asians, Jews, Native Americans, as well as non-Protestants, LGBTQ, Atheists, Laborists, Leftists, and other "undesirables" are barred from holding office at any level, as well as barred from financial, academic, business, and cultural jobs. There is also extreme housing discrimination against them, as they are also barred from real estate jobs. They are effectively ghettoized to inner cities and poor rural areas.

Violence against them is common and usually unpunished, with police brutality being common. The murder rate for black people and gay men is highest, with transgender women and Jews being close behind.

The CRA, and its media, politics, and culture, propagandize heavily on the virtues of hierarchy and class order. Miscegenation between strictly defined races is explicitly banned in the constitution, as well as same-sex marriage, adoption, and intermarriage between income brackets (an enforcement of castes).

The country is incredibly poor and unhealthy, however, due to the stratified class system, the rich and upper classes are filthy rich and have enormous political power and access to healthcare and many institutional privileges not afforded to much of anyone else.

Internationally, the country is not recognized as legitimate by any sovereign state, and only partially recognized by Russia, Kazakhstan, and Libya for trade and diplomatic purposes. Many sovereign states use Russia as an informal intermediary between diplomats. Prior to 1960, many more states recognized the CRA, but a widespread crackdown on political dissidents and civil undesirables brought a wave of sanctions and economic blockades of the country.

Economically, the CRA's financial and banking institutions have been legislated to only provide service to white protestants and only to married women. Economic inequality is staggering and the country is in a perpetual state of economic malaise. Famines are rare but not unheard of. The most recent famine was in 2000 and killed about 500,000.

It is a mostly self-sustaining country, but international sanctions have gradually put the country on a course for economic disaster. It went from the largest economy in the world in 1946 to one of the smallest in 1999. This has allowed countries like Great Britain, France, China, Brazil, and Japan to become the world's most powerful.

Thank you for taking the time to write this up. :)

I'd probably be a refugee living in either Ireland or the Dominican Republic in this timeline.

I will definitely be watching this timeline closely. :)

Reports of Famine and Starvation in Parts of the CRA

()

Seoul, Korea - This is a developing story.

Reports of starvation in many parts of the Christian Republic of America, especially in the Midwest and East Coast, are emerging. These reports, gathered by Korean and Portuguese military intelligence, suggest that a particularly bad growing season last Spring and Summer impacted the states of Dakota, Missouri, Minnowa, and Illinois. It is unclear why this report has just emerged, but it is very likely due to the restrictive state media in the CRA as well as the closed-off nature of the state to foreign media.

The current leader of the CRA, Michael Hawthorne, has not addressed the issue.

The last famine, in 2000, killed 500,000 people and was the result of a crop blight and poor soil health in the Midwest, further impacted by a generally sickly population. The famine resulted in some reforms to agriculture, but President Hawthorne has abandoned agriculture reforms and has instead saw an increase in cultivated land since he assumed power in 2003.

Map of the CRA

()

BLUE represents Virginia, the so-called "Presidents' State", or what is de-facto an inherited demesne of each CRA president, where he controls all the policy of Virginia as well as the entirety of the CRA from his seat in Columbia (formerly Washington).

DARK GREEN represents states with the highest level of autonomy, with governors able to have some freedom in dictating agricultural, cultural, political, and racial legislation and policy.

LIGHT GREEN represents states with a certain degree with autonomy, but still under strict suzerainty of the theocratic government. These states are largely agrarian and are led by appointees who largely decide agricultural policy but not much else.

ROSE Represents states with severely curbed autonomy and mostly serve as industrial and resource states. Governors here oversee mineral extraction and other industrial issues.

RED represents the areas most resistant to the CRA during the Second American Civil War and thus, the states which were punished the most. These states are exploited by the federal theocratic government and the governors serve directly on the President's Cabinet, unlike other states.

DEEP RED represents occupied territories legally recognized as being apart of Canada and Mexico. These areas have no rights over their governance and their residents are not considered citizens.

United States Department of Military Intelligence, Lisboa Office

Floor (REDACTED), Special Conference Room 0834-(REDACTED)

()

May 11, 2018

Acting President Suza Cameron sat at the table with General Mary Cromwell, Colonel Murilo Gomes of Portugal, several members of the American, Brazilian, and Portuguese clandestine intelligence, and the Prime Minister of Portugal, João Costa. The Brazilian Vice-President, Madalina Hutschler, just entered after being held up at the Portela Airport due to a bomb threat.

All three were gathered around a large, rosewood conference table full of stacks of papers, graphs, satellite imagery, and pictures. The room was barren, with only roses and orchids on the table, giving the soundproof, subterranean room some life.

"How many people have died so far?" Cameron asked, looking at imagery of barren fields and plagued croplands.

"It's been roughly eight or so months since the first series of crop failures, but it's very hard to tell due to the lack of info getting out. At least 504,000." An intelligence officer said.

"I'm sure this number will rise?" Cameron said.

"Yes. A sleeper agent stationed in Chicago has continually reported droves of refugees coming into the city and its suburbs. If more are coming, I can only assume its because the famine is still affecting the Midwest."

"What's causing such a severe crop blight? Have we ruled out the government purposefully releasing some sort of virus or chemical to kill these crops?" Hutschler chimed in. "After all, the Midwest is and has been the least faithful to the theocracy, perhaps it's punishment?"

"Perhaps." Cameron replied.

"Our best guess is that it's a drought, but it wouldn't be surprising to see the government purposefully destroying crops." The officer said.

After a few more minutes of talking and sliding images across the table, sipping tea, and scanning the reports of mass starvation and famine, the majority of the officers left the room, leaving only Cameron, Cromwell, Costa, Gomes and Hutschler.

"What a disaster." Cameron started. "This will be worse than the famine in 2000. By a lot. By this stage twenty years ago, only 19,000 had died. Now, it's half a million"

"Without sounding..." Hutschler started and then hesitated. "inhumanely opportunistic, this could be the perfect opportunity to use our clandestine organs to spread instability amongst the CRA."

"As much as I love that idea, how?" Cameron asked. Cromwell nodded her head and followed up.

"It's immensely hard for intelligence officers to penetrate the CRA, and it's even harder for them to incite rebellion. They'd get decapitated." Cromwell said, itching her brow at the thought of her officers getting their heads lopped off at the infamous National Justice Square in Pittsburgh, where so many rebels and desperate citizens were decapitated and hanged.

"This is very true." Murilo Gomes chimed in as well. "However, of the intelligence officers we have embedded, and whom have been embedded since 1998, they are very talented and discreet." He said. "A combination of hundreds of American, Portuguese, Brazilian, and Korean officers have since formed a very capable network of spies and professional rebel-starters, and when they receive our signal, they will take down America."

"How? Forgive me for being so naive, but as Vice President, only a fraction of our clandestine efforts were given to me." Cameron said.

"Well, such an operation leaves little room for fine detail, and our officers know they would be put in grave danger." Gomes stated. "But, among them are trained operatives who know how to start a revolution. And do you know how we trained them, Acting President?"

"How?"

"We've educated them on some of the very unique tactics of the OSS, how Americans overthrew the Monarchy in Hawaii, how they split up Colombia to build a canal for their own use, how they kneecapped democracies across the world. There's quite a list of atrocities and very shady decisions by Americans, even before the Civil War. Your former country taught us a great deal on subversion and dirty tricks." Gomes said, his tone becoming sharp and pointed as he continued his dialogue.

"Well, thank you kindly, Colonel Gomes. When I want tips on how to keep slavery till 1881 or illegally plunge into the Amazon, I'll text you."

"Okay now, let's stay polite." Cromwell said, her southern twang punctuating her words.

"Yes, I wish for us to all stay allies and friends." Hutschler said. Prime Minister Costa retreated to a plushy seat by the door.

"Look, I as much as anyone want to disestablish the CRA, but I have to be realistic. The country is collapsing on its own, and I don't want to risk anyone's life in doing what will already happen. Plus, if the government sniffs us out, that puts a target on every one of our heads. They will come after us and try to kill us." Cameron started.

"Yes, of course." Gomes responded. "You are absolutely correct and it's something we, and your late predecessor, have talked about without cease."

"And," Cromwell interjected. "There's the risk of purges and even genocides. If the theocracy suspects their subjects are interlopers with exiled governments, they'll begin killing." She said. "But, although I agree with the acting President, I do see some value in starting a quick revolution that will cause the realm to splinter. If we manage to carve out a friendly democracy anywhere in the country, we can establish a military and physical presence there and look to destroy the CRA by 2021."

Cameron chuckled. "The Crawford Plan, eh?" she said. "I'm glad you are optimistic." Then Cameron paused, folded her arms, and stared into the table, entranced by deep thought. The others watched her silently, with none being able to guess her next words or gauge her next actions. She then began twiddling with her thumbs and looking down, still in some sort of thought process.

Finally, she spoke. "I do recognize the value of such a plan, but I also recognize how f***ed up it can get, and how many thousands will be executed if it goes wrong." She began. "With that said, I can't unilaterally write off such a big idea, so I will be spending some time with my thoughts until I decide. Expect an answer on the eve of the election." She said. With that, the meeting was adjourned.

American Refugees Elect Cameron to be leader of GiE

()

May 24, 2018

Rio de Janiero - American refugees, expatriates, and others living abroad have elected left-wing Acting President Suza Cameron to a full, five-year term. The election was a special one, held after the death of President Fred DeLauro earlier this year.

The election, attracting about 95 million Americans across the globe (out of an estimated 159,000,000 in total living abroad), took place on May 24th and was held in consulates, embassies, international schools, and universities across the world. In all but five countries where elections were held, Suza Cameron swept the contests, with her greatest margin of victory being Mexico, followed by Puerto Rico, Liberia, and Israel. Cameron lost Great Britain, Australia, and Canada to center-rightist Veronica Crawford, and lost the Netherlands and Argentina to center-leftist Rodrigo Garcia Richards. Cameron won just shy of a bare majority, earning 48.7% of the popular vote, compared to 30.02% for Crawford, and 18.65% for Richards. The remaining ~2-3% has gone to local American third party candidates, write-ins, and protest votes.

The New Oval Office - Presidential Mansion - Lisboa - The Night of May 25, 2018

()

Suza Cameron continually felt her palms get clammy all night, but it was now impossible to keep them dry. She was obviously nervous, but she knew the decision she made, when she swept the contest last night, was the right one. It just had to be done. It's been too many years of suffering, too many years of death and oppression, and too many years of wanting to return home.

Cameron looked at the phone on her desk, which connected her with the Secretary of Defense, the Commander-General of the Military-in-Exile, the Directorate of Combined Intelligence, and the Foreign Service Agency. She disregarded her second thoughts and picked up the phone, and punched a secret code into the dial pad.

Three beeps ringed into her ear. At the end of the third ring, the President spoke. "Queen Chariot."

Mary Cromwell's voice was then on the other line. "Madam President?" She asked.

"Good evening, Secretary. Operation Indigo Dragon has been approved and executed."

"Understood." Cromwell said and hung up.

Cameron punched in another secret code, and listened to another series of three beeps before giving the secret code of her own. Dennis Hart, Commander-General, picked up the phone. "Madam President, good evening."

"Good evening, General Hart. Operation Indigo Dragon has been approved and executed."

"Yes, Ma'am. Good night." He said, and hung up.

The President then punched in her penultimate code, and completed the same process as before.

Secretary to the Director of Combined Intelligence, Mark Hsiao, picked up.

"Madam President." He opened. "Patching you through to Director Wallace in Guimarães."

"Thank you, Lieutenant Hsiao." Cameron said. She then heard a sharp tone ring three times, followed by a stretch of static three seconds later, then silence. "Quebec. Charlie. 23732."

Col. Melinda Wallace picked up, the sound of several voices echoing behind her.

"Madam President, hello." She said.

"Hi, Director. OID is approved and executed. This is your moment." Cameron said.

"Yes, ma'am." Melinda Wallace said and hung up the phone.

President Cameron took a deep breath and punched in the last few numbers that make up the calling code for the Foreign Service Agency. This time, instead of the usual dial tone, this tone was low, quiet, and lasted a few seconds longer.

An automated voice picked up the line and read off a series of geographical words. "Cambridge. North. North. West. Lexington. South." The voice listed. It was cold and robotic, meant to inspire an acute sense of responsibility and fear into the listener.

"Brookline." Suza Cameron said, slowly and deliberately. The voice processed the codeword and then asked for another.

"Papa. Sierra. Yankee. Sierra. Charlie. November. Ten Seconds." It said.

"Castle Grave." Cameron said, again very slowly. The voice gave way to another sharp, annoying tone, before patching to a human being.

"Castle Grave, this is Cross Prince." The voice said, a man who sounded to be in his late thirties but with the steadiness of an experienced spy.

"Cross Prince, this is Castle Grave. Oscar India Delta is confirmed and ready for your execution."

"Castle Grave, this is Cross Prince, we have confirmed." The male voice said, and hung up. The robot voice returned.

"Hotel. Uniform. Ten Seconds." It said. Suza Cameron then looked at a clock on the table, and counted down every second. When it hit its tenth second, she hung up the phone. The President pressed a small button on the underside of her desk. A Secret Service agent came in with a thick, metallic briefcase. He loaded up the phone and closed the briefcase. He slid the briefcase towards the President, who then input a code onto an electronic lock. It clinked shut.

"Thanks, John." She said to the Secret Service officer, giving him a playful wink. She didn't care if it was perceived as flirty, for she was far too shaken and nervous to think about it. Suza did it. She did the thing thought unimaginable, unrealistic, and plain deadly. Whatever happens, it's her responsibility and her career on the line. Maybe even her life.

She rubbed her eyes and exhaled. After standing up to view the gorgeous, flashy expanse of twilit Lisboa, facing the pitch black contrasting expanse of the Atlantic, Suza Cameron slowly left the room and went to her executive suite.

Reports of Civil Disturbance in New York City, Chicago, and Tijuana

July 4, 2018
Rio de Janiero - On the 242nd anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, fuzzy reports of civil disturbance are coming out of the American cities of New York, Chicago, and the occupied city of Tijuana, with unconfirmed reports of disturbances in Los Angeles, Houston, and Jersey City. These reports are gathered by citizens illegally recording events, state-run media, and the rare instance of a foreign journalist being allowed in the country.

The day began like most July 4th events do in the country, with President Hawthorne remarking this morning on the "immoral secularism" of the Declaration of Independence and "the devilry of the founding fathers and their ilk." Much of the morning news coverage was dedicated to the government and anti-United States rhetoric. Parades were held in Columbia and New York to celebrate the theocratic government, but they soon devolved into tense confrontations between theocratic supporters and New York residents.

()

O Globo reports that police have engaged with New York residents who are protesting the CRA, but it is unknown if there have been any serious injuries or deaths. Similar reports are coming in from Chicago, where protesters and self-proclaimed freedom fighters are engaging with supporters of the theocratic government and the Hawthorne presidency. Tijuana, a particularly volatile city under American-occupation, has been reported to host several protests against occupation, with residents waving Mexican flags and burning Christian Republican flags.

This is a developing story.

I wonder, what happened to WW2? Did Hitler win? Or did the Soviets eventually just conquer all of Europe and Japan?

I wonder, what happened to WW2? Did Hitler win? Or did the Soviets eventually just conquer all of Europe and Japan?

I'll admit, I haven't thought this out very well, but here's a very lazy TL of what I came up with.

-1945 - The US "defeats" Germany (it's more Britain, France, and Russia delivering the final strikes), but is still an economically devastated country and the war fiercely separated the country along various demographic lines, with many supporting Hitler and concepts of racial purity, eugenics, and rigid class structures based on race and religion.

- 1945 - The US drops two bombs on Japan, defeating it and installing an American occupation government.

- 1945 - The Christian National Brotherhood (CNB) is formed as a party and paramilitary organization, with their platforms being the opposition to WW2 and support of fascist policies, as well as support for segregation, anti-miscegenation, nativist, anti-Semitic, and anti-Catholic policies.

- 1946 - Right wing leaders and others are enraged at the ending of Japanese internment. An economic downturn strikes as returning soldiers cannot find jobs and do not spend much money. An already fragile country devolves into civil unrest and the possibility of civil war explodes, with any unity from defeating Hitler is all but diminished.

- 1946 - Civil violence gradually becomes commonplace, lynchings in the South see a horrific revival, and crimes against gays and lesbians, so-called "degenerates", also increase. The newly formed United Nations scraps plans of moving their HQ to New York. President Truman decides to send the national guard to many states.

- 1946/47 - The CNB wins a handful of elections to local seats and a few to Congress, but they are denied their seats due to being deemed terrorist organizations.

- 1947 - The CNB rallies together several similar paramilitary organizations, including the Protestants' Front, American Fascists, America First, and the New Christian Society. They eventually take up arms against the government in mid-summer. The Civil War begins on July 30.

- 1948 - After having much of the South pledge allegiance to the CNB Bloc, with some states overthrowing their constitutional state governments, the CNB forces move into the inland South and Midwest.

- 1949 - The Midwest proves easy to capture due to a fiercely divided population with many whites being sympathetic to nativist policies.

- 1950 - Truman is assassinated by CNB agents. Alben Barkley becomes President but cannot rally a substantial force to fight the CNB, now branded as the Christian Republic of America. With the United States segmented between East and West, California becomes an independent nation and is joined by Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.

- 1951 - Barkley is assassinated in public, and the US government is in shambles, with his successor capitulating to the CRA. Much of the Northeast breaks up and proves easy fodder for the CRA and the latter conquers them by mid 1953.

- 1952-1954 - California and its client states are invaded and quickly consumed by the CRA.

- 1954 - The United States government is reformed in Canada as an exiled government.

United States Department of Defense - Amadora, Portugal

()

October 22, 2018 -

Mary Cromwell sat in her office, a steaming cup of tea beside her. The sun was barely leaking in. It was a quarter to six in the morning. She had a harsh LED desk lamp illuminating a pile of maps and imagery centered on the Northeast portion of America. She sifted through many of them while she sipped her tea, discarding several maps she didn't like.

Several of the maps were very detailed, displaying even small towns and villages along tiny streams not found on more general maps. On some such maps, there were various markings in ruby red marker. Circles, x-marks, notes, various arrows going down rivers and approaching big cities.

"New York Harbor. Deep. Suitable for naval attack." read some notes. "Must secure New York, Philly, Boston, Baltimore very early. Places like Jersey City, Newark, Bethesda, Allentown will be next." Read some others, all written by various other low- and high-ranking officials concocting various plans and suggesting courses of action.

Cromwell picked up her phone and confirmed a meeting at 10:00 with the rest of the military leadership, mostly Americans, Brazilians, and Portuguese. A small smattering of British and French military officers would also be in attendance, but they were not instrumental to the plan. With Brazil being, arguably, the most powerful country in the world, they take precedent over long-time, but weaker, allies. Cromwell accepted and embraced it. In fact, she loved it. The American "Military" could not survive on its own without help from Brazil, and as their host country was ever so generous, Portugal as well. Because of DeLauro, Portugal is a solid ally to the United States. Brazil has come around more slowly, for reasons known and unknown. Perhaps its to keep their own power in the West unmatched, or perhaps they fear a devastating war with the Christian Republic. Cromwell couldn't know for sure, and she blamed herself for not knowing. A Secretary of Defense should be savvier, more knowing, but she felt she wasn't. And that bothered her. However, she was committed to bringing Brazil and her United States closer, meeting by meeting. Hopefully, this meeting would be enough for them. Invade the CRA in the northeast, bomb Columbia to smithereens with the aid of Brazilian, French, British, and Portuguese air power, and launch a giant amphibious invasion akin to the Invasion of Normandy.

However, unlike D-Day, they all have less time to accomplish such a feat. The revolts in America were growing. The state media was not reporting on it, but everyday rebels in cities, towns, and villages were gaining power and threatening the theocracy. Cromwell's spies were stunningly effective, and most importantly, alive. The beginning of the year saw a passive, destitute population inhabit the CRA. Now, less than a year later, it was a volatile country, with thousands dying a day to an out-of-control crop blight. Unconfirmed reports suggested a wide-scale revolution was about to explode.

With that said, the invasion must occur simultaneously during a revolution and be accepted by the revolutionaries. They must work with the United States to overthrow the theocratic dictatorship, and as Cromwell hopes, intertwine themselves with what they see as a liberation. Hopefully her spies have been in contact with revolutionary networks, alerting them that their true leaders will be home soon, and riding in with fire and fury. Either way, no one knew when a revolution will occur. Revolutions are fluid, they happen organically after a period of devastation, famine, and misery. The death toll from the famine, and extralegal executions of citizenry, was reaching one million. The French Revolution of 1789 was preceded by a horrid famine in 1787 and 1788, so the similarities were clear to Cromwell. Simply put, they were running out of time.

Exercises needed to launched immediately. Concrete plans established now. They needed to know exactly when, where, and how they would cripple the theocracy. Who they would need to kill within hours of operation; who to set the targets on. They would have a very short window to successfully take the northeast, and an even smaller window to permanently put it under lock. They needed to be on the shores of America as the bombing of Columbia commenced. They needed to take New York and Philadelphia by the first twenty-four hours, and by the first forty-eight, needed to have the CRA leadership with bullet holes between their eyes.

It was a daunting task, but Cromwell was confident. She sipped her tea and burned her mouth badly, but was too focused to notice or care.

Thanks so much! Means a lot!

Great question:

Truman was probably the last President of the old US, and he could have A.) left the US for Canada or the UK. B.) Killed himself a la Allende. C.) Captured and imprisoned by the CRA. I forgot that he was assassinated in 1950.

Other leaders like:

JFK - Probably fled due to his Catholicism, or was killed by CRA agents.

Barack Obama - Born in independent Hawaii, maybe become Pres or PM of Hawaii.

Hillary Clinton - Probably a poor laborer in Chicago, long dead freedom fighter, or some diplomat working for the UN after she escaped the CRA. Depends on how the Rodhams raised her. Maybe they raised her to be a dutiful CRA supporter, or she broke away from rightism like she did in OTL and fled the country.

Al Gore - Probably a poor farmer.

Bill Clinton - Probably a poor farmer or low-level urban administrator.

George W. Bush - Probably a wealthy aristocrat or leading governmental figure.

Donald Trump - Fully supportive of the CRA and very much a demagogue.

Mike Pence - Definitely a leader in the CRA.

People like Kamala Harris, Tammy Duckworth, Catherine Cortez-Masto, etc. would have been born in less evil countries. Cory Booker would probably be someone to flee to Britain, Spain, etc.

Columbia, Capital of the Christian Republic of America

()

November 30, 2018 -

Deputy Director of Intelligence, Matthew Bing, sat in the back of his black sedan as it drove out of Paul's District (formerly known as Foggy Bottom) and to the White House. He looked out the window and grimaced as he was driven past scenes of destitution, starvation, and depression. Various people, many emaciated, scowled at the passing sedan, giving dirty looks to the tinted, reinforced windows. Bing looked away after feeling nauseous.

After a few minutes, they passed Rockwell Square and the various monuments to various soldiers of the Revolution. The setting sun cast a dark glow on the Square, contrasting the Rockwell Obelisk and the cross sitting atop the spire harshly against the golden-blue sky. Traffic was sparse at this time, with curfew being set to begin at five, and any pedestrians caught outside would be fined. Bing sat back in his plushy seat and withdrew a briefcase from a bag by his feet. The case had a four-digit lock on it, under which was embossed FEAR GOD. Bing's personal document case.

He input his secret code and the briefcase clicked open. Inside was a singular yellow folder, marked confidential. Bing began sifting through the contents of the folder, many pages being headed as OPERATION RED DRAGON. He shook his head several times as he read various documents and intercepted conversations that have since been recorded to a painstaking T.

"God in heaven." He muttered as the sedan turned a sharp corner. The White House stood ominously ahead of them, basked in twilight. Bing scratched his brow as sweat began to develop on his forehead, chills running down his spine and into his guts. He sifted through every page and felt his heart drop. As the car pulled up to a private entrance to the White House, Bing reorganized the folder and locked his briefcase.

Inside the White House State Chapel, he met with Father Joseph Wilton, a close friend of the President, and his own colleague, Father Michael Howard Reading. The Director of Intelligence, and Bing's boss, Daniel Hartley, was praying silently at the front of the chapel, in front of a grand stained glass depiction of the Burning of Joan of Arc. Joan was depicted as being tormented and devilish, with horns protruding from her head and sharp teeth from her jaw. Bing didn't dare interrupt his overlord, as Hartley looked deep in prayer. Only after he was finished, nearly ten minutes later, did Bing approach him.

"Sir Director, I have the intercepted communications." Bing said. Hartley smiled and took the folder, thanking Bing.

"I'll get these to President Hawthorne immediately. Diligent work, Bing. God hates a sloth." Hartley said.

The President, meanwhile, was at a "press conference" with the subservient state media, along with another close theocrat of his, Father George Paris. The two were celebrating the opening of a new church in New Bethlehem (formerly Pittsburgh), a still volatile and sometimes rebellious city. The church was built using coerced labor and de facto slaves, for each brick was laid by a punished rebel and starving citizen arrested for petty crimes. This was of course three weeks after police killed six hundred rebels who attempted to rob granaries on the outskirts of town. The church was just a reminder of who the suzerain was and who they kill.

Instead, Hartley met with Vice President Max Derry, a kind, gentle soul from Tom's River, New Jersey. They met in the Vice President's office in the West Wing, and Derry locked the door when they were both inside.

"Alright, Hartley, what have you received?" Derry said.

"Rebels, from Portugal, are planning an invasion." Hartley responded.

"How do we know for sure?"

"My men are the best at intercepting clandestine dialogues. It's like they were born doing it." Hartley said and continued. "The past two months alone have provided us plenty of irrefutable evidence that the United States will launch an amphibious invasion near Charleston, on May 2, 2019, and another one near Miami on May 4, where they will secure the Miami Port."

"Mighty in heaven, this is quite an invasion."

"Yes, and we see the Brazilians are aiding them with naval technology, ships, weapons, anything of the sort."

"Expected of them, the coloreds seem to love helping each other out." The Vice President said. "What is our counter-attack? What are we doing?"

"Sink them before they get to us. We've already run scenarios in the Atlantic, having the Marian Fleet and Archangel Fleet meet the rebels and sink them to hell." Hartley said. "If not that, we have an air force that can obliterate their gains on land."

"They seem to be trying to re-enact some sort of D-Day." The Vice President said.

"Hardly, we know everything, to the point that they are already defeated." Hartley said. "I'm surprised they thought this would work."

"Surprised?" Derry started. "My boy, the government-in-exile is negrified, judaized, and full of homosexuals, never assume they are smart or intelligent in their decisions."

"Yes, sir, of course."

Derry, the kind soul, spoke "What do you expect of people are led by Catholics and apes?"

The New Oval Office - Presidential Mansion - Lisboa - The Afternoon of December 23, 2018

()

President Suza Cameron, Secretary of Defense Mary Cromwell, Commander-General Dennis Hart, Director Colonel Melinda Wallace, newly officiated Chief of Staff Vanessa Kilmer, and Colonel Gomes all sat in the Oval Office, sipping tea and eating sandwiches. Secret service lined the room, handling radio and cell jamming equipment to prevent any bugs or wires from recording the conversations inside the room. As an added precaution, music was playing in the background.

"Since November 29, the Christian Republican Navy have been hosting exercises off the coast of much of the Southeast, including the Pamlico Sound, Cape Hatteras, Wilmington, Charleston, and the surrounding waters of Miami. In contrast, there hasn't been much notable movement around New York, Boston, or Baltimore." Cromwell said.

"We've also spotted submarines off the coast of Recife as well. They really think they can scare us." Gomes said, chuckling to himself.

"Our diversion is successful, thank god!" Wallace said, laughing as she takes a bite from a sandwich.

"Let's keep it up. Your people must be really good actors if they can keep this up." Cameron said.

"I'll send them your kind words, ma'am. One of them nearly won a BAFTA." Wallace replied.

"Interesting." Cameron said. "But, let's keep our actual plans exclusive to ultra-secure networks. Just because they're tricked now doesn't mean their interceptors won't be listening in on other lines."

"Of course, our plan is concrete." Wallace said. And then, the music was turned down at exactly 4:15 and the cell jammers turned off.

"Well, ladies and gentlemen, I hope you are satisfied with the appropriations I've agreed to, but I can't say I'm, uh, into such a fund for enhanced artillery weaponry. Especially not forty billion." Cameron said. Gomes was gone from the room, slipping out once the music was over and he heard what he needed to hear.

Outside, on the busy street of Lisboa, Gomes rendezvoused with his boyfriend, Hugo Alameida, a professional man about nine years his junior. They kissed passionately and entered an unmarked car. Inside the car they chatted about the days events, leaving confidential things unsaid, and spoke about the flight back home. As soon as Gomes kissed his boyfriend's ear and was about to tell him of the fun night ahead of them in the vibrant Portuguese capital, a loud boom paralyzed both men and sent the car careening towards a barricaded sidewalk. Another car, flaming after being in the midst of the explosion, slammed into Gomes' car. The driver was impaled through the leg and torso as the chunks of metal collided. Gomes and Alameida were slammed into the windows and both knocked unconscious immediately as the interior was compromised by flaming chunks of searing metal. Several pedestrians were vaporized by the explosion, while others were traumatized into a state of horror and frenzy.

The Presidential Mansion was put on immediate lockdown, with the President and her gaggle of officials ushered into secure locations. The windows on the first floor were completely blown out, and there was structural damage to many of the walls and doors. Several of those inside of the first floor were lashed by flying pieces of glass and metal. Screaming filled the air as the dust soon settled and plumes of black smoke went up.

Blast Kills 1 in Portugal, Brazilian Official Targeted.

December 23, 2018 -

After reports concerning an explosion in the Portuguese capital of Lisboa have been confirmed, we have new information concerning the perpetrators and victims.

As of the publication of this report, we have confirmed that Brazilian Colonel Murilo Gomes, aged 40, was the target of today's blast in Portugal. He is a member of Brazilian military intelligence and is a frequent co-conspirator with the illegitimate rebel government headquartered in Lisboa.

We also have information that Gomes is a practicing, open homosexual, as ascertained by graphic and immoral pictures found on the internet. His "partner", Hugo Alameida, aged 32, was also targeted by the explosion.

The two men are in critical condition at an undisclosed hospital in the Lisboa area. We have confirmed one fatality, that of the driver of Gomes' car, Paulo Oliveira. There are a reported 108 injuries, many of which are critical.

The Christian League of Defense has claimed responsibility for the bombing, and its leader, Jack Zeleski, has released this video following the bombing.

A media player is linked in the middle of the article. The video shows an older man, sitting in front of a countryside landscape.

Quote
"As of 11:30 AM, Central Standard Time, I can confirm that my great sect of Christ-fearing citizens is responsible for the planning, funding, and execution of the bombing today in Lisboa, Portugal. We purposefully targeted Murilo Gomes, a homosexual who was the result of race-mixers, and his lover Hugo Alameida. We set out a goal to root out the sinfulness of those abetting the illegitimate rebel government, and I am proud to say we sent a clear message to the fag-enabling Suza Cameron and her pathetic excuse for a government. We will not allow these people to continue with their foolish exercise of illegitimacy, and where the Christian Republic fails, we will succeed. I thank all of those dutiful Americans and Christians who kept our league in their prays, and I will in turn pray tonight that God smites the souls of our enemies and casts them into the Lake of Fire.

God Bless America, and where America brings fire, it brings wrath and holy judgment."

This is a developing story.

Suza Cameron delivers remarks at the Dona Estefania Central Hospital in Lisboa

December 24, 2018

()

"Merry Christmas, ladies and gentlemen, before we begin, I'd like to take a moment of silence for the people lost because of yesterday's attack." Cameron started her remarks, then bowed her head and closed her eyes. A pained frown developed on her face. After a few moments, she raised her head again.

"I have spoken with the families of Paulo Oliveira, Nascimento Maria Cardoso, Mary-Ellen Craft, and Tiffany Craft; families who have lost amazing loved ones to a force of terrible evil and hatred, a force that seems hell-bent on spreading anxiety, fear, and hatred around the world. I cannot imagine the loss and sadness being experienced by these families, and I ask everyone in this room to keep those who have lost so much in their thoughts tonight. We have established a donation for the grieving families to help cover funeral expenses and to make sure their loved ones are put to the peaceful rest that they deserve and are entitled to.

It is only the terrorists, contracted by the Christian Republic, who would commit such evil on such a happy, warm day. Christmas is a time of togetherness, love, celebration, and unity, and these terrorists brought misery and heartbreak instead. However, we cannot let them define Christmastime for the worse. We cannot let them destroy us, or destroy this beautiful country that we are fortunate to live in.  Portugal is a strong country with a great people, and although it is not my homeland, it is the land that has given me shelter, support, and love, while the Christian Republic would see fit to give me destitution, segregation, and pain. For that, I will be eternally grateful to the Republic of Portugal. When I think of who I am, being an adopted patriot of Portugal is very prominent in my mind.

I'd like to extend my gratitude to our first responders as well, for the firemen, police, and emergency ambulance services who rushed to our aid and made sure every single person on the scene received the care they needed. Without them, the situation would have been ten-times worse. Because of the people who care, such as first responders, helpful civilians, and even concerned passers-by, the terrorists have lost. They can kill us and bomb us, but terrorists will never make caring people go away. They can never make helpful human beings too afraid to step in when the time arises. And for that, I want to let the Christian Republic know that they have failed. They have failed to truly terrorize us and make us afraid to help our fellow people out in times of crisis. They have failed in making us blink, in making us shut our doors and bolt our windows. They failed to cripple our government-in-exile, and they certainly have failed to spread their message of evil and extremism.

I hope my words have a positive impact this evening, but I understand the sadness that this day brings, and now more than ever is an important time for grieving, silence, and rest. Another day, however, will be before us, and Colonel Gomes and Hugo Alameida have returned to stable condition. In times of darkness, there will always be a light, and I want everyone to join me in making sure tomorrow is the arrival of that light. Let's make Christmas Day the best Christmas that Gomes and Alameida have ever received."

The New Oval Office - Presidential Mansion - Lisboa - The Morning of March 15, 2019

()

Melinda Wallace sat across from Suza Cameron, Mary Cromwell, and Dennis Hart. Sitting next to her were Murilo Gomes' temporary replacement, Daniel DiRossi, and mastermind of the invasion plan, Veronica Crawford.

"If we launch the preliminary invasion of May, we can replicate D-Day and take down the Christian Republic by 2020." Mary Cromwell said.

"D-Day is not a quick enough reference, concerning how long we take, that is." Wallace responded. "I want something like the invasion of 1066. We bomb Columbia on May 13, land in New York and Boston on May 13 as well, and have the CRA leadership dead by June 14. Anything longer will enhance the possibility of a protracted war." She said.

"Plus," Crawford added. "As long as we have a foothold on the continent, the CRA will begin turning on their own citizens if they fear a revolution will be inspired."

"That's what I'm most petrified by," Cameron said. "We can't have another Holocaust. The world said 'never again', and I don't want to be alive for one."

DiRossi chimed in. "With the combined air forces of Brazil, Portugal, France, and Britain, such a quick invasion isn't impossible, but we will need to plan the date and consider tides, weather, and other factors." He said. "We have to be very precise, we can't approximate for such a thing."

"And where exactly are they expecting us to land now?" Cromwell asked. "Have we misinformed them with Golden Dragon yet?"

"Yes, we believe that their intelligence have picked up Golden Dragon, and we can only hope that they are put into a pretty good kerfuffle over it." Wallace responded.

"God, I truly hope this is a concrete plan." Cameron said, taking a swig of the tall glass of water on her desk. "The world hasn't seen an invasion like this in quite a long time."

"I believe we will succeed." Wallace said. "If we fail, we fail America."

"Well, let us model our hopes on your conviction, Colonel Wallace." Suza Cameron said. The group then concluded their meeting and bid their goodbyes.

Directorate of Intelligence - New Tiberias, Virginia

()

April 30, 2019 -

Operation Golden Dragon was all anybody was talking about at the Directorate. Anyone that was left at leasr. Most of the lower staff was missing, starved, jailed, or relocated to another location. Most of the offices were eerily empty, and there was a sense of apocalypse amongst the remaining spies and analysts.

One room was relatively full, and that was Meeting Room 1096-B. Soundproofed and surrounded with armored walls and an armored door. Inside was Matthew Bing, Daniel Hartley, and several other high ranking clandestine officers. They were huddled around two manila folders, one which read OPERATION RED DRAGON and another OPERATION GOLDEN DRAGON.

"They're deceiving us. We should have known in November." Bing said.

"Of course we should have known, you foolish pig." Hartley said in return. "You really failed us, you moron." He spat, his voice feeling like venom dripping from the fanged mouth of a viper.

"Which one is the deceptive invasion? Do we have any inkling of a thought of the real one?" An officer asked.

Bing stayed silent, glaring at his boss, before returning to the matter. He looked down at the Golden Dragon folder. "Probably Golden Dragon. Landing on the shores of Columbia is daring, but if they want to strike fast and destroy us, they'd hope to strike as in our heart."

"And what of Red Dragon, will they not try to invade Miami or Charleston?"

"I now believe that Red Dragon is a deception. It's not going to happen." Bing said.

"I need your absolute confidence." Hartley said. "You must know now."

Bing hesitated, and looked at both folder again. "Golden Dragon. We must prepare for Golden Dragon."

BREAKING: AMERICAN FLEETS MOBILIZE OFF VIRGINIA BEACH

May 12, 2019

We have just received word that the Christian Republican navy has mobilized its Marian, Paulian, and Trinity fleets off of the coast of Virginia Beach and surrounding areas of the Atlantic ocean. It is unknown if this is related to the growing reports of civil disturbance in the country.

Last year saw several emergency exercises held by the Christian Republican navy and airforce in the Atlantic ocean. This year has seen an increase of exercises, but military experts say this mobilization is not an exercise, but an actual emergency preparation for some sort of conflict. The nature of such a conflict is not known to BBC at the time.

Military expert and former Admiral Xavier MacClare speaks on the breaking news.

"This is highly unusual, and even with the previous exercises we have seen in past months,
this is something that is not usual and something that is very indicative of an impending invasion. I don't know who they are defending from, but the formation of the fleets suggests a defense of the Potomac against an invading fleet."

Prime Minister Harriet Harman has spoken on the developing story.

"I am watching this mobilization very closely. It is of utmost importance and a very serious matter."

This is a developing story.

New York City - Morning of May 13, 2018

()

A young woman, of middling social status, woke up nauseous. It was today, or never. As she came to, she heard yelling and marching outside her Midtown apartment. Her husband was gone, killed in Pittsburgh as he fought to steal food for the city's starved residents. It was only her now, and she wanted to destroy. Still, she brushed her teeth and washed her face, performing the same daily rituals she had been accustomed to. Rituals a revolution couldn't break. In the kitchen, she drank a single, strong shot of contraband vodka. On the kitchen counter was her special ID. "Former Catholic. CLASS C." She scowled at the ID and threw it across the room.

She put on her black jacket, black jeans, and black mask, given to her by revolutionaries days ago during the marches in the Bronx. The revolutionary who gave the items to her was shot moments after her, an image seared into her eyes, an image always visible when she closes them. The young woman then walked out of her shabby apartment and onto the chaotic street in Midtown. Several burning cars were lining the streets as gunfire could be heard from every side.

Hundreds were on her street alone. Throughout the city, she could have guessed there were millions marching on the street. However, it was no longer a march, but a revolution. The peace evaporated as soon as Hawthorne laughed in the face of possible reforms and an opening up of society. It evaporated when hundreds were killed in Pittsburgh, thousands in Los Angeles, and thousands in Tijuana. He destroyed them, so they will destroy his theocracy. People marched in the street, tearing up CRA flags and burning the remains. The young woman watched happily as one of the flags burned. Red and white stripes, with a single golden cross in the middle and central black star within that cross. All in flames. As the thousands of people marched towards city hall, they intersected with another massive group, where they then confronted a squad of heavily armed CRA peacekeepers.

The young woman looked at the peacekeepers proudly wearing their black Kevlar vests dazzled with golden crosses, firing indiscriminately in the crowd. Lots of people died in those few minutes of sustained firing, but a Molotov cocktail disoriented the gunmen, and soon they were overwhelmed by a flurry of revolutionaries. The gunmen were torn apart. Arms ripped from torsos, heads ripped from necks. It was a mess of gore and blood, but from that vile filth was a sense of direct justice, a justice nearly eighty years in the making. Laws failed the people, and laws made them miserable and oppressed. Revolution was the only suitable, moral, and realistic option.

Soon, it began to rain, and then it began raining heavily, but that did not stop the people. They eventually reached the Governor's Palace in Lower Manhattan. They marched in and defenestrated a surrendering secretary, who ran away after recovering from his fall. Inside the Palace, the Governor's office staff committed suicide by ingesting some pills circulated amongst them. The governor himself was captured before he could kill himself, and the revolutionaries tied a noose around his neck, broke a window on the fifth floor, and threw him out.

The city was won. As the young woman looked at the dangling Governor's corpse, a sense of shock and disgust fell over her a she saw his pathetic corpse slam into the brick facade of his palace, but soon a sense of energy and happiness soon replaced that feeling. As she began laughing at the sight of her tormentors being finally rid of this world, she looked up at the sound of rushing jets. A squadron of fighter jets zoomed over the city, soon separating in a fascinating pattern. After a few moments, the sounds of large explosions could be heard.

YESSSS. Your writing is of very high quality, this is great.
Also, interesting- Golden Dragon says they'll be landing in Columbia, but they'll actually be landing in NYC and Boston. A double-deception, smart.

Thank you to everyone for the kind words and positive reception! :)

A few notes:

- Yes, the United States GiE, along with Brazil and Portugal, utilized a complex misinformation campaign to fool the Christian Republic into believing there were different invasions on different parts of the Atlantic Coast.

As we know so far -

Red Dragon - Amphibious invasion of Charleston and Miami (deceptive)

Golden Dragon - Naval invasion of the Potomac and amphibious invasion of Columbia (deceptive)

Indigo Dragon - Amphibious invasion of Boston and New York, massive bombing campaign of Columbia (real invasion)

----------------------------

As for the name of New York City, I feel like stylistically it would have been wise to keep some names so audiences can easily identify some cities without having to consult earlier notes on name changes.

New York City = same

Miami = same

Los Angeles = same

Tijuana = same

Washington, D.C. = Columbia

Langley = New Tiberias

Pittsburgh = New Bethlehem

WESTERN WORLD RALLIES AGAINST CRA

May 13, 2019 -

After a stunning surprise attack on New York City, Boston, and Columbia, much of the Western world has declared war on the Christian Republic. Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Portugal, Spain, the U.K., and the United States have all formally drafted declarations of war and enabled their legislatures to authorize usage of force against the CRA.

This sudden war is reportedly the result of years of diplomacy between American expats and European governments, especially under the DeLauro and Cameron governments. According to anonymous reports, an operation known as Indigo Dragon, which included the invasion of New York and Boston, had been in the works since the beginning of 2017. Parallels have already been drawn to D-Day 1944, where British and Australian forces stormed the Nazi-controlled French coast prior to French liberation.

Occurring concurrently is a protracted rebellion, or what seems to be a revolution, occurring in the Northeast, Midwest, and Western sections of the CRA. While rumors suggest United States intelligence organs fomented revolution, it is also likely that a severe famine and oppressive President has only made the revolt more inevitable.

This is a developing and highly volatile story. President Madalina Hutschler will speak at 12:45 PM today and address the nation.

Manassas Park, Virginia

Early Morning of May 14, 2019

Matthew Bing felt the wind gently brush up against his raw, beaten skin. He couldn't really see much ahead of him, as his eyes were very swollen. But he could hear very well, and all that filled the night air was the sound of distant bombs exploding, sirens, and crackling fires.

It was over. Not for the Christian Republic, not yet at least, but for Bing. Everyone relied on wrong information, and now people were dead and rotting in bombed streets. He was sure the invaders would float into the Potomac and be sunk like the pathetic pretenders they were. But he was wrong. They never appeared near the Potomac, nor did they fly over Miami or Charleston. Instead, radar picked up a flurry of fighter jets over New York and Boston, and soon, New York City fell to revolutionaries. Then, nearly simultaneously, men in black Kevlar with emblazoned golden crosses burst into Bing's house in Arlington, seized his wife and two sons, and seized Bing as well. They first punched him repeatedly, as he was quite resistant. Soon, however, as Bing heard the bombs drop on Columbia, he knew it was over for him. He let them put him in the black van and cart him to his death.

Now he was in Manassas Park, standing in a deserted golf course. It's been deserted for months, pillaged by revolutionaries as the Christian Republic slowly lost control. Now, it was a make shift execution center. A scaffold was erected at a relatively flat part of the course, made of several cinder blocks and recycled metal sheets stacked up. Several disheveled men stood around the scaffold, with three men atop of it.

An armed guard jammed his rifle into Bing's back, shoving him forward. Bing coughed and spat up blood, and looked at the blood splatter on the overgrown grass. He then looked up at his three executioners, one of which decorated in golden robes and a black frock. He held a bible and was flipping pages to an appropriate passage for executions. Another was a villainous figure, clad in black and red, with pale white skin and sunken blue eyes. His black hair matched his black cloak, as well as the black hilt of his sword.

Bing stepped onto the metal platform and faced his executioners. The remaining of them was in military uniform, and withdrew a torn sheet from his pocket.

"Matthew Bing, charged with failing to protect the Christian Republic of America, failing to protect the Holy Revolution, failing to protect the Blessed Lands, for failing his oath to God, and for gross incompetence and de-facto espionage, will be executed for his crimes and judged before God for his mortal failings. Signed, President Hawthorne." The military executioner said. "Does the accused and convicted have any last words?"

"No." Bing said, his face crinkling as tears began welling up. He preferred to be among his thoughts before he died. Seeing executions before, and many times applauding them, he knew the routine. Bing got down on his knees and kept his arms close to his torso. He bent his neck downwards, to expose as much of it as he could. Then, he began seeing images from his life, as is said to occur before death. However, Bing's life was sad, and was dedicated to nothing more than adding to the misery of others. The sword swung cleanly through his neck, cutting straight through tough skin, bone, and sinewy flesh.  His head rolled across the slick metal platform and onto the messy grass turf.

May 14, 2019 -

Melinda Wallace, feeling the sense of victory wash over her, saw the clock strike 4:36 AM.

"Team Alpha is closing in on McGuire-Holy Cross AFB. Fourteen seconds till primary strike." A man at a computer screen said. In front of Wallace was a large screen, taken from the cameras attached to a squadron of Brazilian fighter jets. The cameras filmed a dark stretch of South Jersey flatlands, with the lights of small towns and occasional burning cars penetrating the wall of black. Soon, the glow of an air force base filled up the screen, followed by several bright explosions as the Brazilian jets dropped bombs on the base.

"Team Alpha has completed the primary strike." Another voice rang out. "Ten seconds till secondary strike. One minute and thirteen seconds till landing." She said. Wallace watched as the base was once more lit up by a flurry of explosions. Planes were kept out of the bombing range, as they would be important loot once the base is cleared of Christian Republican forces. Several soldiers fled the burning barracks. They looked like scared ants with flashlights.

The Brazilian squadron landed on an empty stretch of the runway and unloaded their own soldiers, who immediately opened fire on their enemies. It was all over within a few minutes, with the remaining enemy forces fleeing, dying, or burning alive. One by one, Brazilian soldiers commandeered the remaining Christian Republican jets on the runway and flew them away. The base was left to burn until it was a smoldering ruin.

New York City - Morning of May 14, 2019

()

Richard Rosado finally reached the City Hall after nearly forty minutes. The streets were simply too packed with people to make fast travel possible. There was an infectious happiness and relief in the streets of New York. Rosado embraced it as he walked with people reveling, celebrating, and laughing. CRA flags were torn up and flown instead were pride flags, Brazilian flags, and the banned American flags. It felt unreal. Not that the CRA was gone from New York, but that it only took one day. Rosado walked with a sense of dreaminess, as if it wasn't real. He barely noticed the small minority of people leaving the city: CRA sympathizers who were exiled and refused to live in a realm they weren't in command of. Oh well, Ricardo thought, screw them and may they rot in Hell.

He stopped as he got to City Hall and looked upon the stone steps at an array of people standing there. He recognized a familiar face. Linda Garland. She was still wearing the same black uniform as she did yesterday when she marched with the revolutionaries. Rosado noticed she was wearing her special Catholic ID card. He also noticed she took a sharpie to it and defiled it. He smiled. He shredded his own card. Now he wished he hadn't, so he could do something creative with it like Linda did.

Richard's attention was then brought to a speaker, standing on the steps. He was a tall, grand revolutionary with a stapled piece of paper in his hands. He began speaking as the masses of people quieted down.

"It is a new, sunny day today, citizens. The masters have been banished and our chains have been lifted." He began. Thunderous applause and cheering followed. "We have seen it to it that the future is ours and will be taken from them by force."

Rosado smiled widely as the man continued speaking. It wasn't a particularly well-crafted speech, but none of that mattered. The most important bits were soon coming.

"And we, the citizens, proclaim the Christian Republic banished from  New York City. We proclaim them banished from New Jersey and Massachusetts, from Pennsylvania down to Florida, and from Virginia to the coasts of California. As they have taken from us, we will take from them. As they have taken our souls for their profits, we will take our souls back and render onto them our vengeance without mercy." More applause. "And, with the power of the citizenry and New Revolution by my side, I formally invite our steadfast supporters in the exiled government, including our socialist sister-in-power Suza Cameron, to lead us into glory and an age of liberation." And from that followed the biggest applause yet, even prompting Rosado to scream in joy and exhausted relief.

MEXICO INVADES BAJA CALIFORNIA PENINSULA

June 1, 2019 -

The Mexican military has invaded the CRA-occupied chunk of the Baja California Peninsula. The Christian Republic initially invaded the peninsula in the Spring of 2005 and occupied the entire peninsula until the Mexican army pushed them back to the border between Baja California and Baja California del Sur in July of 2005. The CRA has occupied it as a territory since July 2005.

Since around late April of 2019, the peninsula had fallen under the control of revolutionaries and Mexican nationalists. As the CRA continues to fall apart after an allied invasion led by Brazil, the U.K,  and France crippled the central government, Mexico invaded the peninsula with the goal of liberating the territory and freeing Tijuana from oppressive governance.

The sitting Mexican President, Ricardo Anaya Cortés, has delivered remarks, stating that "(I)t was a long overdue invasion that will free our Mexican brothers and sisters from a totalitarian government. It was the only choice I had." He says. Former Presidents Vicente Fox and Enrique Peña Nieto have applauded the invasion.

This is a developing story.

Valdosta, Dixie - June 1, 2019

()

President Michael James Hawthorne took off his jacket in his makeshift office at the Valdosta City Hall. Several secretaries and clergymen rushed around the room.

"Can someone get Father Wilton on the phone? Where on earth is he?" Hawthorne said as he read reports of revolutionaries expanding into the Atlanta suburbs. "This is a disaster. I can't believe this is happening!"

"Father Wilton is unreachable. He is reportedly in Oklahoma City." A secretary said.

"How on earth did he get there? He's supposed to stay with me!" Hawthorne asked. The secretary did not immediately respond. "Woman! Answer me when I speak to you!" He shouted.

The secretary jumped and began speaking "He was flown sometime this morning, sir, he claimed he was visiting family in Nablus Court."

"My god, he's rebelling against me too." Hawthorne said, rubbing his brow and sitting back down. "Get me Father Howard-Reading."

"He's missing, sir."

"What?"

"We cannot locate him. It is possible he has flown to another location as well."

"Dear lord in heaven, what about the Vice-President?"

"He is an en route to Valdosta."

"At least someone is loyal to me." Hawthorne said. "Hell awaits the Fathers."

Hawthorne then turned on the TV situated in his office. It was set on state-controlled media, but the signal was fuzzy and the information totally unreliable. Hawthorne switched to the CBC, broadcasting from Canada.

"And, Michelle, it looks like Allied and Canadian forces have repelled the final CRA forces stationed in London. It looks like they won the battle." A man's voice said, speaking over helicopter footage of London, Ontario being swept by the Canadian military.

"Wow, John, a twenty-year occupation is finally coming to an end. Do we have any idea of what the people on the ground are like? How they are reacting?" A woman's voice said.

Hawthorne shut the TV off and threw the remote at a fancy vase by the door. The golden vase shattered into several jagged, ugly pieces.

Quick question: you use real people's photos for some of the characters (e.g. John Thune for President Hawthorne, Hillary Clinton for Melinda Wallace, etc.). Are those people the same as OTL just with different names, or do Melinda Wallace and Hillary Clinton (well probably Hillary Rodham, I can't imagine she met Bill in the CRA) and John Thune and Michael Hawthorne all coexist in the same universe, or something else? One of those nagging, unimportant questions I've had.

I just use them as placeholders, and since I want to give them some sort of character. HRC as we know her was either never born or lived an uneventful life. Melinda Wallace is her own person and looks like HRC.

But since it's such a radically different TL, most people born >1945 were probably not born or were born to refugee families. Bernie Sanders is someone who probably had to flee.

Weren't the Phelpses civil rights lawyers? that would clash with the segregationists and racists of the CRA. However in other regards, their blatan homophobia and anti-semitism and probable islamophobia would be perfect in this state.

Black revolutionaries overthrew the CRA along the Mississippi, along with a minority of poor whites. Most whites in the South were the favored citizens of the CRA, so they are the most loyal.

Ascalon, Dakota - Afternoon of July 12, 2019

()

The day was sweltering. Summer in the Plains got worse every year. Father Wilton had fled to Ascalon, Dakota (formerly Omaha, Nebraska) as he saw the central government collapse. Now, he was on the verge of creating a new one.

Father Wilton prepared his remarks, giving them a once-over before walking into the library. In the library, a crude camera was set up, attended by clergymen and technicians. Wilton sat down in front of the camera and before a bookcase. He turned around and made sure the bookcase was stocked with blatant and very visible Christian texts. The Bible? Obviously present. Luther's Theses? Next to the Bible. The Treachery of Catholicism? There. The Nature of Jews? There.

Wilton exhaled and set his sights on the little red dot on the camera. It began blinking as the cameraman motioned for Wilton to begin speaking.

"Good afternoon, America. My name is Father Joseph Lance Gregory Wilton. Some of you may know who I am, but I gather many of you don't.

I was born in 1947, in good ol' Jericho, when it was known as Nashville, as it was named by secularists and idolaters. When I was born, the Holy Revolution was beginning to take this country by storm, and awaken the great Christ-fearing souls in our land. I don't remember much from that time, but I do remember the erection of great cathedrals and the demolition of so many monuments to filth and sin. It was a great time. It was an American time.

Now look where we are. Invaded by pretenders. Falsifiers. Frauds. Jews. All of the sad ilk and their enablers have come upon our sacred land and pillaged our cities and villages. And what is "President" Hawthorne doing? Nothing. He's a pansy. A liar. A coward. He is failing our nation, our revolution, and he's failing you, the people.

I'm speaking today to remind everyone what our country was, and what destiny has for our country's future. It is God's destiny, not mine, nor Hawthorne's, nor the sinners'. God's. Our nation is a holy one, and I am humbly chosen by our lord to lead it from this point forward. Hawthorne, once a great Christian and moral leader, has let his demons lead him astray. I, with the aid of Jesus, our Lord, will never wander from my path.

As I sit here now, I proclaim the Holy Republic of America. With its capital in great Ascalon, this new Republic will stay true to theocracy and holy order. I will make sure of it."

Allied Command Center - Winnipeg, Canada - Same time

Six military intelligence officers sat around a control panel. A TV, playing Wilton's address live, was in front of them. Several of the officers were typing on keyboards and punching in various commands. Gradually they all stopped and looked at their commanding officer, who stood at the front of the room.

"Okay," He started. He was a member of Brazilian intelligence. "Cut it."

The TV was on, set to BBC. A laptop near Melinda Wallace was tuned into state-run media. Wilton was speaking with an increasingly angry and passionate tone.

"And when I lead us back towards Jesus, and the end days tick closer to us, we will know we are the saved ones. We will know our Republic is blessed, unlike the fouled Republic of Hawthorne. I know - "

And then the TV was off.

Wallace burst into a laughing fit, followed closely by her colleagues and lower officers.

YES. Got chills.

Hawthorne then turned on the TV situated in his office. It was set on state-controlled media, but the signal was fuzzy and the information totally unreliable. Hawthorne switched to the CBC, broadcasting from Canada.

Does (or did) Fred Phelps ever hold a position in the CRA?

Weren't the Phelpses civil rights lawyers? that would clash with the segregationists and racists of the CRA. However in other regards, their blatan homophobia and anti-semitism and probable islamophobia would be perfect in this state.

Hm, imo Phelps is such an evil man that there is no way him being a civil right lawyer actually meant that he was principled on this subject. I think that in this universe, he'd be a very enthusiastic CRA supporter who'd take an important role in the government.

As I sit here now, I proclaim the Holy Republic of America. With its capital in great Ascalon, this new Republic will stay true to theocracy and holy order. I will make sure of it."

Going backwards in time
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Newark Airport - Early Morning of July 4, 2019

()

Suza Cameron slowly descended the airplane stairs onto the tarmac. She stood for a few seconds on the final step before taking the final plunge. Her feet hit the tarmac. They hit American land, of which she has not set foot on since 1976. Cameron immediately got down on her hands and knees and kissed the cold, hard tarmac. It was homecoming at last, long-awaited, long-overdue, and long-desired.

The ride from Newark to Manhattan was more of a procession. It took about four hours to complete, and mostly consisted of Cameron greeting a wide array of revolutionaries, starving citizens, cheerful workers, and a general body of people who snapped under misery and overthrew their suzerains. Cameron saw every one of their faces, and despite never seeing any of them before, she knew she was home.

She and her team, heavily guarded to protect her from a stray CRA sympathizer or armed zealot, eventually arrived to her designated speaking podium at New York City Hall at around 8:45 AM.

()

"From the bottom of my heart, I say this with outstretched arms," Cameron began, spreading her arms, "we have returned home!" The applause was thunderous. There must have been thousands packed before her. "Welcome to a New America!"

"I am America, and so are all of you! No longer are we a nation of hate, of misery, of killing, nor of starvation. We are a nation born anew, a nation born today that will reconquer our destiny from the evildoers and bigoted hatemongers who wrestled control of it seventy years ago! We all belong here, and we're going to defeat Hawthorne and his theocrats on the battlefield if they don't accept our right to survive, thrive, and exist!"

Cameron raised her fist into the air. "I proclaim here and now, in New York City, and on Independence Day itself of Twenty-Nineteen, at 8:50 AM, that the United States is re-established." Applause, deafening in its ferocity. "As I can see, and as you can feel, we are an oppressed people, an emaciated people, a people of mistreated workers, laborers and slaves, a people smashed under the hard boot of an Orwellian state, a people arrested by those who dare call themselves Christian and wear golden crosses on their uniforms of hate and monstrosity." Cameron continued. "We're gathered her today to proclaim our reversal of such an arrangement. We will no longer suffer under tyranny. We will no longer starve as the theocrats and aristocrats dine well on medium-rare steak cutlets with mashed potatoes and hearty salads. The food and wealth belong to us, not to be controlled by the few. The prizes of our economy and property of our homes must no longer be held by the tyrants. This government must no longer be stocked with medieval men, who want black people in chains, women bare-feet and pregnant, Jews dead, and LGBTQ citizens hanged in public. They are evil, my citizens. Evil is not manifested commonly amongst humanity, but when it is, it is manifested horribly and harshly.

However, after nearly eighty years, we see that evil will always be contrasted by goodness, by human kindness, by love." She said, emphasizing 'love' so much that her voice cracked. "Love of our neighbors, of our friends, or our people, regardless of their skin color, gender, social status, and who they want to be with." She said. "Isn't that the Christian way?"

"My citizens, I ask that you all embark on this journey with me. It will be a long, hard journey, I can assure you. It's not a re-election campaign. It's not a campaign to unite us and our oppressors and find common ground. These men have no perception of common ground. It's either their Hitler-fantasy government, or nothing." She said, prompting booes, hisses, and moans of fear and terror. "No, we must abandon foolish ideas of centrism and reconciliation with people like that. Now, we are not a violent stock of citizens. We do not wish death upon others. We do not want to kill and feel the psychological punishments of ending another human being's life. War is Hell." She said. "But, so is tyranny. So is an extremist ultra-Christian realm which practices segregation, state anti-Semitism, state terror, and is a violator of our most sacred international human rights laws." She claimed.

"When we saw the horrors of the Holocaust in 1945, we said to ourselves, 'Never Again!'. But when we saw our Nation collapse before our eyes, as the men we thought we defeated in World War II take control of America and impose their Neo-Naziism, Nativism, and Fascism on our country, we realized very quickly that we failed our goal of 'Never Again'. Well folks, as long as I'm alive, we won't fail again!" Cameron shouted, putting both clenched fists into the air.

"We will strike them and disintegrate the Christian Republic of America. We will abolish the new manifestation of slavery, and we will free our citizens from Virginia to Missouri, and from Michigan to California. No municipality unreleased from the jaws of hate, no county unliberated from the control of fascists, no state unshackled from chains. And most importantly, most dear to all of us, no human throughout this land will be unfreed!" She said.

"My citizens, from all walks of life, you are united by your love for one another! I am united with you, because I love what you all stand for. You overthrew the suzerains of New York and proclaimed the destiny that was stolen from you is back in your hands. I love that passion for humanity, and it is that passion that will lead us to victory in the dark days ahead. Please mind the cliche!" Cameron said to a round of laughter.

"Please, citizens of the United States, accept me as your new humble President, and together, with every citizen by citizens' side, let us defeat the Christian Republic and reclaim our future!"

Also, a question- could you explain the roles of the two Fathers in the government? Are they like Cabinet secretaries?

Thanks for the questions!

Yeah Ascalon is a boring city, but the theocrats in control of renaming cities probably had a huge boner for renaming any city they could to something in the Levant. Considering they were also Nativists shut-ins, don't expect them to know jack about contemporary Israeli society.

And yeah, about Phelps, that does make sense. He would be an ardent CRA sympathizer. He would definitely occupy an important role, like a top propagandist or church official. I don't believe the Westboro Baptist Church would have any point in existing, since the CRA is the Westboro Baptist Church but also in control of America. I'm assuming his family make up the national CRA choir.

"Also, a question- could you explain the roles of the two Fathers in the government? Are they like Cabinet secretaries?"

Good question. No, they aren't any official member of the government, but they are official clergymen and high-ranking men of the church in America. And since it's a theocracy, they are institutionally tied with the state. Since it's also a corrupt country, they are given loads of unofficial power and influence over civil affairs.

I guess their roles would have been advising Hawthorne on religious and social policy, reaping state benefits, and generally appearing before cameras to peddle their ideologies.

Winter Haven, Dixie - Afternoon of July 14, 2019

()

Vice President, now styling himself as President, Max Derry,
stood in the damp heat and looked at several reports in his hand. He was surrounded by a garden of caladiums and vibrant, red roses. The sky was a peaceful blue interrupted with puffy white clouds. Enemy forces were closing in on Columbia hard, and revolutionaries within the city were butchering the military stationed there.

A secretary interrupted Derry. "Sir, Hawthorne has called again. He's offering you the Vice Presidency back if you surrender immediately."

"Tell Hawthorne to shove it. He's a dead man walking." Derry said.

"Yes, sir." The secretary said, walking back into the city hall.

Derry resumed looking at his reports. Enemy forces, under Brazilian and U.S. forces, have already taken a slew of cities. New York, New Bethlehem, Richmond, Philadelphia, Chicago, and now Columbia itself? Madness, Derry thought. He focused on the Brazilians in the report. Jungle coons, he again thought, a scowl forming on his lips.

Another secretary entered. "Mr. President, The Mayor of Tampa is on the line in your office, should I patch him through to the garden phone?" He asked.

"Yes, Phillip. Please." Derry responded. He set down the papers on a glass table and walked over to the phone situated on a wooden bench. Derry picked up the phone.

"Hello, Mayor Wilkinson?"

"Max Derry?" The voice said.

"Yes? Mr. Mayor?" Derry responded and paused for a brief moment. Then, a great pain shot through his body as if he were hit by a brick and his vision went black. Blood splattered all over the caladiums and roses. He could no longer hear, and his vision became white. Derry was still alive, and could feel warm liquid running down his ears and down his forehead. His vision came to. The blue sky was tinted red, as were the clouds. It's as if he were wearing rose-tinted glasses. Derry had trouble blinking, and he barely noticed his left side twitching.

The new secretary, Phillip, appeared before him, standing over his twitching body. He had a blank stare at first, but began grimacing as he continued looking at Derry's pathetic body. Max Derry began crying tears of blood, and reached out to Phillip. Phillip took out a pistol and shot Derry between the eyes.

Winter Haven, Dixie - Afternoon of July 14, 2019

()

In the minutes following blowing Derry's brains out, "Phillip" had quickly left the Winter Haven City Hall. Deborah, a denigrated secretary, helped him leave, showing him a secret exit. Phillip stripped his clothes in a desolate alley way and put on a janitorial uniform, fake moustache, blue contacts, and a wig. Sirens began wailing as he was already at his extraction point.

He pulled out his phone and punched in the special number.

"Carlos." The voice said.

"Sim." Carlos replied. "Derry é morto."

"Perfeito. Onde está voce?"

"O ponto de extração." Carlos said. He looked out the window, onto the street. No police, no military, no cars. He really did get away without a hint of detection.

"Bem. Extração está iminente."

COLUMBIA TAKEN BY U.S. FORCES

()

Allied forces have proclaimed victory today, July 30, in taking the city of Columbia from the Christian Republic. The battle commenced on May 29, shortly after the Allied invasion of New York and Boston. Since about May 19, the city was under siege of revolutionaries and rebels, with President Hawthorne and his government fleeing on May 28.

With this proclamation of victory, most of Virginia is under allied occupation, adding to Allied-controlled states. As of July 30, Allied forces control New York, New England, and Erie. They are expected to win the sieges of Toledo and Lansing by the end of the Summer.

Meanwhile, a combination of Californian, Allied, and Mexican forces have succeeded in taking the California coast, as well as Las Vegas, Tuscon, and Phoenix. California is expected to join the United States via proclamation on December 1.

I just tried thinking of what my family would've done in such a circumstance, before I remembered that the earliest family member of mine to live in the U.S. was in the 1950s. So I never existed thanks to the CRA... my parents met after immigrating here. How did Cuba fare during the 20th century with the CRA next door?

Well, in this timeline's 21st century, Cuba is a democracy, although it still had a troubled past. It was a U.S. client state until the U.S. collapsed in the 1950s. Without support of US interests, Cuban landownders, and the American/Cuban sugar cane industry, Bautista was never able to mount a coup. The 1940 constitution remained intact and was amended sparingly over the next seventy-nine years. Communists never gained much support due to the country emerging as a stable democracy into the 1960s and 1970s, but socialists, social dems, and left-wingers did.

The Mission of the New Union

November 1, 2019

1. Destroy the Christian Republic.

2. Secure the new United States' future and stamp out fascist,
white supremacist, and theocratic remnants.

3. Restore human rights, civilized national integrity, federalism, and mutual unity throughout the land.

4. Ensure political, social, and economic equality for every citizen and resident of the United States.

5. Create a mixed economy that is not susceptible to the worst aspects of greed and capitalism.

6. Disintegrate the inhumane discrimination against skin color, sex, gender identity and sexual orientation, religion, national origin, political expression, free press, organized labor, and personal livelihood.

7. Create a modernized and inclusive Bill of Rights, and a stronger Constitution to safeguard against extremism.

8. Ensure regular, fair, and safe elections, beginning in 2022. Utilize modern voting policy that encourages multi-party democracy where all voices are heard. Utilize run offs to ensure consensus and legitimacy.

9. Seek justice for all Christian Republic officials guilty of crimes against humanity. Punish those guilty to send a message to CRA sympathizers that the United States does not tolerate genocide, ethnic cleansing, war crimes, apartheid states, or caste states.

10. Create a nation that is ever vigilant, never complacent, and a nation which loves people of all walks of life and rejects politics of hate, genocide, segregation, and intolerance.

Damn, I got chills. Amazing.
Also, what's happening with Israel and Russia ITTL? Did the Soviets fall naturally (and the iron curtain with them), earlier or later? What about Israel, did it manage to survive on its own (I'm almost certain it could- we'd just find other allies, like Brazil), and is it more left-wing in this universe considering the CRA's existence probably causing seething hate against it and constantly reminding of the dangers of right-wing extremism?
Also, I assume that Israel, if existing. also declared war on the CRA. It's one of our nation's proclaimed goals to defend all Jews in the world, so I wouldn't be surprised if wer were in a constant (official) state of war with the CRA, and certain that our intelligence services were actively engaged in the efforts against it for decades.

CRA SPLITS

- December 14, 2019. Tel Aviv.

The CRA has effectively split into two hostile factions as negotiations between Joseph Wilton and Michael Hawthorne have collapsed. The negotiations, dubbed the Birmingham Conference, were meant to ease tensions between Wilton, Hawthorne, and their respective supporters since Wilton delivered a televised address earlier this fall declaring independence. Apparently, Wilton has not backed down from independence and has reportedly left Birmingham in the middle of the night. Hawthorne has not yet spoken on the issue.

It is likely that the United States will be splitting the CRA into two chunks if they seize full control of Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana. If so, Wilton has made it clear that he will lay claim to all CRA territory west of the Mississippi. Hawthorne and his supporters have rebuffed Wilton and have made it clear that such an act will be treasonous and sinful.

President Suza Cameron has sardonically welcomed the news, stating that "Any split among them is welcomed, as it means unity is closer for us." The United States has recently celebrated a victorious siege of Toledo, which allowed the U.S. to liberate more of coastal Michigan and Ohio.

A New Post. A New Washington. A New Era.

NEW ORLEANS SEIZED BY U.S.

- February 2, 2020. Washington.

U.S. forces have successfully besieged the city of New Orleans after a four-month long protracted battle against the CRA military. The successful siege has now placed an incredibly important port city into the hands of U.S. It also has given Suza Cameron a great strategic opporunity, opening up the Gulf Coast to U.S. invasion. It has also split the CRA into Hawthorne-backed and Wiltonite factions, making a CRA civil war very likely. With civil war on the horizon, the U.S.  holding New Orleans is more important than ever.

This is a developing story.

Civil War within the CRA intensifies

()

March 15, 2020 -

The Civil War rankling the Christian Republic of America seems to get more violent, devastating, and complex by the day.

Michael Hawthorne continues to rule as President of much of the southeast of America, now referred to as Dixie. Joseph Wilton, since peace talks broke down in December, commands territory chiefly composed of the Plains states. Both Hwathornite and Wiltonite loyal states are bisected by the US-controlled Mississippi River. Reports suggest that neither Hawthorne nor Wilton are in control of much of the areas beyond their capitals.

Several splinter states have broken off from Wilton's CRA. In Hawthorne-controlled Dixie, the cities of Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Atlanta, Charleston, and Charlotte have broken off and formed hostile communes that have pledged allegiance to the US.

The primary battlegrounds are in the Lower Mississippi valley, where Hawthornite, Wiltonite, and Ozark Christians fight for control of the area. Other battle-heavy areas are eastern Tennessee, western Virginia, and parts of North Carolina, where fighters from US-allied Appalachia, Hawthornites, and US forces fight to control the rest of Virginia.

Mexican Army consolidates control in Baja Peninsula,
uncovers evidence of mass shootings, executions, and genocide.

January 29, 2020 -

As Mexico pushes back the final remnants of the CRA skeleton army stationed in Tijuana, the full gravity of their rule on the peninsula has been uncovered. Mexican soldiers have, over the course of many months, uncovered what are now believed to be concentration camps, execution centers, and as many feared, death camps akin to those found in the Holocaust.

First reported in the summer of 2019, these camps were initially believed to be labor camps, or detention centers for CRA prisoners, but the discovery of underground chambers and firing areas have confirmed the world's worst fears. In Tijuana, which was liberated last month after a period of protracted urban warfare, Mexican soldiers have uncovered very recent evidence of gas executions and firing squads, deducing that the CRA stationed in the city had conducted the genocide in the last ninety days. Piles of bodies were discovered and have since been cleaned and prepared for burial.

Current estimates report that at least 90,000 have been killed since December of 2019.

This is a developing story.

Temporary Headquarters of the United States Intelligence Department - Secaucus, NJ - February 19, 2020

"No. Pinch me and tell me that didn't just f**king happen." Melinda Wallace said, watching the satellite video feed recorded by a drone way in the sky. The video was showing a desolate parking lot, somewhere in Athens, Georgia. Three men, clad in black and armored with rifles, stood over a casually-dressed man lying flat on the pavement, a deep red pool of blood pooling under him.

The control room was stunned into silence and fear. "They killed him. They killed Bryant."

"Damn it!" Wallace shouted and threw her pen across the room. "Goddamn it!"

"We can fire at anytime, ma'am." An officer said.

"No, not now." She said. "But we need to start thinking of something here and now. Bryant was our only contact in Athens letting people know of the round-ups. People were escaping thanks to him."

"We can send in Melissa Cathcart. She can slip in via the Tennessee border and nobody would notice."

"Maybe, but how long would that take? Without Bryant, the CRA is going to start rounding people up and sending them to death camps. Now that they know we have eyes there, they're gonna start killing even more to weed out people." Wallace said, pausing to think for a few moments. "Jesus!"

Wallace then sat down and began writing things on her keyboard, typing quickly without really thinking. She was sending commands to her inferiors in the D office.

"Contact Simpson, Jones, Michaelson, and Stevenson immediately. Call them and say 'Hi, is this John Ackerton?' and hang up after they respond." Wallace typed and hit send as soon as her finger hit the enter key.

"Okay!" Wallace exclaimed and stood up. "Simpson, Jones, Michaelson, and Stevenson are on their way to their individual hideouts until we can better assess the situation and where to now proceed."

"Are they safe there? Would getting them out be a better option?" An office replied, being careful not to sound insolent.

"I don't know. But if we do get them out, we won't be able to get anyone in fast enough to warn people about the impending genocides." Wallace said, a knot of sickness developing in her throat as she let herself say genocide. It really was happening there, in America. They came so close to stopping a genocide and freeing the country, but maybe it was their invasion that finally got the CRA to begin killing. Maybe they thought that their iron rule is so threatened, that they'd rather kill their own people rather than let them thrive and survive under a loving state. Or perhaps they're afraid that the Jews, gays, Black people, and laborers will betray them and give information to spies. Wallace shuddered and sat back down.

She drafted an email to office Q. "Use drones to recircle all of the Athens area. Maybe we missed something, some sort of facility or large building. Find anything that can be used to contain large groups of people and have it sent to me within twenty-four hours. Preferably within six hours." Enter.

"We find those bastards' death camps," Wallace started, and she very much wished she could proclaim that they'd bomb them, but she knew that bombing a warehouse fulling of people would drive her to suicide. "and we will clear them out even if it means invading Georgia."

Christian Front Claims Responsibility for Princeton Attack

March 18, 2020 -

The militant terrorist sect known as the Christian Front has claimed responsibility for today's horrific bombing in Princeton, New Jersey, which has so far claimed the lives of 49.

The group is very mysterious, and not much is known about its leadership, other than the fact that it is headed by militant preacher Joshua Fallin. It is speculated that they are bankrolled by Hawthornites in the CRA.

A statement released by the Christian Front claims responsibility for the attack and reads: "We have struck the sinful United States and will not stop striking until the pretenders remove themselves from our holy lands and restore Christian government to the region. The people killed today were collaborators of the sinful regime and deserve their place in Hell alongside frauds, sodomites, adulterers, and Jews."

The statement was video footage delivered to us via encrypted email.

President Suza Cameron is scheduled to visit Princeton, NJ tomorrow morning, alongside Vice-President Harry Azar. The National Assembly is set to launch an investigation into the bombing.

Secretary of Defense Mary Cromwell spoke to reporters minutes ago, stating: "Terrorists will not cripple our reborn country, nor will they make us afraid to live our lives and thrive in a new, prosperous, and welcoming country. We will make it absolutely clear to terrorists that their violence and murder will never be forgotten, and we will punish them even if it takes ten years."

The White House - Morning of April 14, 2020

()

()

President Cameron silently signed each of the documents sprawled on her desk. Melinda Wallace looked on with a stoic, silent expression. Night-time attack on the Athens industrial district by air, three special ops teams move in simultaneously to attack the CRA headquartered at City Hall, and three more teams infiltrate suspected concentration camps on the periphery of town. Incredibly risky operation, 56% chance of failure, with some officials saying a 61% chance of failure. Compromise possible, capture possible, execution likely.

Wallace had a headache, and a dry throat. But she knew it was a necessary operation, even if it failed. They had to know what was happening in Athens, and by unlocking the gruesome secrets in that city, they had a better idea of what the regime was doing in Birmingham and Mobile. Wallace closed her eyes to take the reality in. Genocide. In America. The Land that gave troops to fight genocidaires in Germany now hosted them at the same time. In the picturesque streets of Athens, Georgia, where slaves had once been shackled and lynchings common. Where whites had partitioned blacks into apartheid hoods and kept them imprisoned in their own cities. As Wallace sat and pondered how this could have happened in America, she considered the reality that perhaps it was just the natural continuation of American history. A history of murder, slavery, segregation, and hate.

Wallace went back to that thought she had weeks ago, thinking she'd kill herself if she endangered prisoners or innocents locked up in camps. Her memories brought her back to the first pictures she'd seen of Dachau, and of Auschwitz, all of the starving people and children. She remembers sitting in her parents' cheap apartment in Ireland, just a few years after they left the refugee camp Wallace doesn't remember how she got a hold of the pictures, maybe they were torn from a history book or handed out by activists. It wasn't important how she got them, but it was important to remember how she felt then, and how she feels now. She wanted to go back in time and rescue them, but she couldn't. Her time was now, and she really did want to airlift people out of Athens, and Mobile, and Orlando, and every other imprisoned city in the South. But, it was ensnared by Hawthornites, by pathetic remnants of a white supremacist realm not unlike Hitler's. Any false move could result in the deaths of thousands of prisoners and victims of genocide, and that is something Wallace could not accept.

President Cameron Remarks to the United States - May 1, 2020

()

"Citizens, it is with horror and disgust that I announce that the United States has uncovered evidence of genocide in the Christian Republic occupied state of Georgia. I can confirm recent breaking reports from the Washington Post as being true.

At about 11:30 PM, April 30, a special squadron of the U.S. military has raided suspected concentration camps in Athens, Georgia and liberated thousands of imprisoned people, who we now believe would have been executed by the CRA for sham convictions of dissidence and heresy.

I implore Congress to authorize an invasion of Georgia, Florida, and the Carolinas, so we can halt the genocides and bring the leaders of the CRA to justice.

It is important that we intervene now and save hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of lives that would have otherwise been lost to genocidaires and murderers. It will bring us one step closer to achieving a permanent peace on this continent, and firmly stomping out the virus that is evil, hatred, and bigotry in America.

Thank you, citizens, and may brighter, more peaceful days be ahead of us."

FLORIDA CONQUERED BY ALLIED FORCES

()

July 19, 2020

Allied forces, primarily under the command of General Bill Hollings of the Commune of Free Cities, have proclaimed that Florida has been liberated.

The Florida Campaign began in May of 2018 when revolutionaries seized control of Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Tampa, and Orlando. Since then, the newly re-established United States has funneled funds, arms, and manpower into the Commune.

Florida's liberation represents a massive milestone in the Allied efforts to destroy the CRA, and it is likely that the Hawthornite CRA will not last through the winter.

President Suza Cameron of the United States and President Antonio Norman of the Commune of Free Cities will speak at a joint press conference today in Richmond, Virginia.

Montgomery, Dixie - Night of July 12, 2020

Lora Mallory and her remaining family slept on firm, old mattresses that night. Along with maybe three dozen other people, mostly black and brown souls trapped in the camp barracks. Very little of the original guard remained, with most soldiers and guardsmen fleeing as the sound of jets and bombings increased by the day. The guards who remained were vicious, violent, and willfully negligent. Lora hadn't been properly fed in weeks, nor had her grandmother or sisters. She didn't know where her mother or father were, probably in separate quarters. Lora couldn't comprehend them being dead. Although she was old to conceptualize death, and she has seen murder all her life, she couldn't extend that cruel understanding to her own father, much less to her mother.

A group of black-and-gold clad guards came in, rather loudly and rambunctious too. They were drunk, and angry. Lora saw their eyes. They were bright and watery, but also emanated an aura of hate and disgust. Why were they here if they hated her and her people so much? Couldn't they just release them? Lora pored over the hopeless as she sat in her cot. She felt unbearably hot as well, the thick Southern heat closing in on her. The guards left the door open, probably on purpose, since they knew the fans have long stopped working and nobody came to repair them.

The guards began waking people up, hitting them, kicking them, spitting on them. They cursed everyone, calling them coons and the kids alligator bait. Lora's grandmother stirred awake easily, probably not truly being asleep. She was young for her role in life, only about 68. As she woke up, she motioned Lora, the youngest of the family, to slide into her bed. Lora did, and her grandmother clutched her tightly as the guards drunkenly sloshed around the beds.

"This one?" One of the guards said as he approached Lora and her grandmother.

"No, she's too old." Another said, sticking the grandmother with the end of his rifle. "Too old to enjoy her," he said, with a cruel laugh.

"Try out the niglet!" Another guard said, pointing at Lora. She began whimpering and looking at her grandmother, as the latter grabbed her tightly and shot a viperid glare at the guards. They pulled Lora away anyways, shoving the grandmother off of her bed. Lora began screaming, waking up her sisters. Prisoners never usually screamed before, seeing the pointlessness of it. But maybe it was the increasing ferocity of jets and the reality of liberation that gave Lora an energy. She screamed and kicked and spat back at the guards. They hit and kicked her back. One of them ended up bruising her legs trying to pry them open, but not before Lora's grandmother produced a hidden shank and slit his throat open.

One of them shot Lora's grandmother in the upper thigh, but she attacked him too. Soon, most of the prisoners ganged up on the remaining guards and beat them. The surviving two guards surrendered and fled the barracks.

Lora's grandmother bled badly from her leg wound.

2022 Shaping Up to be a Definitive Year in Politics

()

September 23, 2020

As the Revolution grows and the final vestiges of the Christian Republic are dismantled in the United States with the repeal of the ban on unmarried women holding property, attention is focusing on the 2022 election. Suza Cameron is by far the absolute favorite to win her first election since leaving exile, but other questions remain with regards to our political future.

Will we have a free-market economy, or a socialist one? Will we be somewhere in the middle, striking a welfare-capitalist tone or social democratic leftist framework?

Will parties be allowed? Many look to the extreme polarization preceding the Second Civil War as stemming from partisan violence between Rooseveltists and Segregationists. In this regard, Suza Cameron has announced that she will not help re-establish the Democratic or Republican parties, and will instead focus on forming a respectful, mutually cooperative multiparty system that is built on consensus rather than tribalism.

From that, how will we accomplish this? We certainly cannot rely on first-past-the-post voting systems, as they naturally facilitate two party systems. Multi-member districts might aid this goal, as will a system of proportional representation? Will we move towards a parliamentary country and ditch our ancien presidential regime? So many questions, yet it is important we ask them now and prepare to answer them in time for the 2022 elections.

The listed systems are very foreign to many Americans, although because we are in a Revolution and amongst a people desperate for change, it is not impossible to enact such groundbreaking change. We just saw the death of a punishing theocracy within two years, so a change from a presidential system to a parliamentary, multi-party democracy with multi-member districts is nigh out of reach.

The All-You-Need-To-Know for the 2022 Elections

December 12, 2020 -

Yesterday, President Cameron gave us a definitive timetable for the 2022 elections: May 14, 2022. Along with the announcement was the acknowledgment that it would be elections for the House, all Senatorial seats, and President simultaneously.

Cameron stated that the 2022 elections would be "utilized to better gauge the direction we want our new country to head in, as well as how we want our post-revolutionary society to be structured alongside economic, political, and social terms."

However, many liberated citizens don't know much about the candidates, nor their own leadership. As a response, the New York Times has established a new department dedicated to analyzing the 2022 elections and its participants.

Many issues are at play in the upcoming election, a very first for American people compared to the theocracy days when sham elections were piety and morality contests. Instead, the 2022 elections will likely feature debates surrounding capitalism, socialism, voting, partisanship, and social laws. We have prepared several spreadsheets analyzing the positions of many people in the government, as well as those vying for elected office and those we suspect will. Note: Not everyone listed is interested in running, such as Richard Marquez, who was stated he will remain on the ticket with Cameron in 2022.

()

This analysis above was compiled using possible candidates' past remarks, as well as their published platforms and remarks in office (if they are officeholders). As you can see above, there is a healthy consensus for social democracy, and a healthy consensus against communism. Socialism and Capitalism have more mixed receptions. You can notice Melinda Wallace supports neither socialism, capitalism, nor communism, but supports social democracy. This leads one to beg the questions: Isn't social democracy the result of a capitalist economy with welfarist and laborist aspects? Shouldn't someone supporting social democracy also support capitalism and socialism as social democracy is a combination of the two? Well, it's not that simple, as Wallace and many other politicians have nuanced reasons. Arthur Neville, Senator from Michigan, supports social democracy, socialism, and communism, but not capitalism, why? We have deduced, from his past positions and statements, that Neville is a solid leftists who supports socialistic and communist policies, and can support social democratic policies, but not if they rely to heavy on capitalism.

()

The above diagram attempts to section each of the listed possible candidates into three broad categories, then into several smaller subcategories. We have separated them into the Left, the Right, and the Collectivists, with the Collectivists being the far-left.

Among the left, we have President Cameron, Vice President Marquez, National Security Head Wallace, Defense Secretary Cromwell, and Senator Neville from Michigan. The former three belong to the social left, Cromwell to the center left, and Neville swings back to the left end of the spectrum. With this analysis, it can be said that "Cameronites" of the social left bridge the gap between center-leftists like Cromwell and hard-leftists like Neville. It is this reason that social commentators have called social leftists in the government "Bridge Leftists".

On the right, we have Special Advisor Crawford, Senator Wilkinson from New York, Senator MacLander from New Hampshire, Candidate Carnley from California, and Candidate Cornell from Ohio. They, in turn, are divided into the Social Right and Capitalist Right. Crawford, MacLander, and Carnley, members of the Social Right, are more friendly to social democracy and parliamentary government, while still being supportive of free market capitalism and mostly hostile towards socialism. On the flip side, Capitalist Rightists like Cornell and Wilkinson are more in support of presidential government with free market capitalism and little socialistic influences.

On the far left, we have Candidate Perez from Illinois, Representative Varner from New Jersey, and Candidate Corgy from Indiana. Perez belongs to Reform Socialists, while Varner and Corgy belong to Revolutionary Communists. This is because Perez is more often to support reform measures to achieve a classless society, such as social democratic economies. Varner and Corgy call for immediate abolition of capitalism in all forms as well as a full redistribution of wealth.

2022 is obviously shaping up to be a showdown between the world's three main socioeconomic ideologies, but there is still the War against the CRA, especially with the genocide that the US military is engaged in to halt. Several candidates and prominent officials have announced their positions on the war, including halting genocide and bringing in and integrating refugees.

()

As you can tell from the above sheet, the left is mostly united in support of the invasion of both CRAs, save for Mary Cromwell who is reported to privately be against invading the Wiltonite-controlled CRA of the Plains and Rockies. Furthermore, Nat'l Sec. Head Melinda Wallace and Sen. Arthur Neville both support summarily executing CRA officials, with the former stating that it is an appropriate action to take for the most vile, violent, and immediately guilty of them, including those committing genocide. Others on the left don't agree with them. However, they all want to prosecute CRA leadership, a la the Nuremburg Trials.

The Right is more split on invading the Wiltonite CRA, as well as refugee integration, with the further right among them striking a very isolationist stance. Cornell, interestingly enough, supports using nuclear weaponry in the South, which has led to him being slammed as a radical and dangerous candidate.

The Collectivists are very similar to the Left, except for invading the Wiltonite CRA and for their enthusiasm over summary executions of CRA officials.

()

Above, you can see a sheet measuring support for three selected social issues. The issues include anti-workplace and hiring discrimination laws, Cameron's proposed New Bill of Rights, and Senator Neville's proposed Department of Civil and Human Rights.

This is an area where not only the Left and Collectivists are fully united, but they themselves are united amongst the blocs. Moderates and Radicals in both support similar social legislation. This is opposed to the Right, which is more divided along the lines of moderate and far-rightism. Carnley is the most left-leaning socially of the stock, while Wilkinson and Cornell are the furthest right.

Other studies will be released as the elections draw near, but for now, this is an informative "first dip" for all those newly introduced to democracy and an internet connection.

Appalachia, Cascadia, Commune Cities, Deseret trade de-facto independence for greater autonomy

Several client states once loyal to the United States but legally independent have now formally entered the union as Autonomous Commonwealths, a status which affords them more privileges and autonomous than regular states. The system is modeled off of Spanish Communities and their system.

The independent-to-autonomous states include Appalachia, Cascadia, the Communes of Free Cities, and Deseret.

Montgomery, Dixie - Night of November 26, 2020

Lora's grandmother died in her sleep, but it was an end to her suffering after the leg wound became horribly infected. She died happy, knowing the surviving officers that fled the barracks were executed for attempting to flee the camp. She called the guards a 'dereliction of the soul', which her granddaughter did not understand. Lora cried all night she died, but she was comforted by the prisoners and her own sisters. Her mother returned two days later, but her father was still missing. Lora was embraced by her mother the night she snuck back into the barracks, and both bonded over their losses.

Only a skeleton crew of guards were remaining, but they were conducting executions every afternoon, so the prisoners helped hide Lora's mother. Guards came by several times and beat prisoners until they surrendered her. Heroically, none ever did. On Thanksgiving, jets flew overhead and bombed the guards' barracks, at least one of them from what Lora could her and what her mother told her. The bombings became more and more frequent, and the prisoners were worried their barracks would be bombed. Several of them plotted to kill the remaining dozen guards and flee the camp, but they were overruled. They spent that evening eating stolen food, the first fresh meats, cheeses, potatoes, and carrots they all ate since they could remember.

That night, Lora's mother promised they would make it out alive, and live on a peaceful farm in Virginia, with dogs, cats, chickens, horses, and ducks, and they'd be living with the whole family. They'd leave the camp behind, and would be treated well and would pray over a bountiful dinner every night. Lora believed it, and started crying. Her mother and sisters embraced her and they went back to eating their dinners.

Polls for the First Congressional District in the State of Indiana, February 12, 2021

Michael Sheridan (inc.)(Workers' Emancipation Party) - 24%

Sarina Boston (Social Democratic Party) - 22%

Byzantino Laurens (Moderate Laborist Party) - 17%

Viktorija Corgy (Communist Party) - 13%

Hyatt Corvin (Socialists' and Ecologists' Party) - 4%

Anne Sawyer (Centrist Party) - 2%

Don't Know/Undecided - 18%

* * *

()

Viktorija Corgy looked at the poll numbers, and couldn't decide if she was elated or depressed. Fourth place, which is great for a revolutionary socialist politician in Indiana. But fourth place out of six polled candidates, which is a little pathetic. Even the undecideds beat her out. She frowned and exited the browser.

She walked out of her bedroom and into the living room, limping as she put weight on her leg. Even almost three years later was the limping still an issue. The bruising on her leg finally dissipated after months. She could still remember it all happening, the baton swinging, people screaming, the policeman's fearful look as he beat her. Thankfully, she didn't remember the sensation of pain.

In the living room, Viktorija called her campaign manager and planned the next few weeks' of events. She was going to lay low until about November or so. Appearing too much would cause people to be fatigued, and up the chances of her making an embarrassing gaffe. Instead, she'd do a few townhalls every two months, sprinkled by impromptu visits to coffee shops and refugee centers, then some media appearances closer to Christmas. Her campaign manager set the dates.

Viktorija exhaled and turned the TV on. Some Social Democrat was speaking on the news. She scoffed, laughing at him speaking about a strong welfare system and strong economic regulations to better safeguard the people. Capitalists in sheep's clothing.

Xavier Perez was pleased at the recent polls. Very pleased. Three weeks ago he was down ten points to Fares, now he's within two points. The country is tilting left, at least the Ninth District was.

"That's great, right?" Jordan said, scrolling through the crosstabs.

"It absolutely is!" Perez replied. He clasped his hands together. It was still over a year away, but in a few months the campaigning would grow in intensity and importance. This is a great place to start, though, and Perez was soaking it in.

He smiled at his campaign manager and went back into his house.

Polls for the Senate Election in the State of California, February 28, 2021

Matilda Schumer (inc.)(Social Democratic Party) - 53%

Elizabeth Carnley (Moderate Laborist Party) - 45%

Undecided/Don't Know - 2%

* * *

()

Only 45%? Elizabeth Carnley thought. She was disappointed. She set the mental goal to at least reach 48% by March, and it didn't look like it was happening. Schumer is proving to be mighty popular in California, with her rallies in L.A. and San Fran bringing out thousands. Carnley could only turn out a measly few hundred in places like Bakersfield and Anaheim.

Maybe California is just too left-wing for Carnley? It was a conservative state for much of the pre-Second Civil War period, but languishing under an evil theocracy has created an underground leftism that is finally exploding with freedom. Maybe I should have just pitched my tent with the Social Dems. Carnley pondered, thinking she'd make a good moderate socialist rather than a center-rightist in a time when rightists are anathema in America.

Oh well. Let's see if Ab Fab is playing a rerun tonight. She sat down on the couch and turned the TV on.

"And we're getting reports that - reports that - okay," The anchor was saying. "My god. We can report that Michael Hawthorne has been captured outside of Albany, Georgia."

"Oh, my god!" Carnley exclaimed, standing up and gasping. Her husband came in alarmed. "They captured Hawthorne!" She said.

"What?" Her husband was incredulous. "Really?"

"Yes! That's what the news is saying!"

HAWTHORNE CAPTURED

()

February 28, 2021

President of the CRA, Michael Hawthorne has been captured in Georgia by a special ops team apart of the United States military. The announcement has sparked a wave of celebrations across the United States and much of the world. People are reported to be cheering and crying in the streets, from New York, to Washington, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Chicago. There have been celebrations in London, Sao Paulo, and Berlin as well.

President Suza Cameron made a formal announcement on the evening of February 28, extolling the "bravery and resolve of our citizens who captured Hawthorne and made the march to peace that much stronger."

Celebrators on the streets of New York have been chanting "Liberation", "Revolution", and "Death to Fascism" throughout the night.

()

(Above: The Situation Room in the White House shortly after Hawthorne was confirmed alive and captured)

The government has confirmed that Hawthorne will be tried for a number of offenses, including war crimes, genocide, ethnic cleansing, and state terrorism. All of these carry the death sentence, which Hawthorne will likely be convicted of.

Melinda Wallace has shied away from calling for his summary execution, a stark reversal of her earlier position of executing members of the CRA who are guilty of genocide.

"A full and fair trial is to be awarded to even the most despicable and guilty of people, and summary executions, while they send a message, muddy the waters and make it seem like we are no different than them." Wallace said earlier tonight when pressed on the issue.

The trial for Hawthorne is expected to be held this April.

White House - Afternoon of March 15, 2021

()

President Cameron gathered her top people in the Oval Office. It was a group the media have since called Cameronland, which also extended to advisors, staffers, and other associates. However, only the closest knit of them were there: President Cameron, Vice President Marquez, National Security Director Melinda Wallace, and Defense Secretary Mary Cromwell.

They all sat on the plushy couches. A pile of paperwork and documents lay sprawled out on the coffee table. "Plans for a presidential system", "Plans for a parliamentary system" read some of the documents. Cameron had circled the parliamentary document with a red sharpie.

"I personally think we should model our government in a parliamentary way, with a prime minister being the head of government and a ceremonial President. I'm planning on campaigning on a parliamentary system too." She said. "Does anybody have any objections?"

"Well, no, but - " Wallace started. "I just fear the implementation will be very messy, since this is such a foreign system for many Americans. Plus, I feel we should still be focusing on the war."

"Right, but we can focus on both the war and fixing the broken political system." Wallace started. "Besides, I plan on the system being implemented throughout 2022 and 2023 in time for congressional elections in 2024. I also want to alternate elections, with congressional elections falling on even years and presidential elections on fixed odd years starting on 2025 and being held every five years."

"So you want a presidential election in 2022, then again in 2025, then every five years from then?" Marquez asked.

"Yes. I hope that makes sense." Cameron said.

"It does, but I'll suggest a simpler one." Cromwell interjected. "How about fixed presidential elections every six years, starting in 2022, and then parliamentary or congressional elections every four years at minimum, with rules for sooner elections in case of no-confidence?"

"Hmm." Cameron ruminated. "I'll think about that. It might just be better."

"I agree with Cromwell. It's a bit less complex, and it provides for elections frequently but not always overlapping. I feel like elections that always overlap could - enable ferocity and division." Marquez said.

"Agreed. But I feel we should look forward to elections, not dread them." Wallace said.

"Well, that's all apart of our Revolution, right?" Wallace asked. "Not just changing systems, but changing the way people think, act, and perceive their state."

"It'll be hard, but I think we can all agree that the current and pre-Revolution system is just garbage!" Cromwell said.

"Exactly." Wallace said, then paused. "Now onto my next - uh - point. I don't know who will succeed me as President, nor do I know who will be my Prime Ministers. I kinda want you all in this room to run for something in the next few years."

()

"For what?" Melinda Wallace asked, having never ran and never planning to.

"Well, I'd like you or Cromwell to succeed me as President when I leave office. And I want Marquez to be Prime Minister, as I feel he's a good party leader."

"Oh, jeez. I don't know." Wallace said, thinking it over. President? In a ceremonial office with no powers? She thought. If she was to hold office, she'd want power. She'd want to be Prime Minister.

"Prime Minister Marquez?" Marquez asked aloud. "I don't know. I might want to run for president some day."

"Look, you all can run for whatever or not run, I'm just saying you all have strengths and can contribute to the government in all these unique ways, so I want to stock as many offices as I can with you." Wallace said. "You can run for President with Cromwell as your veep or whatever we'd call that office, if we still have one, while Wallace leads the party in congress."

()

"Thank you, I also want us to be in government, but I just don't feel like a campaigner." Marquez said.

"It's a revolution, who gives a sh*t?" Cameron said, laughing. "Maybe you all go into congress and some socialist succeeds me as President!"

()

Prime Minister Cromwell. I like that. Cromwell pondered. Though she wasn't very partisan, despite being as leftist as any of them there, she wasn't ready to commit to any party. But, Cameron planted the idea in her head.

HAWTHORNE CONVICTED, SENTENCED TO DEATH

April 19, 2021. New York.

Former leader of the CRA, Michael Hawthorne, was convicted of a slew of crimes against humanity and has been sentenced to death by a military tribunal in Princeton, New Jersey

His execution is set for June 12, 2021. He will be publicly hanged in a yet-to-be-determined location.

()

Above: People cry at a memorial for genocide victims in Washington. The genocide in the Southern CRA continues despite persistent bombing efforts.

It is unclear how long the Southern CRA will hold out for, but it is predicted that the top remaining leadership will capitulate and surrender to the United States by June.

Montgomery, Zone A - Afternoon of March 23, 2021

Lora almost forgot a teddy bear of hers when all the liberated prisoners were being herded out of the barracks. It was a plushy animal she found outside the barracks after her grandmother died, along the trail that prisoners were forced to walk death marches on. It was ragged, but Lora still found it cute.

The camp was liberated about two weeks ago, but soldiers were finally evacuating the prisoners after securing Montgomery. They let everyone out, including gay people and lesbians. Lora's mother told her that Americans in World War Two wouldn't liberate gays due to the German laws against them. Lora responded by saying that it was weird, since she didn't quite comprehend the cruelty of it. Her father was still missing, and the night before, Lora's mother told her, struggling through tears, that he might be in heaven along with Grandma. Lora was saddened, but she had her mother and all her sisters, and a few supportive prisoners.

They left the camp and relocated to a massive sports arena in Montgomery, built by the theocrats for religious performances and football games. Now, it was housing thousands of refugees and genocide survivors. Lora didn't feel like a survivor, she just felt like herself, just more hungrier and sadder than ever. Doctors told her she was emaciated and needed to be under care, which her mother agreed with. Another doctor told her she might have health troubles all her life due to the starvation she endured. Lora got anxious from hearing that, but she was still glad to be brought from the brink of annihilation.

Native Americans beat back Interior CRA in Oklahoma, begin siege of Tulsa.

()

A predominantly Native American organ of the U.S. armed forces has redirected their focus towards the Snake River Front in Oklahoma and has pushed back the Interior CRA up to Tulsa, and are planning a siege of the city.

Under the CRA, Native Americans were sequestered in increasingly desolate reservations and expunged from society. Laws were passed outlawing indigenous/non-indigenous marriages, and Native Americans were gradually barred from holding property, voting, holding credit cards, and free travel.

Now, after the Revolution, Native Americans flocked to the United States military and civil services, and have provided an integral role across the new society. In the military, they have been instrumental in securing the Snake River along the Texan-Oklahoman border. A successful siege of Tulsa would open up the rest of Oklahoma for Conquest and better enable the United States to take Arkansas and push into Kansas.

Yess, down with Hawthorne! Also, good job Native Americans.
As for the parties... Wow, not even a single pro-globalization, capitalist to Social Democrat party which is also pro-LGBTQ rights? :( I guess I'd support a ragtag of Social Democrats, Worker's Emanicipation and Moderate Laborist politicians. I'd probably be most comfortable supporting socially liberal Moderate Laborists.

Hawthorne Executed in New York

June 12, 2021 -

Former President of the Christian Republic, Michael Hawthorne, has been publicly executed in Chelsea Park, Manhattan today, in front a crowd of about 200. Hawthorne was convicted of genocide, state terrorism, and a host of other crimes against humanity in April of this year. In a capture that was widely celebrated across America, Hawthorne's execution comes as a symbolic watershed moment in the war against the CRA.

Hawthrone was 52 years old and is survived by his wife, Mary McClelland Hawthorne, and his two children, Johnny and Greta Hawthorne. They have attempted to flee to Russia, but were arrested by British authorities at Gatwick Airport in London. They are currently waiting for extradition to the United States. Mary Hawthorne has been called the "Ava Braun of Dixie".

SOUTHERN CRA CAPITULATES

()

September 23, 2021 -

In a stunning move, the senior military leadership of the Southern CRA has capitulated to the United States, surrendering every held territory to the U.S. as well as surrendering to imprisonment. There has reportedly been a coup this past month among the leadership, which has resulted in the rumored execution of anti-capitulation hardliner General Matthew Elias Stockmeier.

The announcement, first confirmed by President Cameron and Secretary Cromwell, has triggered a massive wave of public celebrations across the United States comparable to New Years' celebrations. Revelers are reported to be crying and screaming exclamations of joy on the streets. Remarks include "Victory!", "U.S.A!" and "No Fascism!".

The President and Vice President have announced a victory tour around the United States to celebrate the end of the war against the CRA and strategize for the war against the interior CRA.

Presidential Debate Commission Sets Dates for Three Debates

The Presidential Debate Commission, established by a triumvirate of universities, has set the dates for three presidential debates. The dates are as followed:

First Debate: April 3, 2022

Second Date: April 24, 2022

Third Debate: May 8, 2022

Furthermore, the Commission has dedicated a range of topics to each topic:

First Debate: Revolution, Theocracy, The Future of America

Second Debate: Parliamentary System vs. Presidential System, Capitalism vs. Socialism

Third Debate: Refugees, Global Image, and Foreign Policy

That is all the information the Commission has released thus far. It is rumored that candidates must achieve an average polling range of 3-5% two weeks prior to the debate to be considered a valid applicant for participating in the debate. With this, it is likely that the debate members will be President Suza Cameron of New York, Senator Kyra Welsh of Kentucky, Senator Garrett Dillon of California, Mr. Jaremy Omid of New York, and Ms. Mirei Song of Washington.

A Profile in Labor: Mirei Song

December 11, 2021 -

With the election five months away, much of America is tuning into political news and literature. After overthrowing our theocratic suzerains, we are finally looking forward to the first truly democratic election since 1944.

President Suza Cameron dominates the polls and is looking forward to an easy election, but that doesn't mean she is the only candidate running. Unlike James Monroe, Cameron has lots of opponents who are not afraid to critique her policies or suggest different paths for our reborn country.

One of these opponents comes from Cameron's less socialist flank, but she is not a right-winger. She is Mirei Song, a labor organizer from Seattle who worked underground for many years during the revolution to support famished workers and their families. She has agreed to sit down with us for an interview, explaining her reasons for running, and why she thinks she's better suited to be President than anyone else.

Jon Setter, British journalist (JS) - Thank you so much for sitting down with us -

Mirei Song, candidate for President (MS) - Than you for having me.

JS- You're welcome, I look forward to this interview.

MS- Me too!

JS- To begin, can you just explain who you are, what you believe in, and why you are running for President in 2022?

MS- Well, Hi everyone watching. My name is Mirei Janet Song, and I was a labor union organizer and I helped out local unions in Washington state and California to recruit members, activists, and volunteers. Officially, I was the Chief of Staff to President Joan Goldberg of the Teachers' and Educators' Union of Washington, but I resigned this year to run for President.

JS- Very interesting. Did you ever have plans to be President of the TEUW?

MS- I did at times, sure - but mostly I was satisfied with the position I had, and I made a lot out of it. I worked - uh - essentially underground from the 1980s to 2018, because the government made all labor activities illegal in the sixties. I helped a lot of starving people, mostly workers, find well-paying jobs so they could put food on the table and not have to see their children die of starvation. It was absolutely illegal, but it was absolutely the most moral and right thing I have ever done and I absolutely would not do anything differently. The union in those years saved people, and I am glad I was apart of it.

JS - That's really, really heartfelt.

MS - Thank you. It was Hell to live. It truly was, no embellishment.

JS - When were you born?

MS - I was born on July 23, 1963, in Burien, Washington. Then it was known as New Jordan, after the government renamed it.

JS - What was it like growing up in America, and how were you treated?

MS - Well, I can't remember the first years, but I do remember when I was six, in about 1969, when my parents were realizing they might be stripped of their banking jobs by the government. See, even though the theocracy had been ruling, their worst laws and most discriminatory measures came about only around the early 1970s. And it was in 1969, or maybe 1970, that the banks were essentially forced to fire all people of color, non-christians, any minorities. It was horrid.

JS - And your parents were bankers?

MS - Well, not quite. They held the door open for people and sometimes helped the bankers. It was enough to get by in our apartment. I don't ever believed they liked the job, but it did help us eat. After they were fired, life really got miserable.

JS - How so?

MS - We lost our apartment once they got fired. The landlord threatened to hurt us if we hadn't vacated. So we did, I recall, and we moved around at least ten times in as many years. Anywhere that would accept us. It was tough for Asians then, a lot of times we were given dirty hovels to live in. My mother would get incredibly sick due to our living conditions, and - my god - it's so amazing how much we persevered.

JS - Are your parents still alive?

MS - Yes, both of them!

JS - Wow, that's great.

MS - My mother, Hanako, is 91, and my father, Chiharu, is 90. Of course, they had to have Anglo names back then. She was Hannah and he was Harry, easy to relate to their Japanese birth names.

JS - Did you have an Anglo name?

MS - Mira! I've ditched it though. I never liked it.

JS - When did you get involved with laborism, and why?

MS - Because of what I saw, growing up. Seeing people on the brink of annihilation, starving, sad, it was just horrific. Back then, labor had retreated underground, and it wasn't the same thing you see in Britain, France, or Brazil. It was more about providing strong support networks for workers and laborers, especially centered around part-time jobs and providing them work opportunities. It was around 1982 when I got involved. I skipped college at that time, since my only options were segregated schools that were routinely ignored by the government and given piecemeal funding. So I went into the underground labor movement in 1982, 1983, and I started as a typist. I helped process applications for people, and I would send these documents to my superiors, who would then send them secretly to friendly employers who would then give jobs to the applicants in fields the government wouldn't notice.

JS - Wow. Sounds glamorous in a way.

MS - It was, sure. We also did food drives and all sorts of charitable things. At the beginning, labor was mostly confined to giving the starving some sort of menial job support, however as time went on, we moved towards a system of crude bargaining, co-operating with employers on wages, focusing on long-term job security. As the government got weaker towards the Revolution, we became more brazen and hosting job fairs, parties, you know, fun stuff.

JS - Do you think you had an effect on people's lives?

MS - I sure hope so. I know many people I helped back then still have jobs. Their children, if they had any, are healthy and well-fed. So many friends were made, too. If I had no other impact, I'm glad I provided friendship for so many people.

JS - What are some of your political beliefs? Platforms?

MS - Well, thanks for asking, John. I'm definitely on the left end of the spectrum, but I don't like specific labels or buzzwords. I don't care for socialist, or capitalist, or social dems, I'm not gonna bother with that. I love laborism. I love leftism. I love the concept of a community, state, or government providing for the people, not out of begrudging necessity, but out of love and moral obligation. That's who I am.

JS - What do you feel about capitalism versus socialism?

MS - Whatever system has the least people in abject poverty, suffering, unemployment, and hunger, I'm for that economic system. With that said, capitalism has really ravaged parts of the country and the globe, in terms of neo-imperialism and globalization. But, look at Stalin or Mao. I mean, look at how many people died in famines and were purged - ugh - really just not pleasant. If anything, I'm someone who believes in the best of both worlds. Let's keep the right of property and a choice in what toothpaste or socks to buy, but let's not give our economy to corporations and the selected elite of society.

JS - Would you see that as a social democratic ideology?

MS - Sure! I never said I wasn't any of those things, but when it comes to this tribalistic nature of suckering onto labels and political identities, it just seems a little foolish to me.

JS - Do you think you'd make a good president?

MS - Yes. Absolutely.

JS - Why?

MS - Because, and this sounds morbid, I know what suffering is like. I know what it's like to see an evil theocracy throw its citizens to the wolves, and I know what it's like to be treated like chattel trash. I know the extent of selfish greed and how it ruined our country to the very core. With that, I know what goodness, humanity, and selflessness looks like. Those latter qualities have absolutely informed every ounce of my policies.

JS - What about parliamentary versus presidential systems?

MS - No more electoral college, first of all. It failed us in the forties and gave us festering white supremacy. I would definitely like to study parliamentarianism more, but I do like the concept of a more fair and equitable voting system. I don't like first past the post, I think we need to spend time implementing multi-member districts with proportional seat allocation.

JS - Interesting. Don't you think that's mightily similar to President Cameron's platform?

MS - If it is, it is. I'm not running to be the anti-Cameron, I'm running to be the pro-Song. I'm running on pro-labor and pro-equality. Cameron is great, and I'm not trying to center myself as the centrist or more lefty version of Cameron, but what she lacks is a career in unionism and helping out workers. She has the ideas, but let's ask ourselves, does she have the knowledge of labor? I think that's what we need here at this time, and that's why I'm running.

JS - Do you think Cameron is a bad president?

MS - Absolutely not. What I said is in no way to be interpreted as me slamming her or saying she is ignorant. Let's remember that she fled the country, and she dedicated her life to public service and overthrowing the theocracy. If she tried that here, she would have been beheaded, and she knows that. She is a total hero for what she did and continues to do.

JS - Well, I think that's all the time we have.

MS - Oh no!

JS - I do hope to catch up again later on, because you are a great conversationist.

MS - Thank you! I am glad I gave this interview.

Song is great, though I'm still endorsing Cameron! It's good to see some voices that understand the danger in radical leftism- I'm worried that there seem to be way too many in this TL's America who are ready to embrace radical socialism or outright communism. That'd be disastrous for this reborn country.

March 12, 2022 -

The United States military, with aid from the squadrons from federally-recognized tribes, has successfully liberated Tulsa and Oklahoma City, in effect driving out the remaining CRA forces from Oklahoma.

This comes as a stunning victory for the United States, as it allows for the future liberation of Kansas, and protects U.S. territory in Texas.

Highlights of the First Debate

On the Revolution...

Cameron: The revolution must be protected, and we must strive for a better society. But, if we're looking at the Bolsheviks or Jacobins, we must know our limits. In striving for justice after all these miserable years, we have to be fair. We can't throw people in jail on a whim, nor can we change society too much so quickly after overthrowing the theocracy. What I mean by that is that we can't, say, identify a low-level employee who said positive things about Hawthorne and then put him or her in jail. Much less execute them or seize their assets. It's just wrong.

()

Dillon: Well, I have to disagree with the President. There are two types of revolutions: One which simply changes the government or state, but leaves intact the social order and how we perceive ourselves fitting in that state or social order. The other type changes everything. It changes the state, the economy, the class system, and the very nature of our civil behaviour. I think the first type is simply inefficient and foolish for our country. We need to go hard or go home.

On Theocracy and the Dictatorship

Song: The theocracy, if it can even be called that, was truly devastating to this country. Millions dead, millions starved, and millions smashed under a cruel, polished black boot. We went from a country on the steps of global leadership to nothing more than a rump state. I wake up everyday thanking the powers that be that the brutality is finally over.

Welsh: While it's important to remember the cruelty of the dictatorship, it's important to remember why and how it sprung up. Economic instability brought about by unbridled capitalism. White supremacy peddled by Southern Democrats, lynch mobs, and ancestral slavers. And let's not forget that the U.S. government was fully complacent and practically allowed this dictatorship to be born.

Omid: Theocracy and religious governance has no place in this society. I am not ashamed to call myself an atheist, and I will never even dream of governing as a theocrat. We are a secular state, and we must commit ourselves to that nature. The pre-civil war leaders did not, and they were weak against the face of religious zealots and dogmatic people. It's time to recognize that the roots of the dictatorship were due to an incomplete separation of church and state in America. If we were such a secular state, why did we hate Jews, Catholics, and Muslims so much?

On the Future of America

Kingsley: We have to have an America where the common man is the prized, integral member of our society. We can't place our society in the hands of the elite, nor can we trust economists, social democrats, or communists, of all people, to direct the movie that is our lives. It's simply untenable to me that a communist, a self-declared communist -

()

Cameron: Now, hold on, Senator Dillon is -

Kingsley: A self-declared communist is telling us - is telling us how we should live our lives and structure our economy -

Dillon: I find it untenable that a wolf in sheep's clothing is telling us what a committed fighter she is for the working class -

Kinglsey: Oh please.

Dillon: What's your net worth again? What bank did you work at during the dictatorship? Wachovia?

Kingsley: If you're trying to imply that I'm a collaborator, then you best silence your mouth.

Dillon: Well, I'm going to ignore the gentlewoman from Louisiana and address the audience, since she has seemingly forfeit her speaking slot. The future of our country must be a future of socioeconomic equality and classlessness. We can no longer live in the shackles that landowners put us in, and we can no longer put bandages on the gushing wounds that capitalism has left us. As great as President Cameron, Senator Walsh, and Ms. Song are, there are wrong to suggest that the moneyed elite can be reasoned with, that capitalism is something we can tolerate. It can't be. We must abolish it and abolish it now. If the elite want to arm themselves and fight, so be it.

()

Omid: Let's not provoke something here -

Cameron: Waving off a violent struggle as a "so be it" type thing, is ridiculous and I thought Senator Dillon would know better. However, I want to take the time to tell everyone in the audience and on stage that telling a fellow debater to close his mouth is unacceptable.

Kingsley: You just heard him! He's a devout Red, what he's suggesting will plunge our nation back into a bloody mess and ruin our economy. It's foolish that he's even brought onto this stage.

Song: It is not foolish -

Kingsley: It is.

Song: We have to give everyone a right to voice their opinions and concerns about where we are headed. It doesn't matter if they're hard left, or totally centrist. Throwing them under the bus and telling them to shut up is gross and immature.

Lafayette, Louisiana - Afternoon of April 18, 2022

()

Helena Kingsley looked out the window of her office building and saw the gaggle of reporters in the rain-drenched streets. She scoffed and drew the curtains. Kingsley walked into an adjacent room where a camera was set up in front of a plushy chair. A few of her aides were standing behind the camera, while one piloted it. She sat down on the chair as the camera started filming.

"Hello everyone. These past few months have been incredibly fun, rewarding, and impactful. I never thought I would one day run for President, but I soon found myself embraced by a legion of passionate supporters and aides. When I announced my run, a run for President centered on moderation and protecting the common people of our country, I thought no one would come to my side, but boy was I wrong.

I was proven incorrect, since the outpouring of love and support I received from citizens of all walks of life told me that my cause was not lost. The people of this country want to uncover the middle-ground, the people want capitalism, the people want moderation. They don't want all this socialist and communist lingo emanating from their TV sets, but they do want change. A change in their paychecks for the better. A change in their housing markets for the more affordable. A change in their doctor's appointments for the cheaper and more easily accessible. A change in the markets for more competition and better returns. I will forever be advocating for that type of change.

However, this year is simply not the year. I will be suspending my presidential campaign and exiting the race. I have not made up my mind on who to endorse, but I will be sure it's someone who preaches the same values I do, and who believes in the same good fight I believe in. To my supporters: I won't let you down. I will always give you a voice, at a time when it seems the only voices are spoken by social democrats and hard leftists. I will never give up on you.

Go forward with the good fight, citizens and supporters, and know that I am at your side."

Highlights of the Second and Third Debates

Suza Cameron lays out her plan to transition the US voting system into a multi-member, proportional, parliamentary system, ditching the current presidential, first-past-the-post system. Mirei Song endorses her plan, while Jaremy Omid rejects it. Kyra Welsh and Garrett Dillon also support it, but Dillon says that the ultimate goal is to abolish the state and make way for a classless, equal society.

On refugees, all candidates agree that refugees, especially from the CRA, are welcomed into the United States. However, Omid believes there should be a strict vetting system, while Cameron and Welsh believe there should be a more liberal system that places emphasis on families and family reunification. Dillon endorses refugee resettlement and integration as well as the gradual dissolution of borders.

On Capitalism vs. Socialism, Cameron lays out her plan for a social democratic economy where social justice and economic justice are linked and formerly discriminated groups are integrated into an economy that's regulated, fair, and not subject to predatory capitalistic private entities. Welsh calls for the gradual abolition to capitalism while Dillon calls for a revolution to abolish capitalism. Song endorses social democracy and states that a regulated socialized economy with a capitalist framework is the best economy for America. Omid believes that capitalism with only the most important regulations to prevent monopolies is the most desirable.

This was great! I'd probably support Cameron in this election because of the Theocracy's defeat, but as for my support/lack thereof of the candidates:

1. Song
2. Omid
3. Kingsley
4. Cameron
*Huge gap*
5. Welsh
*Colossal gap, communists are almost as bad as theocrats)*
6. Dillon

I'm going to eventually finish up Fear and Fire and get started with Multiparty: A Mirrored America, then I'll start the Reborn Republic
