Title: State calls that put candidates over 270... Post by: twenty42 on February 12, 2018, 08:04:21 PM I'm looking at which states put winning presidential candidates over the 270 EV mark. Compiled this data from watching various Election Night playbacks. Since it is a pretty arbitrary stat, it's interesting how often it happens to be Ohio.
2016: PA 2012: OH 2008: CA 2004: OH 2000: FL 1996: NY 1992: OH 1976: MS If anybody can add to this list, I'd appreciate it. Title: Re: State calls that put candidates over 270... Post by: Anzeigenhauptmeister on February 12, 2018, 10:25:25 PM 1988: Michigan (https://youtu.be/LAAdN4o4QMw?t=4h30m15s)

For example, Illinois (which eventually went for Bush) very close during the vote-tallying. A Democratic pundit said that it would vote for Dukakis in the end because the Southern precincts hadn't been counted yet. A Republican pundit complained that Bush didn't campaign enough in New York State, otherwise he would have won the state. A host said if Dukakis couldn't win Arkansas, he couldn't win the election. Plus, the black host predicted Bush's breach of promise of not raising the taxes. Title: Re: State calls that put candidates over 270... Post by: Mr. Smith on February 13, 2018, 10:01:12 PM Actually I compiled a list of these:
2016: Pennsylvania 2012: Ohio 2008: California 2004: Ohio 2000: Florida 1996: New Mexico 1992: Ohio 1988: Nevada 1984: N/A 1980: South Carolina 1976: Hawaii 1972: Ohio 1968: Illinois 1960: Missouri Title: Re: State calls that put candidates over 270... Post by: Anzeigenhauptmeister on February 13, 2018, 10:04:01 PM 1984: all the states that were called at 9 pm: VT, ME, NY, MD, NC, WI, IL, MO, AR, LA, SD, NE, WY, CO, NM.
By the way, wasn't NBC's map of the United States a real gem? () I also met many good ol' friends again: Bill Clinton Al Gore Joe Biden John McCain Mitch McConnell John Kerry Dick Cheney Jack Kemp Title: Re: State calls that put candidates over 270...
