I think it speaks volumes that GOP candidates in IN and WV are releasing their internals for the primaries that show them in an optimal position, but are conveniently leaving out all GE polling against Manchin and Donnelly. Let's be real here, they commisioned a GE section in their internals as well, I mean, who would not? And they are all conveniently missing...

No, I was implying that that would be the Manchin campaign ad "against" Blankenship that would actually boost him in the Republican primary.

That is a good idea now that you mention it.

I think Manchin could break 60 against Blankenship.

Tbf, you're polling different electorates in a primary vs a GE poll.

I’ve mentioned this before but a Blankenship nomination could result in a Trump endorsement of Manchin. Blankenship would ruin the “Trump Digs Coal” brand and Manchin would be a vote that Trump would need in a Democratic Senate.

Trump wouldn't endorse Manchin IMO, but if he did Manchin would easily break 60%.

I doubt Trump would ever pay attention enough about the race to know that Blankenship would ruin his brand in the first place.

And he would never endorse a democrat. The idea, sometimes promoted by the media, that Trump doesn't care about partisanship is absolutely untrue.

Republicans have a lot of terrible candidates running for Congress.

There is Courtland Sykes in MO, Don Blankenship in WV, and Joe Arpaio in AZ.

Regardless of WV's current political climate, it is a closed primary state, making this especially surprising.  WV's GOP primary electorate is FAR from the same group that voted for Trump in 2016, and they have traditionally supported more establishment-minded candidates.

I actually think that Don Blankenship would be doing worse in an open primary. Many Jenkins and Morrisey supporters are the type of people who voted Democrat throughout most of the 20th century, and never changed their party registration.

The West Virginia GOP is a historically inept organization that has been swept into enormous power by factors almost 100% out of their control. It should come as no surprise that they are struggling to run a successful primary.

Manchin better find a way to boost Blankenship, or he's going to lose in November.

God, I hope Jenkins wins the primary.

But it seems that RINO Tom, Solid and Bagel23 were right: MO and WV appear to be trending away from the GOP, while ND is a tougher race for Democrats than I had expected.

considering that Blankenship is from Jenkins' Congressional district, you'd think a Blankenship surge would be hitting Jenkins harder than Morrisey.

Per usual, I have no idea what point you're babbling about.  A lot of states' GOP primary voters supported Trump while otherwise supporting more establishment-minded candidates ... surely you can wrap your head around that.

Called it. I told you guys that all Blankenship had to do to transition from reviled to popular among Racist WV Hicks was to talk about how much he hates Muslim Obama and Crooked Hillary and how much he loves Trump. LOL, WV is so predictable.

And anyone saying he can't win the general clearly hasn't learned the lessons of 2016, particularly considering this is a state where the pussygrabber got nearly 70% of the vote.

But to be fair, the primary was basically over when WV voted.  He only would have gotten, eh, mid 60s in a competitive election.

Dude, give it up okay. First of all, like you said, WV is semi-closed, so no democrats could vote(As in, people who are dems in name only.) So while it may have been more establishment in the past, it's now starting to consist of a lot of ex-democrats.
