Title: The Factions / Political Parties Post by: Lumine on June 26, 2018, 01:04:23 AM () FACTIONS: Political parties didn't quite develop until close to the dawn of the XIX Century, and the beginning of the game reflects that. Rather than parties, players are invited to create factions gathering like-minded men to defend a given political position, allowing them to organize and elect representatives to the National Assembly to influence policy. Players may indeed band together to form a larger faction, but each faction will be expected to have leader who will be considering their default candidate for First Secretary of the Assembly. You can attempt to form more local factions as opposed to a national one, as it would be perfectly reasonable for a player to lead a South-based faction, or one based on New England separatism, and so on. Leader: James Jackson Ideology: Limited government. Southern interests Core Beliefs: Monarchy: Anti-Monarchism, Pro-Republicanism Slavery: Pro-Slavery. Protect the slave trade and fight any attempts to curtail slavery to protect the economy of slave states. Constitution: Support. Will fight to guarantee the rights of states and against the expansion of federal power. Religion: Pro-secularism, though religion has a place in American society in keeping the people virtuous. Taxation/Debt: Oppose taxation. Sell off federal lands to settlers to pay off national debt, allow states to pay off their own debts individually. Foreign Policy: American interests and neutrality. Attempt to establish friendly trade relations with other nations while avoiding involvement in their conflicts. Other: States' Rights, Pro-Agrarianism. (Note: I'd like for the Patriots just to stand in southern/slave states if possible, as I want them to be a southern based faction.)
