As a result, these better organized political parties come with added mechanisms such as formal party platforms, your own mechanisms to choose a leader - as long as they're not too anachronistic -, more emphasis on symbols, colors and so on. Players can choose to continue with a faction and not a party if they intend to stand only in a couple of states (with an added local bonus), but it is recommended you make the jump for extra benefits such as better impact on the press. There is no central leader, but a council of 12 rule the party and decisions can be made by a simple majority, but changes to the party charter can only be made by a 2/3rds majority vote or 8 out of 12 of the voters.
