Title: FL-SEN: St. Pete Polls: Nelson and Scott 47-47
Post by: ajc0918 on September 04, 2018, 06:14:15 AM

Nelson (D) - 47%
Scott (R) - 47%

Quote
A survey by St. Pete Polls commissioned for Florida Politics finds both candidates at about 47 percent; in fact, it shows Nelson with just a tenth of a percentage point edge — well within the 2.3 percent margin of error.

Garbage pollster, garbage poll, and we dont even have a previous poll from them, so we cant see the trendline.

Not surprisingly. What is certainly incredible is that it is plausible that both Scott and Gillium both win. I would not bet on that happening but the circumstances may allow it.

Right now of the seats changing I have

MO and FL Dem to GOP (both toss up tilt R)

NV GOP to Dem (Lean Dem)

TN and AZ GOP to Dem (Tilt Dem)

Indiana, North Dakota and West Virginia all will be very close and Democrats could lose one of those.

Lol not really. They have a really good track record and they nailed the Gillum surge in the primary.

Looking at the polls, they only saw that he had made some gains, but they still had him losing the primary by a large margin. And they have a rather meh track record in 2016, 2014, and 2012. I really wish they had a previous poll to compare to.

I demand perfection and A ratings, da** it!

In all seriousness, looking at their record, they seem to be a solid B pollster, and these are obviously not good numbers for Scott. But, again, I really wish they did a previous poll, as I dont know whether Scott increased or decreased overall.

This won't be called early in the night, that's for sure, but I think Scott will win.

Gillum again running ahead of Nelson, but the fact Scott blew so much money and this race is still tied is laughably sad.

Nelson would probably have a pretty big lead against any other Republican right now. What Scott has essentially been doing is building a moat against the blue wave with his Medicare fraud money. He's had some success with it so far, but will the moat hold out until November? That's the key question.

"But this race is Tilt/Lean R!!!" -people who don't use tossups for some reason (hint: this race is a tossup.)

Algae Rick Scott's lead seems to be eroding now that Nelson is hitting the campaign trail. I'm interested to see where the polls go in the final few months of the campaign, especially when higher quality pollsters than this garbage survey the race.

Yes, Herp Derp gravis. Yes, Herp Derp St Pete's polls. Yes, well, PPP.

You put the three of them together and it appears that Nelson Has stabilized in this race and has momentum, at least in the short-term, going in his Direction. It feels like he just hunkered down a storm of Scott burying him in the media, and it's just now getting to work.

I'll repeat what I just posted on the governors races page. While the Venn Diagram would only cover 1-2% of the electorate, I'm still having a hell of a time conceiving a Gillum-Scott voter.

Probably a Latino.

But I personally doubt these voters(Gillum-Scott or DeSantis-Nelson) exist.

Maybe? Specifically a Puerto Rican who recently left the island, or has family who did. Their typical Democrat sympathies tend to favor Gillum, but Scott's hard outreach to the state's Maria diaspora community directly impacted them or someone close to engender their support.

That and other soft Democrats who are grateful for what they perceive as Scott's directly aiding their family. Not many such people, but probably enough to constitute the 1-2%. Otherwise we're left with the voting block of "Democrats/progressives whom Bill Nelson once personally took a swing at."
