Most interesting part of this poll by far:

Quote
8. Earlier you indicated that you were registered as (a Democrat / an Independent}. If
Congressman Seth Moulton challenged Senator Ed Markey in the 2020 Democratic
Primary for U.S. Senate, would you vote for Ed Markey or Seth Moulton? Or would
you not vote in the Democratic Primary?

{EMBARGOED FOR FUTURE RELEASE}

More likely to join the LP than the Democrats.

The idea that Baker would join the Ds is laughable. Just because hes a moderate doesnt make him closer to the Ds. I remember when people thought the same for Susan Collins...

A Democrat winning Democrats wouldn't be surprising. :)

Interesting trend from the last Suffolk poll. Jay gained 5%, while Baker gained 2%, overall a change from Baker+30 to Baker+27. Wouldnt surprise me, if the trend continues, for Baker to end with 60-65% of the vote in November, after the undecideds are sorted out.

If they're saving that for release, then their numbers might have Moulton winning the primary...

Ya, Baker isn't going to win by thirty points in November. He's also not going to come close to losing, however.

Apparently the result was 24-18 for Markey with the rest undecided. Pretty horrible result for an incumbent Senator, but I guess not really surprising considering it's Ed Markey. He's probably relatively anonymous and is about as exciting as watching paint dry.

Markey is pne of the best Senators in the country. Him losing to Moulton would be a tragedy.

For me they are the same - strongly liberal Democrats.. What's so good about Markey, and so bad about Moulton?

I agree. Moulton would be a much stronger candidate against Brady. ;)

Markey is further to the left. Being (gasp) on the left myself I prefer Markey.

Moulton is an impressive politician, but I think he'd be a step down from both current Senators from Massachusetts.

Thanks. But - i really don't see any serious differences between them.  Yeah, Markey is somewhat more liberal. But word "somewhat" is crucial here. I would understand, if Mouton would have Manchin-style voting record, but - he doesn't...

There are rather large differences between the two. Moulton is a bipartisan house member, supporting military candidates from both parties. He is very similar to Tim Ryan, believing that the path to winning back Democrats in the Rust Belt is to moderate on social issues. He is a member of the New Dem coalition, and has lambasted Single-Payer and public spending.

Ed Markey, on the other hand, is basically a bit less left than Warren. He was a paragon of MA politics, and championed my home district, now Clark's, for a long time. He has been a huge supporter of Left ideas and has not been a moderate on issues, to contrast with Moulton.

While you may like Moulton more from that description, us Massachusetts-ians would prefer Ed stays in his seat.
