Quote BERLIN — A German member of parliament for the far-right Alternative for Germany, Frank Magnitz, was hospitalized Monday afternoon after being seriously injured in what police believe was a "politically motivated act." Magnitz was assaulted in Bremen city centre by "several people," local police said in a statement Tuesday. According to Germany's Bild, Magnitz was beaten with a piece of timber and after falling to the ground was kicked in the head before losing consciousness. The perpetrators escaped. There is a rather graphic picture in Salvini's tweet in this article, so I'll just warn you lol. Police in Bremen say they strongly suspect the attack was politically motivated considering the function of the victim. This comes a few days after an explosion outside a local AfD office in Germany. Today police also arrested a 20-year old man who allegedly stole data of celebrities and public officials (politicians of all political parties except the AfD where targeted). Last year a pro-refugee politician (Andreas Hollstein, CDU) was stabbed. This obviously isn't Weimar Germany 2.0, but the rise in political violence and vandalism in Germany is rather worrying to say to the least. That said, hospitalizing him is probably going too far. Just kick him in the nads and go on with your day. They don't make Nazis like they used to.
