She didn't just apologize right away, kept using the whole "what is is". Also, it didn't really matter after July 2016 [the focus moved over to "muh Clinton Foundation"]...only when Comey-insert some affix besides gate or ghazi here- happened at October did things resurface on that matter. People didnt like Hillary and looked for arbitrary reasons for why they didnt like her. The email scandal just happened to be the one thing taking up the most newstime so the voters went with that as reasoning for why they disliked her.
