In the hotly-contested battle for Houston, TX Mayor between incumbent Mayor Sylvester Turner (D), former Kemah Mayor Bill King (R) & Tony Buzbee (D ?/R ?), do you see this going to a December Runoff ?

Bill King is an independent

So was Mary Norwood.

They're all technically independents due to the nonpartisan nature of Houston municipal elections.

But it's generally accepted that Sylvester Turner is a Democrat, having served as one in the State House of Representatives.

Tony Buzbee is a wealthy trial lawyer with close ties to the Republican Party (he was an ally of Rick Perry during his governorship) and conservative views.

Bill King has always positioned himself as a moderate Republican in previous races.

I think this is going to a December Runoff: could go either way.

You can also anticipate the TV Advertising to be relentless between Turner, King & Buzbee (who ran TV Advertising commercials in late 2018 introducing himself to voters).

I had severe doubts about him even during last elections (and would vote for King if could). Sadly - they turned to be justified.

Turner is scared of losing. Explains why he's so desperate.

We can only hope.

Obviously Turner doesn't want to see a rematch against King.

I don't live in the Houston city limits, but I think Turner is being unfairly blamed for something that ultimately lays at the feet of the firefighters' union and of the low-information voters who reflexively vote to give anything and everything to "our brave men in uniform" regardless of cost.

There was a time, in the era of kerosene lamps and candles and before fire retardant fabrics and building materials, when firefighters actually spent most of their time fighting the fires that were an extremely frequent occurrence.

Nowadays, firefighters spend most of their time sitting around the fire station waiting to see if something happens. It was completely unfair and dishonest for them to demand the same pay increases police were getting when the nature of the work and the job duties is so different.

I still think Turner loses regardless of what happens.

The negotiations between Turner & HFD Firefighters Union ended badly last week. Turner also said he had no intention  of doing anymore mediation negotiations over Prop B.

Sylvester led the first vote 47-27 over Buzzybee (King-13) and won the runoff 57-43 in a dull contest.  Trump didn't even do a rally for Buzzy.

And Democrats expanded their majority in city council from 9-7 to 11-5.
Bodes well for next year's elections.

I guess Buzbee never actually conceded.  He just got on a plane and flew away.
