Title: dna mining and "fruit of a poisonous tree"
Post by: freepcrusher on April 09, 2019, 03:20:29 PM
Fruit of a poisonous tree of course is a doctine coined in 1939 to describe damning evidence that was nonetheless obtained unethically. Does anyone think the method used to find the golden state killer will get a challenge. I mean its good that they found the guy - but at what point are we violating people's right to privacy?

The fear over this seems silly to me.  Say some "evil" corporate mastermind has your DNA....what do you think they're going to do with it that could somehow harm you?  I get the thought of it is creepy, but what harm can actually come to you?  There are many very good, concrete things that can come from large databaseses of human DNA.
