Title: SC-Gov 2010: Alternate History
Post by: voice_of_resistance on June 13, 2019, 02:02:15 PM
Would Sheheen have won if 2010 was not such a bad year? He got 47 percent of the vote in arguably the worst midterm for Dems especially in the South, arguably since 1994 and before that probably 1865 lol.

Yeah, under a President McCain midterm he definitely would have won. there was no path for him in 2010 even though he kept it much closer than it should have been.

McCain would have been a one termer and 2014 a Democratic midterm. He would have most likely lost reelection then unless there would have been a Mike Beebe 2010 situation.

What's the Mike Beebe situation? Also do you think if Obama was president he could have won at all, if 2010 was an even year or even D+1 as supposed to 2008 being D+10?

He won reelection in 2010 with 64% of the vote and swept every county in Arkansas. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_Arkansas_gubernatorial_election
