She'd be better off just not competing there ala McCain than she would be sinking in thousands of dollars and many campaign days and getting single digits and zero delegates.

If she seriously still thinks she can win (and isn't just jockeying for another position), she should not pull out of Iowa completely. Even if it makes a little difference, finishing in fifth place will be a campaign killer. How would she justify her case after finishing behind Buttigieg? But then again, it's possible that campaigning there doesn't make a difference for her and she finishes with a very low percentage and few delegates.

At this point, it doesn't look like she has a realistic path to the nomination. She's likely to do very poorly in all of the early contests, which is certainly not going to build any momentum for California, which she is basically placing all her hope on. The polling average has her in *fourth* in South Carolina, which was supposed to be her most favorable early state. She'll need something drastic to change for her to have even the slightest of chances at doing well in the primaries.
