This is about as undemocratic as it gets.

Yes, people may think this could cost Democrats seats in the Senate, but that's no excuse to limit the number of qualified candidates running. Furthermore, within the past century or so, the number of major-party presidential nominees who never held statewide elected office can be counted with one's fingers, which suggests that such offices are a plus when running for president.

Guys, guys, the question (as I understand it) pertains to the issue that sitting Democratic Senators who are currently running for POTUS are unlikely to be impartial towards Pres. Trump if and when he goes on trial in the Senate.

But my answer is no, I don't think there is any danger that the Senators aiming to run against Trump will be automatically biased in favor of removing him from office.
