I used to dislike this show (I actually think that there was a thread similar to this and I said how I didn't like it) but I'm hooked now. It started when I watched the season one finale (since my mom is a fan, I watched it with her). I then followed the second season and got caught up on everything that happened before when I watched the season one DVD collection (all 24 episodes).

So I was wondering how many other fans are out there. This thread can also be used for comments on episodes and just the show in general.

I've liked it since the first episode when I wachted it, it's a great show.

I'm not a fan of hyped up show, movies, events, etc. but it is worthy of being called a great show. It might beat out the West Wing as my favorite show soon.

Ahem.  Yeah, I watched the whole of season 1 from start to finish, and thought it was amazing.  But I missed the first three episodes of season 2, and now there's probably no chance to catch up, so I'm just going to have to wait til it comes out on DVD.

We start season two in a couple of weeks-I can't wait. Then I might actually be able to read this thread.

I love this show!  Fezzy is making me watch the first season now and I love it!  He refuses to let me see the second season without viewing the first... so... I'll see the second when it comes out on DVD.

No spoilers in here please, I'll be tempted to read them :P.

I watched the first season and first few episodes of season 2.  It is a rare example of good writing and interesting drama on TV.  I particularly like the backstories that they do.  I haven't watched it latley because I have been busy at work, have lacked attention span and it has had a plodding pace as late.  I have about 5-6 episodes on my DVR just sitting there though. 
I have a tough time investing an hour of my time on a show during the week and I am pretty discriminatig on what I will watch.   

The one show I have watched on a consistent basis is House.  I love that guy.  In real life I tend to be overly nice and friendly.  I envy the House character in away.  He does not give a damn what other peope think about him and says what he thinks.

I am definetley Locke (he's my TV hero!) but I got....

I never watched the show on TV, but a co-worker gave me Season 1 on DVD last fall, and I watched all 24 shows like you did. By network standards, its great. I'll wait till Season 2 comes out on DVD before I see it again though.

What was in the hatch?

Charlie got annoying after awhile, Claire was always screaming. Hurley seemed to be comic relief, I felt sorry for him.

I liked Sun, Kate, Sayid and John Locke (the name is so obviously symbolic)

Sun and Sayid are cool but Kate gets annoying, too, in my opinion. Locke is by far my favorite and the one I identify the most with. I always specify which John Locke I am talking about when I bring this up with my friends. I never thought that the show gave him the name purposely.

I don't think lost will ever end...we have been lost to all details of the show except that they are stranded on some weird island with weird things underground and weird people. 

LOST is probably my favorite TV show. I'll occasionally tune into Simpsons/Family Guy on Sundays, but LOST is basically the only new show I watch.

I think Locke's name and personality are too much alike to be a coincidence. I might be reading to much into it but its a show about isolation, and philosophy might play a role in their identities.

I forgot to add before that Walt's Dad (name?) is one of my least favorite characters. Sawyer's a jerk but he keeps things interesting.

Well by all accounts they did and supposedly Rousseau is a reference to Jean-Jacques (though not sure about that one).

There is an episode called Tabula Rasa which is an idea mainly cultivated by John Locke. The ideas that Locke (tv show) espouses are fundamentally similar to those of the real John Locke and the name of Locke's father in the show is that of John Locke's philosophical mentor; Lord Anthony Ashley-Cooper.

I've never even seen the show to be honest. Don't even know what it's about. :(

It's about these people whose plane crashed on a strange island.  There are weird creatures there, random attacks, and 'them'.  Also, an insane French woman and Claire's doom filled child.  Where I am in the first season, Jack and Kate are like the leader people, always taking charge.

Kate is a convict who killed her boyfriend and probably many other people.  Now she's nice and cool but not many people trust her, other than Jack.

Because after Michael killed the girls he shot himself and let Henry get away and is going to tell everyone that Henry shot the girls and ran away. Of course, that is kind of obvious and you probably figured it out already...

I own the first season, but never got around to watching the second when it aired on tv.  So I'm waiting for the season 2 dvds also.  :)

Well that was a great episode. Lots of good plot elements actually happened in this episode. I'm wondering, how many episodes are left?

Another good espisode but next week will be amazing. I'll hate that it's the season finale. I don't know how I'll survive without it. Then again, I do look forward to it because it's two hours and the previews for it look amazing.

I'd never seen Lost until Saturday, when a friend gave the first season on bootleg DVD...I've watched the first 13 episodes now and I'm hooked!  What a great show!

So why did they pick Jack, Kate, Sawyer? They certainly aren't good like the other that were kidnapped.  All three are pompous assholes.  WHAT IS GOING ON?

I didn't watch the show until last night (Thank you, digital cable) so I was really anxious to see it. I was talking with my mom about it before I watched it, asking if it was good. She summed it up in one word - intense - and it was an excellent way to describe it. I can't wait until next season!


They're sort of the three leaders. I guess they wouldn't want to chance it with Sayid.

I just bought Season 1 and I'm about 16 episodes into it.  I'll buy Season 2 later this week.  I have a lot of catching up to do, but it's a great show, so it's worth it.

They did a flashback for Jack and showed us where Jack, Sawyer and Kate were trapped.

Jericho's been looking pretty good every since I saw that they blew up atlanta and San Diego ;)

What is that even about anyway?  I heard it was good, but it's kind of too late to get into it now, probably--I'll have no idea what's going on.

It's only three episodes in (Channel ten ROCKS for showing it the same day as in the US, we are usually two or three weeks behind).

Ep. 1:
Basically, people in Jericho, Kansas, saw a big mushroom cloud out west, around about Denver. They soon discover it has been blown up just as the President was giving an important speech about America fighting on during this period of adversity or whatever. People have no idea what's going on; the power is out and there is no news. The main character had popped into town to get some money before heading back to San Diego where he dissapeared to six years ago. The Townspeople realise that the schoolbus was taking the kids on a field trip and they have to find the bus. They also discover a load of prisoners was being transported but now they've escaped. The main character is injured, sitting in his stereotypical black mustang. Two kids come up to him and ask for help, so he goes to the bus, saves a girl who is suffocating, and drives thenm back into town to the glory of his family. His dad is the mayor in the middle of an ugly re-election campaign. They later find out that Atlanta has been bombed too, whilst the mysterious token black guy hides a radio communique from the others saying San Diego, Chicago, Philadelphia and a tonne of other places have been destroyed.

I've always said that they should mention things from the outside world. I imagined that since most of the passengers were Americans that they'd at least bring up who they thought won the Presidential election but the way they did it was amazing along with Reeve's death and the Sox win!

I never really understood that. A Nigerrian, a Frog, a Pom, a couple of Koreans, a fake Canadian, a Scot and one Aussie. On a flight from sydney to los angeles, you'd expect about 70% US, 20% Aussie and 10% other. Certainly more then one (and two halves-walter and the baby) Australians.

Amazing episode and another great ending. Unfortunately, I think this means that Desmond is...dead.

I wasn't able to watch last week which means that I wasn't able to watch this week. Good thing is I got my mom to tape them so when I go home this weekend I'll watch both. :)

You could have watched this week since the episodes weren't connected at all but I guess it is good to keep track of where you are.

I really had no way of knowing if they would be connected or not so I stayed on the safe side.

Good episode.  I stopped liking Locke last year, but he redeemed himself somewhat.

I wish Claire had more stuff to do...she's hot.

Locke became misguided and LOST his faith in the button. But, in the long run it was a good move. Now if Desmond didn't have the key things would be pretty bad right now.

I still like Locke he's not perfect but being perfect never makes a great character.

I just saw the first 3 episodes from this season.  I had missed them all because of work, so I watched them all in a row yesterday.  So awesome.....

Maybe he can just see into the future now but he seemed dead. The only person we have seen talking to Desmond (as far as I remember) was Hurley and we all remember his history of seeing people that aren't there...

More bad news...

It looks like LOST could be gone in about two seasons. Apparently, they never planned for the show to go over 100 episodes (there have been 53 so far).

If this is true (which I hope it isn't), these closing episodes better be absolutely amazing.

So? I'd rather have a good story that's wrapped up in a couple of seasons and not dragged out over many years with a worsening story only to get money.

I couldn't agree more.  I'm already quickly losing interest in the whole thing.

I'd obviously rather have the story end in a good way in a few seasons as opposed to being dragged out and ending horribly. My point, however, is that I think the show is good enough to last awhile longer.

Well when you think about it if they really want to end it with a movie, which I've heard before, then timing the end would seem like the best thing to do.

I was thinking of TV shows that were made into movies earlier this evening. I wouldn't like LOST to go out that way (and haven't heard that discussed before) but it could quite possibly end up being my favorite movie ever if it happened. My real worry would be that they'd screw it up.

Mine is this. I LOVE LOST. ITS PURE GENIOUS. THE WRITERS NEEED TO WIN THE EMMYS AND GOLDEN GLOBES EVERYTIME FOR WRITERS. However, I will lose interest if this show continues for 3 more seasons. This season or the next needs to the last. However, speaking of tonights show. Great work, good new characters, and a good change of events and flashbacks.

Am I the only one who thought blonde chick's "sister" may have been her brother in the past?

I don't want the show to go on forever and get bad...but I do want it to last forever and stay amazing.  ;)  This season can't be the last and I'm glad that it won't be. I don't think the next one won't be the final either. I love this show and will miss it when it ends.

As for last night, it was amazing. Everything was great.

By the way, I knew that guy was going to get hit by the bus.  :P

Tonight's episode was easily one of the most interesting. And next week's episode is supposed to reveal a few answers to some mysteries. I can't wait!  :)

Also....does anyone remember a show from about 1999-2000 called Amazon?  It was pretty much the same exact show as Lost, except they crash landed in the middle of the Amazon instead of an isolated island.  I used to love it, but it didn't do too well and was canceled after its first season....and no dvd, which means I can't remember it all too well.  Anywoo...anyone know of it?

I liked last week's episode pretty well.  I'll also miss tomorrow night's due to a basketball game (in which MSU will defeat Vanderbilt), and hopefully it won't take nearly a week to catch up.

Well...it was a good episode last night, but I was sort of hoping that the previews weren't lying when they said it'd answer some major questions we all had.

It wasn't a thrilling episode but it was good.

I watch it every week and say, "What the hell????"

I keep thinking it makes no sense -- no one ever just asks the Others who they are and what they are up to -- when the Others say they work on the island but live somewhere else, why doesn't Jack ask where or what it's like (personally, I think they all live in Parma, Ohio)

As much as I hate this show -- I love it more. 

Same with Prison Break, Rome, Battlestar Galactica and Jericho.

Don't know if its been said in here before but Lost has been renewed for a 4th season. I'm guessing it will end there, it will probably be for the best if it does.

Good episode today. Only three more episodes left! And the last one is two hours long!

So are they all dead and in hell or what?  That seems too obvious to me and I think there are several big holes in the everyone here is already dead theory.  For example, why do dead people need/want to have babies?  How do you explain the way Juliet got there?  What about the people who died on the island?

The creators have said they are not dead or in purgatory. Locke's dad just thought that because he couldn't really believe that anything else could happen.

Because my DVR is so f--king stupid, I was unable to catch the last fifteen minutes last night. I now have to wait until next week. I am very pissed off. It was an amazing episode from 75% that I've seen already.

I just watched the last fifteen minutes online. The show is amazing. It looks like Locke is heading back to the Others since Ben said, "And unless you're carrying your father on your back, don't bother [following our trail]." I always knew that Locke was supposed to be the Christ-like figure in the show; carrying his burden - his father (his metaphorical cross) - is perfect sign of that. What drove me crazy about this episode is how Juliet and Jack know something about Naomi. We'll just have to wait to see what it is.

We're in season four now and we know that it won't be the last. Season five might be the last but I think they'll go to season six. I think the later the show ends, the better though I don't want to see the quality go down drastically.

That was a mid-season break. LOTS of shows do it, Lost's was just the longest of all of them.

I heard somewhere that Season 4 won't start till January 2008 and they'll just show it on 23 consecutive weeks.

While I wouldn't mind that the show would have horrible ratings when it ended in July. Shows always drop off during the summer.

All I know is that its going without commercial interruption.

Well, it looks like Lost will end after 5 seasons. ABC is expected to announce it soon. Seems the creators and ABC have come to a date to end the show.

Ok, so now that this has officially been announced there has been a little change.

Lost will air for 3 more seasons ending in May 2010. They are changing the format though so that Lost will now only have 16 episodes a season and run from February to May each season.

I was so happy to hear this this morning that I thought I misunderstood it! May of 2010! Awesome, people. Awesome! The bad thing is that it'll only be sixteen episodes each season from February to May but oh well.

Locke better not die!

So who figured out that the flashbacks weren't really flashbacks before Kate showed up?  I figured it out once I saw all the maps in future Jack's apartment.

I really knew something was odd when I saw the maps in Jack's apartment but I kept telling myself that he was just laying out the plans for his trip to Australia.

This is just too much. Too many things still have to happen. I don't know that I totally believe that they're off the island. Remember that there are still three seasons...

But remember this part...When Jack is in the hospital, the chief surgeon and Jack get into an argument about Jack's stability. Jack then says that the chief surgeon has to go get his father and see if Jack is as drunk as he is. I believe that there were several other references to Jack's father (being alive) throughout the episode yet we all know that Jack's father has been dead.

I love this show. I love that we have to keep guessing. I love that the past two hours that I spent watching this season finale were some of the most exciting two hours I've ever spent watching TV. No show tops this. None.

By the way, Charlie's death was one of the saddest things that I've ever witnessed on the show. We should have seen it coming though since everything seemed to be too good to be true back on the island and in the Looking Glass.

Wow, I can't believe I have to wait until February to see the next episode! Grr.

Yeah, I would like more than 16 episodes but it's not that big of a difference. Season three only had 22 episodes.

For some reason early in the flashbacks I thought for a second maybe it was in the future but then I said no and left it at that. Who the hell would have guessed that I was right! :P And I think Jack went a little nuts then because his father is probably dead and everyone knows it except him.

I don't watch LOST, so I can't tell you who these characters are.  However, on the radio this morning, one of the hosts said he started to figure out who the different characters were based upon:

Locke (sp?) - Nancy Pelosi
Jack - George Bush
Ben - Bin Laden

That's all he mentioned.  Thought it was kinda funny.

I'd switch Locke and Jack.  Jack is trying to "cut and run" from the island and Locke wants everyone to have blind faith in him and advocates "staying the course" on the island.

I'm guessing Michael.  Not only was it a black funeral home, there's good reason why Kate would be so hostile to the idea of showing up.

I think it was Locke. Remember that no one attended the viewing. Also, Kate would be very hostile to the idea of showing up for Locke's viewing because he didn't want them to leave the island. What reason would she have for being hostile to Michael?

Well, he murdered AnaLucia and Libby, and then led her, Jack, Hurley, and Sawyer to the other side of the island under false pretenses just to turn them over to the Others and leave himself.

I don't think Kate would care much about Analucia and Libby but the latter (which I forgot about) is a good point.

Thank you Captain obvious, I was talking about in the flash forward. Someone died Jack seemed pretty sad about and it made him want to go back to the Island. The only person that could make that happen is the death of Locke I would think. Again I'm talking about the flash forward.

Who else though would make Jack be so emotional about leaving the island? Someone who wanted to leave the island? No it would be someone who wanted to stay. Plus of course who is more likely to have no one at their funeral? I'd think if it were Michael Walt would at least show up.

I watched the finale last night. I've never watched a TV show that packed with "HOLY SH**T WHAT THE HELL!!!" moments. <Lost3

I've read some theories that the flash forward scenario could be set on a different timeline/universe or that perhaps it's one of Desmond's flashes except extremely elaborate. The fact that Jack was saying his father was still alive and that Kate was well to do and not on the run just doesn't make much sense to me.

I think the person who died was Locke. Whoever it was, their name begins with a J. And they're also from New York. I don't know. And now we have to wait!

I'm sure it is an alternate timeline they will not leave the island... The only way it can be the future is if they make it a story about Locke, the others and whoever stays behind.

That's why I still think it was Locke.  ;)

I've always expected both Michael and Walt to return (even though Walt technically has returned).

My guess is that Michael is Ben's man on the ship, and/or the person who opened the door for Sayid and Desmond.

Wow! What a great episode, guys! To answer Driedapples' question in another thread, I don't know if Jin was flashing back.


I'm thinking it might have been a flash forward, with Jin forbidden to see Sun (after orders from Sun's father). Sun's father could then act as if Jin was killed when he's really alive and still working for him.

That's what I thought at first.  But I now think that Jin was a flashback because:

the year of the dragon was 2000
Jin was using a really old cell phone and yelling at the guy in the cab like he did when he was a thug
Also, I think the "I've only been married for two months" was supposed to be the hint to us that it was a flashback.


I had kinda expected Sun's baby to be black.  Now that would be have a twist...

The date on the headstone of when Jin died is September 22nd, 2004, the day the plane went down.

Yeah, but The Oceanic six said only eight survived the crash, and two died of injuries.  This means that Jin either died or was left behind on the island when the six were rescued.  There is one more person left in the Oceanic six (this could be aaron, don't know for sure)

I thought Aaron would be included but would they count someone born on the island as a survivor?

For some reason I think there is one more we don't know about.  And what's with the Oceanic Six not getting along?  Hurley is so relieved when Sun says no one else is coming.  They seem like the only two who get along.

Told you Michael was coming back :p.  I think Phil is right about Alex.  I'm so sad Carl is dead, he was awesome.

Also, remember how that guy simply looked at Michael after Sayid told him what happened. It just seems as if it was a look like, "Ok, no time to flip out. Fix the engines and get to the island."
