Title: Gramm and Keating endorse McCain
Post by: Joe Biden 2020 on February 20, 2007, 05:45:36 PM
Former Senator Phil Gramm of Texas and Former Governor Frank Keating of Oklahoma have endorsed John McCain.

Will these two prestigious endorsements help McCain in his quest for the White House?

My guess is no, it will not, for the main reason that McCain is just flat too old and in too poor health to take on the responsibilities as Leader of the Free World.

Keating once considered himself a potential candidate, didn't he?

His name was high on the list in 2000, but he opted out.  There was talk of him being the candidate in 2004 if Bush has lost, as well.

I'd noticed Gramm had in today's Wall Street Journal , http://opinionjournal.com/extra/?id=110009690, in which he described McCain as "a leader for our times"

They'd have been better coming in 2000. I'm no Republican, but McCain would have been preferabe to George W Bush

I'm minded to agree there. McCain doesn't look in good fettle now, let alone as President in 2009

And then there was the talk at the begining of this year of him running in 2008, which I believe is what Verily was refering to.
