Title: Battle of the Countries: Honduras to Ireland
Post by: Хahar 🤔 on March 01, 2008, 12:00:25 AM
This is a great matchup. India would be a beast, but I'd venture to say there are quite a few of Irish descent here. And then there's Iran and Iraq. Hungary and Iceland will also gather a fair number of votes, as Honduras and Indonesia get left behind.

I honestly have no idea as to what'll happen.

Iceland rules (I'm betraying my Irish heritage though...)

Ireland

Hooray for being 50% Irish

I'm 40% Irish, but voting Ireland would be too cliché.   So I picked Iceland.  Beautiful beaches.  Great weather.  Lots of sunshine.  Fantastic Cuisine... oh... wait.

It was a tough choice between India and Iceland. But I went for Iceland because India's Section 377 was a deal breaker. I'm disappointed that Mr. Singh hasn't tried to drop it.

Honduras, just cuz it's the only one I've been to. Ireland and India are both nice places in their own ways, and Iceland is awesome solely from its association with Vikings, who are awesome.

Of course India. Iceland second.

Ugh. Loads and loads of great countries, and 300,000 inbred fishermen in the lead.

It's not quantity, but quality that matters.

And the other countries on the list (say from Iceland on down) don't have interesting qualities? ???

I would say that Iceland has most quality per capita.

My ancestry is Hungarian.  I love the thought of sitting in a hot spring with some lovely Icelandic "honey". Honduras has that tropical appeal that I like.

But I chose Ireland.

I like to drink.

I would end voting no, but I don't feel like breaking the tie between Iceland and Ireland myself.

Iceland is the Alabama of Europe?  I always thought that it was Romania or Bulgaria or something like that.  I love finding out what Euro's feel about other Euro's, it's so fascinating to me.  Has there ever been a thread about it?

The Balkans are probably the least inbred region in Europe due their location. Iceland which is an insular country and isolated country is probably the most inbred.

They ran the world for most of the last 600 years and had 5 world wars. That's what they feel about one another.

The Napoleonic Wars (of which the War of 1812 was the American subwar) and the Seven Years War (of which the French and Indian War was the American subwar) certainly qualify as two of them, with battles in North America, Africa, and Asia as well as Europe in both of them.

The Revolutionary War could qualify as well.
