BRTD, why did you have to start this thread? You know the reaction it's going to get.

Of course not.

Of course he will. But McCain won't win it by quite as much as in Vermont, or Illinois.

Who'd he put on the ticket to carry Illinois?  Alan Keyes?

Lieberman might not win reelection in Connecticut because of Lieberman, his unfavorables are shooting way up there.

Of course...his profound influence in the northeast might also bring in New Hampshire, Mass, and maybe even New Jersey ;)

Of course! Joe Lieberman is the most popular figure in the state of Connecticut (snark).

No, and I think Lieberman will retire in 2012 because of his crappy re-election numbers.

In order to show bi-partisan unity, McCain would take a very popular political figure of Illinois as his running mate, Governor Rod Blagojevich!

That would probably hurt Blagojevich more than McCain.

That is unless he can secure a place in McCain's administration, which I think he's seriously banking on.  He doesn't really want the embarrassment of losing in 2012 and surely doesn't want to get kicked off of all the nice committees he's on in 2008, both of which might happen should Joe's pal John not win.

Blagojevich has no place to go but up in Illinois.

Well, I think that McCain won't become President, and Lieberman won't bother running for re-election in 2012, and will retire, although will still appear on FauxNews.

Pretty accurate jfern, I guess my point is that he appears to be upset with his party and is putting all of his eggs in the McCain basket.  Outside of Vice President, what position does he want?  Defense, Homeland Security?

The same reason Republicans still rave about Obama winning Kansas.
