Post by: Kushahontas on January 04, 2009, 04:03:17 PM
I once stumbled across something here where you could home in on your neighborhood through something that looked like google earth and it would show you in color how your precinct voted, complete with neighborhood maps and everything. can anyone tell me where i can find it? im curious as to how my precinct voted.

I think part of the problem here is that people are hoping for '08 precinct maps, and although this site does have quality materials for a handful of states in 2000 and '04, it does not offer precinct returns for 2008, and certainly not in a map format.

Yeah...if there's a 2008 precinct map site, I'd love to see it, but I haven't.

Why does your signature say that you live in a purple state?

Maybe because it split(Obama won NE-2) its EV's?

Yeah, but McCain won the state by 15 points in a horrible Republican year.  I wouldn't consider a state that was 22 points more Republican than the national average "purple".

Many states, including yours, are truly purple if you want to break results by congressional districts. Yes, we were still an easy win statewide for the republican party but the fact that Obama won our 2 largest cities and won a congressional district shows that we have a little blue mixed in with all the red outstate. Hence, the purple color. Are we purple in terms of being a true swing state? No. But as long as the electoral vote law stays the same, then our eastern 2 CD's could be up for grabs.
