1  Presidential Elections - Analysis and Discussion / 2020 U.S. Presidential Election / Re: Bernard hires Russian propagandist David Sirota as campaign spokesman on: March 19, 2019, 08:13:43 pm
Can we start a "Bernie makes me so maaaad waaaaah!" megathread? Or just a "[Democratic candidate] is literally the devil" megathread?

You're better than this.

Look at this forum and tell me I'm wrong. I'm hardly the one here who should be accused of posting something "beneath" myself.

You're veering into fhtagn-esque drivel man.

So you've got nothing to say about any of the points I made in my other post? Just another insult (I guess that's what it's supposed to be, though I've never gotten all the hate for fhtagn)? That's disappointing.

I legitimately didn't see your response sir. That said, I think uh... peenie_weenie's first paragraph summarizes my views on your post well.

Sirota is an inherently divisive figure in Democratic politics. That's his brand, and you'll have to cease worrying about anti-Bernie Bros for a moment and realize that this adversarial figure preys on the Democratic disunity you and I worry about.

This is a troublesome, mean-spirited, odious comment. To insinuate that your political opponents are nothing more than petulant babies for finding a campaign hiring to be unethical is beneath you. Well, at least I thought.
4  Presidential Elections - Analysis and Discussion / 2020 U.S. Presidential Election / Re: BETO raises $6.1 MILLION in first 24 hours (number released this morning)... on: March 18, 2019, 07:01:29 am
Thatís s great amount, and probably propels him to third above Garris. I have no vlue why he didnít release this when he was taking a lot of hits from all directions.

Im going to take a guess and say it was less than 2.5$ million.

Lol owned
5  Presidential Elections - Analysis and Discussion / 2020 U.S. Presidential Election / Re: Beto OíRourke 2020 possible campaign announcement megathread on: March 13, 2019, 10:14:17 pm
Say what you may about Beto... But the single biggest farce is the notion that Beto is a media creation.

Kamala is much more of the Media darling thus far.

Concur. This piece of slander is pushed by Serious Republicans and other detractors, but the fact is Beto's fame is mostly organic.

He rose to prominence in Democratic grassroots circles nationally when he decided to challenge Ted Cruz. But it was clear he was something special when this bold defense of free speech went viral:

421K likes and 20 million views isn't nothing folks. He's had other videos get millions of views as well. Lots of ordinary, politically-unconnected people found his eloquence captivating. The media caught onto this, but only as reaction to what was happening with these Twitter and Facebook videos.

Beto's for real. It remains to be seen whether he can draw big crowds and energize people outside of Texas, so I don't know if he will win the Democratic primary. But his utter lack of cynicism is, well, Obama-esque.

RINO Tom summarized him well, as he's basically an Excel spreadsheet. His random scattering of actual opinions are basically always unsubstantiated and often ignorant.

9  Other Elections - Analysis and Discussion / Gubernatorial/Statewide Elections / Re: 2017 Virginia HoD Thread on: June 27, 2018, 09:55:46 am
Yeah, but I think I saw the Court has already routinely struck down maps where a set racial number (55% for the Virginia HoD) was used to draw districts.

This case was on remand from SCOTUS which actually told the lower court to reconsider it's "not unconstitutional gerrymander" decision. I don't think SCOTUS will stay it.

Hmm, maybe. SCOTUS struck down a lower court ruling on NC recently, so Iím not sure really. Though yeah, that was a partisan gerrymandering case, not a racial gerrymandering one. Weíll have to wait and see.

Iím guessing this will affect the Hampton Roads and Fredericksburg seats primarily, yes?

Hampton Roads and Richmond:

11  Other Elections - Analysis and Discussion / Gubernatorial/Statewide Elections / Re: 2017 Virginia HoD Thread on: June 27, 2018, 08:14:31 am
Surprised this bit of news went unmentioned:

There were 12 districts ruled unconstitutional by the federal court, and since there are about 22 districts adjoined with those, a new map would affect about 1/3 of the HoD.

Unfortunately Iím pretty sure those fascist goons Neil Gorsuch and Anthony Kennedy will stay this decision in no time.
12  Election Archive / 2018 Senatorial Election Polls / Re: FL - NBC/Marist: Nelson +4 on: June 26, 2018, 02:40:52 pm
When is deadbeat forum owner Dave Leip gonna give me poll database access? Of course mds32 added the OH-Gov poll along with other trash polls but not any of the Senate polls to come out today.
13  Other Elections - Analysis and Discussion / Congressional Elections / Re: Please use state megathreads for discussions on: June 26, 2018, 11:51:44 am
We deserve a VA-10 safe space. Unfair to shove it in with a ďGeneric BallotĒ megathread.

If a VA-10 megathread took off, that would be fine, it could be viable. I merged two individual threads each about a *single poll* into our House polling megathread.

Fair. The problem is quality House polls are extremely seldom, but when they do come out, I think they usually merit their own threads.

16  Presidential Elections - Analysis and Discussion / 2016 U.S. Presidential Election / Re: Would Sanders have done better or worse than Clinton in Virginia in 2016? on: June 26, 2018, 12:24:57 am
It would've been Sanders 47-45 or something. Yes, beloved NoVA would still vote for him over Trump, but to RINO Tom's chagrin(?), the margin would be reduced. He'd still win Fairfax, Loudoun, and PWC by Obama margins. This is good, but not nearly as dominating as HRC.

He'd probably do worse than Obama but better than Clinton in the boonies, sure. The actual problem for him is the Hampton Roads area. I do not see Bernie's message reaching well to pretty much any demographic there. Hillary did not do particularly well here obviously, but surprisingly not as poorly as you may expect. Black turnout fell, but I suspect it would've fallen even harder with Bernie Sanders on the ballot instead.
17  Forum Community / Forum Community / Re: FOLKS on: June 25, 2018, 07:43:21 pm
This thread makes me tempted to change my screen name to "Folks."  The list of politically incorrect words or some neighborhood adjacent is just getting too long my aged mind with which to cope. Thus I am tempted to do such a fart in the wind in a futile attempt to slow down the metastasizing.

On the contrary, sir. Iím not particularly bothered by the connotations of the word, though what RINO Tom said is perfectly valid and basically true.

Whatís more annoying is how some use it as a replacement for Ďpeopleí every time, if not used even more than that when forced in. Itís just not normal, and I roll my eyes every time I see it on here now. It reeks of disingenuous colloquialism, especially if itís used hundreds upon hundreds of times. President Obama was also relatively guilty of this.

Anyway glad to have started a meaningful dialogue on what kind of language is acceptable in our country.
18  Forum Community / Forum Community / FOLKS on: June 24, 2018, 11:11:55 pm
When you provoke people to wrath as some of these folks do, bad things happen.

They thought the law was wrong, and were not short on folks affirming their position.

We DON'T have the resources to take in scores of limitless poor folks with low work skills.

I view ignoring these folks and not giving them the attention they want is making the best of that.

I'd prefer that these folks march with the only cameras on them being the surveillance cameras of law enforcement.

That isn't the issue with many folks, however.

I capitalized the word "ILLEGAL" to ask people what should be done, given the fact that these folks are breaking the law to come in here.

There are many folks who advocate just letting everyone in.

If folks' main goal is to have totally open borders, with no immigration restrictions, or something that pushes the US significantly in that direction from what we have now, then I would at least appreciate them being honest about their real goals.

Is it moral to treat folks who come here illegally with the same welcoming that we treat those who came here legally and respected our laws?

Here's folks' chance to prove me wrong.

"Send 'em back quick!"  I have no problem with that for folks who illegally enter the US.

Is ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION a problem?  That's a question that a lot of folks need to go on record about, one way or the other.

Folks regularly request such permits; why is this one such a big deal?

The folks who hate Trump more than they hate this clown WANT him to protest.

And, once again, the folks that will suffer the most will be folks who are not vested in the alt-right extremist movements.

The folks who are vested in their families and their lives, but not in the histrionic drama of demonstrators and counterdemonstrators will pay for what goes wrong, and Trump will be pilloried as a racist/fascist/deliverer of wedgies to folks with diarrhea by the cackling news media and the commentariat.

The wise thing for a society to do is to NOT GIVE THESE FOLKS MEDIA ATTENTION.

So, how do my fellow forumites feel about this word nowadays? Have the ramblings of an increasingly deranged old man made it more or less charming? Interested in seeing the results.

The KC mayoral election will be in June 2019. That means he almost certainly isnít running for President, and a gubernatorial run is highly unlikely. Though, this would make him a slightly better VP choice in my estimation.
