REPUBLIC OF ATLASIA - In Dave We Trust
Official Ballot

READ THIS FIRST

1. The election will last 72 hours, starting at 0:00 EST Friday June 22 and ending 0:00 EST Monday June 25.

2. You are eligible to vote in this election if you have made 10 posts on the Atlas Forum in the past 8 weeks, have registered as a voter with the Registrar General more than 7 days before the start of the election, and have not had your voting rights stripped as a result of deregistration or a court verdict.

3. You must vote by ranking your choices in the order of your preference: 1 for your first preference, 2 for your second preference, and so on. You may write in preferences for candidates not on the ballot. If you only wish to preference one candidate, marking an X next to the candidate's name or simply writing the candidate's name is sufficient, provided that you do not wish your vote to transfer to other candidates.

4. If you do not wish to vote for any candidate on the ballot nor to write in a candidate, you may vote for None of the Above as your first preference. All candidates ranked under None of the Above will not receive those preferences during the counting of the votes.

5. You are permitted, but not advised, to edit your ballot within 20 minutes of posting it within this thread. Deleting your ballot at any time or editing it after 20 minutes will result in the invalidation of your vote.

6. Please check over your ballot thoroughly before you click "Post". You have no excuse for casting a ballot which contains errors or does not accurately reflect your preferences. Failure to correct errors in your ballot may result in its disqualification. While the alphabetically-ordered ballot below is provided for your convenience should you wish to quote this post, you may order the candidates on your ballot however you would like.

Trump's masterpiece is Lyin' Ted, which has basically become Cruz's new first name. If Cruz runs for Peesident even in like 2044 when all of this is a distant memory (and he's young enough that that's plausible), he'll still be Lyin' Ted Cruz.

God I hope we don't have to worry about Cruz in 30 years

Beto gave a speech at the texas democratic partys convention looks like his main target of the campaign will be Tarrant County
https://www.dallasnews.com/news/2018-elections/2018/06/22/beto-orourke-vows-show-up-for-all-texans-thrills-delegates-texas-democratic-party-convention
really solid piece

He's also been doing more outreach to the black community of Dallas as well. Looks like now that his 254 county campaign is done that he's focusing back on the Dem base
6  Other Elections - Analysis and Discussion / Congressional Elections / Re: AL-SEN 2020: Doug Jones vs. The Entire Political Establishment of Alabama on: June 24, 2018, 05:44:29 pm
He is not going to survive with Donald Trump on the ballot.

Hopefully he's our next AG.

I like this. Makes "Replaces Jeff Sessions" into Doug Jones' entire career trajectory.

Honestly my dream. I'd hate to see him leave in 2020
7  Other Elections - Analysis and Discussion / Congressional Elections / Re: Congressional Special Elections Results Thread (6/30 - TX-27) on: June 24, 2018, 05:43:07 pm
Bruun dropped out and endorsed Cloud.

Okay. It appears his name will still be listed on the ballot though. Edited prediction.

Still see LOTS of Bruun signs heading towards the Gulf Coast, specifically around Rockport and Port A. Not sure if these people know he's out...
8  Other Elections - Analysis and Discussion / Congressional Elections / Re: TX-SEN: O'Rourke running on: June 24, 2018, 05:40:31 pm
Only ads I've heard so far are for Kopser (TX-21) and Andrew White of all people. Nothing for Beto or Cruz yet
9  Other Elections - Analysis and Discussion / Congressional Elections / Re: NJ-02: Grossman says diversity is 'a bunch of crap and un-American' on: June 24, 2018, 05:39:32 pm
Obama won NJ-02 by eight f**king points in 2012. It's an open seat in a D-leaning environment and the GOP candidate is a nutjob. Democrats don't need Van Drew to win here.

It's like 1 blue dog out of 200 democrats. Almost all of the blue dogs got kicked out of office before 2016. And most of the democrats running in 2018 are liberals, even in swing seats.

What's wrong with 1 blue dog?

1 blue dog sunk the public option in 2010.

shudders
10  Other Elections - Analysis and Discussion / Congressional Elections / Re: TX-31: Can/will MJ Hegar win? on: June 24, 2018, 05:38:33 pm
Just to be a completist, there are five districts that include parts of Austin.  The Democrats hold one of them (Lloyd Doggett.)

In addition to M.J (Mary Jennings) Hegar and Joseph Kopser in the open 21 district held by retiring Lamer Smith, there is the 10th district where Mike Siegal is challenging Michael McCaul and the 25th district where Julie Oliver is challenging Roger Williams.  In both of these districts in 2016, the Republican won by just under 60-40%.

With all this in mind, definitely think that Hegar is the strongest dem candidate in central TX, but maybe not in the easiest R district

With Cruz solidly at 50 in multiple pollsit looks like Robert Francis O'Rourke is well on his way to being an msnbc host after his loss
the hipocrisy is baffling. calling beto his real name when u wont to eduardo?
At least he's gone by his middle name his entire life, O'Rourke didn't become "beto" until he ran for office.

State borders are incredibly arbitrary and don't warrant us having two Senators for each nor an electoral college

20  Forum Community / Forum Community / Re: Best cities for the previous poster on: March 19, 2018, 09:03:26 pm
Missoula, MT
Eugene, OR

I'd like a cosmopolitan city with good public transportation and the vast majority of services/necessities within a 15 minute walking distance (about 3/4 of a mile).  Low crime.  Climate, CoL flexible.

Seattle is the first city that comes to mind.

I'd like a cosmopolitan city (or charming town with at least 50K ppl) with a good public transportation system and high general quality of life. Nearby natural features / extensive hike/bike trails is a big plus, as are mild summers. Winters can be colder/snowy, I don't mind that. CoL variable. Good food scene is never bad, as is a walk-able/pedestrian friendly urban core (or at least some part of town, lol). Good public schools available as well. Trying to think of as many specifics as I can, lol.

Quote
A RESOLUTION
to implore the federal government to gift reservation land back to the tribes that live on them

Whereas, Reservations remain some of the most economically depressed communities in Atlasia, and
Whereas, a lack of land ownership leaves Native Atlasians at a distinct disadvantage in building wealth and economic security, and
Whereas, the Federal Government has sole ownership over all Reservation land, be it
Resolved, that the Commonwealth of Fremont Parliament implores the Federal Government to gift back Reservation land free of charge to their resident tribes and without ending Federal services to these lands, and be it
Further Resolved, that upon the passage of this resolution, the First Minister shall alert Fremont’s two Senators of its passage.
