How can the people of the Mideast be assured you won't go inactive with no warning like you did the last time you held public office?

Apparently some are suggesting Brown fabricated the whole thing as a political stunt. Really, how low can you go?

All right, thanks for clearing it.
Yeah, Ben and I discussed several different possibilities, and finally settled on Lief. It saved a lot of time because now we have it taken care of before the administration begins. While the position is recommended by the SoEA, it also has to have my approval as well, so I don't see anything wrong with us discussing names and finding one we can both agree on.
11637  Atlas Fantasy Elections / Atlas Fantasy Elections / Re: Tmthforu94/Dallasfan65: Transitional Thread on: February 24, 2011, 10:16:27 am
I'm SoEA until Ben is confirmed, meaning that I'm still the one with legal responsibility to appoint a GTO Ambassador if I feel like it. Ben will be the one legally responsible to appoint one when he becomes SoEA. Not now.

so I know that once he does become SoEA, I won't have to worry about him not wanting to appoint Lief.
11638  Atlas Fantasy Elections / Atlas Fantasy Elections / Re: Tmthforu94/Dallasfan65: Transitional Thread on: February 24, 2011, 08:42:47 am
Thanks for dodging the subject by using my idiotic, I admit, mistake.
My God, someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed...

My administration will make sure this position is filled with correct procedure. Benconstine has already expressed his approval of Lief for the position, so there will be no issue there.

Expressed? SoFE is responsible for picking GTO Ambassador, and with President's "OK" for the candidacy, the nomination is going to the Senate.

If you just picked Lief and asked Ben, then you did it wrong. Ben, as next SoFE is the one who's giving a name. That's the whole intention of said paragraph (which, by the way, I didn't include in original version, but it was amended on then SoFE request.
Ben will be SoEA, not SoFE.
And I'm saying, Ben likes Lief for GTO Ambassador, so I know that once he does become SoEA, I won't have to worry about him not wanting to appoint Lief.

Hold on, Tmthforu. You're violating Foreign Policy Reform Act of 2010.

Quote
An Ambassador to the GTO shall serve as Atlasian Representative in GTO and Secretary principal assistant; Ambassador shall be nominated by President on the recommendation of Secretary of External Affairs and be a subject of a Senate confirmation vote.

The President, much more President-elect, is not allowed to nominate GTO Ambassador single-handely.

You have to:
1. Wait until you take an office
2. Have your choice for SoFE confirmed and sworn-in
3. Have your new SoFE to sumbit you a proposed nomination, you can either reject or submit for the Senate for confirmation

I'd like to see my President, who's also, by the way, current Attorney General, to follow the letter of a law.
What does the SoFE have to do with any of this?

I'd like to see my Vice President, who's also, by the way, a former Attorney General, to know the letter of the law.

Wink

As we near the end of my cabinet appointments, I just want to thank everyone who did apply for a position. I appreciate your willingness to help. Smiley

For the position of GTO Ambassador, I will be appointing Lief. Lief has a long history of being active in the game, and I'm sure he'll do great in this position. Congratulations!

When looking for an Attorney General, I was looking for someone who has a vast amount of experience in law. I need someone who I know can strongly defend the public government. I'm proud to appoint Junkie to this position, and I look forward to seeing him grow in the position. While Junkie is still relatively unfamiliar with how the Wiki works, I look forward to personally working with him on that matter in the coming weeks so he is prepared when he swears in. Congratulations, Junkie! Smiley

One issue our campaign focused on this cycle was foreign policy, and how it needed to become a more important in this game. When making an appointment for Secretary of External Affairs, it was important to me that I found someone who shared these same feelings. Like every other position, it was also important to me that I had someone who would be active and dedicated, as well as have extensive knowledge in the field. Benconstine meets all of those qualifications, and I'm pleased to announce I'm appointing him to the position of SoEA.

The Secretary of Internal Affairs position was created several terms ago, and has struggled to become a relevant position in Atlasia. Dr. Cynic made some great steps for the position, but his inactivity prevented him from going through with it. My administration will look to make this position a more relevant one, possibly by even giving it some GM responsibilities. I was looking for someone who would be dedicated to that potential role when searching for a candidate, and I found one. I'm pleased to nominate JBrase to the position of Secretary of Internal Affairs.

Oh yeah, Gustaf is obviously reappointed to Moderator General. Tongue

I've kind of been on the fence for the Senate race. Lugar has already been in the Senate for 30+ years, an he can arguably be called a RINO. But, I know that a certain person on this forum* will be extremely PO'd if I don't side with Team Lugar.

Murdock, however, is an actual conservative. Thus...I'm going for Murdock.

*Do I even need to say the name?
The fact that so many Hoosiers want to throw away one of this nation's most respected and knowledgeable Senators for someone who will just be a rubber stamp for the Tea Party doesn't make me angry. It disappoints me. This entire process reminds me of something occurred back in 1692...

In order to have elections run smoothly in Atlasia, it is essential that we have a Secretary of Federal Elections who has experience at running elections and has the commitment to serve in the position. My selection for this position has a long history of running elections in Atlasia, as well as a long track record of staying committed to the game. I'm happy to announce that Franzl has been reappointed to the position of Secretary of Federal Elections. I look forward to working with him in my administration. Congratulations, Franzl! Smiley

This will be spanned out over the course of a couple days, but we had a couple very easy picks for our cabinet, so we'll begin sharing those with you.

The Registrar General is an important position because it's vital we keep our voter rolls up to date for elections and common use. Fritz did a great job developing the position, and Hans-im-Glück performed well this past term. That being said, I'm pleased to announced that Hans-im-Glück has been reappointed to the position of Registrar General! Smiley I am confident that Hans will continue to do a great job keep the voter rolls active for another four months. He's a great guy, and a pleasure to work with.

Thank you,
Isaac Smiley
