1  Atlas Fantasy Elections / Atlas Fantasy Elections / Re: How has life been for you all? on: March 21, 2006, 08:10:59 pm
Hey, Steve. I can't really tell you how well or poorly things are going here because I, like yourself, left for awhile. It lasted a month. Come back soon, my friend.

Sorry.  I'm not back.  Just popping in to say hello.  Life is too busy for me to revive old addictions.
2  Atlas Fantasy Elections / Atlas Fantasy Elections / Re: How has life been for you all? on: March 21, 2006, 01:06:23 am
Hello, StevenNick....whoever you are.  You were before my time.  But take comfort!  You left a reputation that informed me of your statesmanship and competency as a leader.

You flatter me, Preston.

7  Atlas Fantasy Elections / Atlas Fantasy Government / Re: The SoFA Thread on: October 12, 2005, 05:31:05 pm
Just coming to check up on my predecessor.

How's Ike doing?  Not as good as I did as SOFA, I'm sure, but is he doing an okay job, at least?

I've been very good.  Working a lot, but very good.

Oh.  I have a myspace.  You all should check it out.

Sweet.

What have you been up to, anyway?  I don't recall ever hearing why you left.

I went to Mexico, was forced to take a good long break from the computer.  It was a very good thing.  I was spending way too much time on the internet, and on this forum.  After a month or so went by, though, I really didn't have the desire to ever come back to the forum.  I still don't, really.  I just decided to say hi to everybody.

Anyway, since that time I think I've grown up a bit, loosened up A LOT.  Life is much better for me now.

11  General Politics / U.S. General Discussion / Re: Base now considers Bush loose cannon on: October 12, 2005, 05:00:41 pm
About time they figured that out.

Well I guess now that conservatives, liberals, and moderates all dislike Bush he will have solidified his reputation as a uniter.

13  Atlas Fantasy Elections / Atlas Fantasy Government / Resignation on: February 23, 2005, 10:14:19 pm
As you all of noticed, I have been very inactive over the last month.  For personal reasons, I will not be able to devote the time to the forum necessary for holding any position in fantasy government.  I hereby resign my office as Secretary of Forum Affairs.  My apologies for not announcing this earlier.

Hola from Morelia, everybody.  Just thought I would post so you guys all know that I´m still alive.  I can see that there´s still the usual amount of activity here on the forum.  ¿Naso for senate, eh?  I can´t say I´m entirely surprised.

Well, I guess I don´t really have much to say except that all of you guys who are back in the states going to school or work are chumps.  I´m here chilling and drinking margaritas while you all are going about your normal lives.  ¡Ha!

Tengan un buen día a todos.  Hasta luego.  Quisas, voy a postar aquí mañana.  Voy a regresar en Febrero.  Adios.
17  Atlas Fantasy Elections / Atlas Fantasy Government / Re: New Office of Secretary of Forum Affairs on: January 08, 2005, 04:28:05 pm
Bump.

Just a reminder to everyone that this thread is the actual office of the secretary of forum affairs.  The other thread that Fritz started is the old one.
18  Atlas Fantasy Elections / Atlas Fantasy Government / Important Announcement on: January 07, 2005, 11:10:49 pm
I will be leaving for Morelia, Mexico tomorrow at midnight.  I return on January 29.  Although I will have internet access in Morelia, I will not be able to post as frequently.  Just thought I'd let you all know in advance.

BTW, it is my suggestion that we aim for February 1 as a start date for the new constitutional convention.  That would give the Governors plenty of time to appoint delegates and give the delegates plenty of time to think about what needs to change in the new constitution.
19  Atlas Fantasy Elections / Atlas Fantasy Elections / Re: Senate term limits on: January 06, 2005, 12:54:43 am
yeah, I doubt any president will ever be reelected.

JFK could have been re-elected. Sad

Elected you mean.
20  Atlas Fantasy Elections / Atlas Fantasy Government / Re: Second Report by the SoFA on: January 05, 2005, 06:13:04 pm
I was also trying to point out that it was somewhat hypocritical to argue that his vote must be tossed because we need to strictly follow the law; this seemed to be the most common reason cited for why it shouldn't count by those who favored that position.

In retrospect, there was nothing unconstitutional about DemoHawk's vote.  But I don't think it's exactly a case of hypocracy that so many wanted his vote thrown out.  Most people genuinly thought that there was a provision that made vote editing illegal in all elections.  I for one was extremely shocked to find that there wasn't.

You just asked for it China!

Prepare the tariffs!!!!

What type of torture did your parents do to you when you were a child that made you suddenly love tariffs and Herbert Hoover?

I don't know, but it was probably approved by Alberto Gonzales.
22  Atlas Fantasy Elections / Atlas Fantasy Elections / Re: KEmperor on Health on: January 05, 2005, 03:07:59 pm
Gentlemen, is there any need for this bickering in KEmperor's campaign thread?
Well, the Boss' mental health has been ruined by Atlasia's current disastrous health policies. Wink

I take offense to that.  I wrote Atlasia's only current health policies.
23  Atlas Fantasy Elections / Atlas Fantasy Elections / Re: Prepping for a Constitutional Convention on: January 05, 2005, 02:53:41 pm
If we're going to have a new Constitutional Convention, I would rather completely rewrite some parts of the constitution that don't work well rather than simply adopting a properly written version of our current constitution.  I'd like to completely get rid of districts, have all senators elected from regions.  Seats would be awarded proportionally to each region's population.  That do away with the incredibly stupid process of redistricting that we currently undergo every four months.  We would still have to occasionally shift the number of seats each region elected, but the boundaries of each region would stay fixed.
24  Atlas Fantasy Elections / Atlas Fantasy Government / Re: Second Report by the SoFA on: January 05, 2005, 02:43:15 pm
Regarding Vote Editing, yes, I agree something definitely must be done there. In the last election we had quite a few people arguing for a very strict interpretation of election law when it came to modifying a post (assuming that a post even equated to a vote, which it hadn't in the past, but...), but at the same time arguing for a very loose interpretation when it comes to the prohibition against editing votes, which technically only applied to Presidential Elections. Everyone agreed that it should apply to Senate elections as well, even those who were arguing that the law must be strictly followed to the letter.

All of the people who argued for a "strict interpretation" of election law in regards to editing votes in senate elections were dead wrong.  There is nothing there to interpret.  There is nothing anywhere that says that you can't edit your vote in a senate election.  Whether or not everyone agreed that that prohibition on editing votes should apply in senate elections doesn't make it so.
25  Atlas Fantasy Elections / Atlas Fantasy Government / Re: Electoral Reform Amendment/Statute on: January 04, 2005, 07:20:00 pm
For the purposes of this clause, an active member is defined to be one who has posted at least twenty-five times since the last federal election in which he or she voted.  If the person has not voted in any federal election since registering to vote, that person shall be counted as an active member.

The language of these two sentences needs to be changed.  This would allow a member to register and potentially sit out every election and still be classified as an active member.  I would suggest amending this to read, "For the purpose of this clause, an active member is defined as one who has posted at least twenty-five times on the Atlas Forum in the period between any two federal elections.  First time registrants will be considered active, regardless of the number of posts after registration, until the first federal election following their registration, at which point registrants will be required to post twenty-five times between any two federal elections."

Anyway...Great job on writing the bill and the amendment, Gabu.
